Christmas eve boxes for teens

I know some people think this is an absurd new tradition but I've been doing it since my ds 17 was born so I ain't stopping now.
But what to put in? Can't remember what I did last year. I used to put in a selection box, book, pyjamas and cuddly toy. I have ds 17 and dd 11. Pj's don't go in now because they have Xmas ones for December. Too big for cuddly toys.
So, any ideas? Just Xmas eve related so not 'presents' as such.

My DD is 16 and we've gone for a book (a short one), a hot chocolate bomb and Pjs.

Birmingbacon · 18/12/2024 18:37

a hot chocolate sachet
some marshmallows to go with that

I used to put in a Christmas DVD but nowadays everything is on netflix!

Birmingbacon · 18/12/2024 18:37

The night before `christmas book goes in ours every year

crumblingschools · 18/12/2024 18:39

If you do Xmas Eve boxes why did you then start doing pjs for December, how many days in December do you have to do a special celebration for Christmas?

Comedycook · 18/12/2024 18:43

Hot chocolate bombe

Magazine about something they're interested in

WhoWhereWhatWhy · 18/12/2024 18:43

I’d go with a hot chocolate making kit for that age range. Squirty cream, marshmallows, toppings, chocolate powder and maybe some chocolates to go on the side.

If you are looking to spend, maybe a Velvetiser?

XelaM · 18/12/2024 18:47

Jellycats are very popular with teens at the moment so not too old for cuddly toys!

Facemasks, body wash, fluffy socks, hot chocolate and mug, maybe a scarf/hat/gloves set and food treats. 🎄

A new one each year?!

Some great ideas here, just what I'm after.

In ours:

DDs 12 and 14

Pjs
Fluffy socks
New Christmas mug
Hot chocolate
Chocolate
Biscuits
Sweets
A drink
I got a marshmallow and hot choc teddy but now thinking about it they will say they are fake JellyCats 😬😬

Coraxon · 18/12/2024 19:01

I always put a Lindt Chocolate reindeer, candy cane, pjs and slippers/fluffy socks (you could do the socks), and a Lush bath bomb in for my teens.

ETA: and a mug most years. Not every year or we would end up with too many.

Oreyt · 18/12/2024 19:02

Dd14 asked for £57 worth of lush for Christmas. That. A Braclet and charm and a hoody is £250 on 3 items 😢😢

Babbahabba · 18/12/2024 19:25

Wow have you really been doing it that long? DS is 18 and I didn't even know Xmas Eve boxes were a thing until a few years ago. He went for years without but now gets one because of younger DD! 😂

God no! The same book! I gather it back up on Boxing Day and put it in the Xmas Eve box next year

BellissimoGecko · 18/12/2024 19:56

Phew! That's ok then, @Birmingbacon!

TeamMandrake · 18/12/2024 19:59

Marshmallow toasting kit?

ChaosHol1 · 18/12/2024 20:00

I always do pj's, lush bath stuff for them to use before getting pjs on, sweets, Xmas mug and hot choc spoon, face mask, Guinness book of records for my son and a magazine for the girls, fluffy socks.

My eldest is 20 and I think I've always done it for her since toddler age.

My eldest is 25 and we,ve done them most of his life I blame Barney the big purple and green dinosaur personally.

Now we do Dec 1st Boxes rather than Christmas Eve . When DD was pre teen she convinced me to buy her some VSPink pyjamas (grey/snowflakes) very nice and of course she wanted them straight away .
So Dec 1st made more sense for both of them ,they get all December to use things and wear the pyjamas all winter and then the next years till they're done.

LoudPlumDog · 18/12/2024 22:13

I’ve never heard of them!!

Some things they may like:

DS 17 - book, bookmark, Mug, fancy snacks, shower gel, heat pack, nice fluffy blanket, fidget toy, pack of cards, underwear.

DD 11 - undies, shower gel, silk pillowcase, jelly cat, fidget toy, mug, book, bookmark, fancy snacks, fluffy blanket, face mask, eye mask.

Leeds2 · 18/12/2024 22:25

A Lush Christmas themed bath bomb.

Some sort of sleep mist, the stuff you spray on the pillow to help you sleep.

Floranan · 18/12/2024 22:37

My dd and DSD 25 and 21 in age are both with me Christmas Eve so doing an Eve box for them, never done them before.

DS, DIL and their 3 little ones are staying too. My DIL always does boxes, but this year money is tight and she’s struggling with working FT so when I offered some money towards the boxes she asked if I would mind doing them, I was thrilled (don’t like to interfere but I’ve been asked 🥳 ) 3 little ones, pjs, fluffy socks bath bomb, and a book each, and a little teddy.

the four adults, fluffy socks ( well Christmas ones for my son) hot chocolate face mask, shower gel set and a big bath towel. Then a game we can all play at some point.

DH saw the boxes and said he wanted one ( I think he’s joking) but I’ve got him some new slippers hot chocolate and a book. I’m the only one with out one so I bought myself some bits too 😂.

no one knows they’re getting them, they assume just the children

Glitterybee · 18/12/2024 22:39

Mine are 15&12 and we do:

Christmas pjs
Christmas socks
Christmas mug
Hot chocolate
Cadbury chocolate coins

I've never put pj's in my DD's Xmas eve Box as the elves arrive with them on the 1st Dec, this way she can the festive pj's during the build up to Xmas.

XiCi · 18/12/2024 22:45

Dd (14) gets a Christmas mug (same one every year) with a hot chocolate bomb, new nightdress/pj's, cuddly toy (ty beanie or jellycat), candy canes, mug cake and a bath bomb.
