I have no idea what thread number we're on now Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I posted on the last thread about Home Bargains Delivery. I ordered last Wednesday.

Had an email last night to say they are refunding me an item as it's out of stock (a candle).

Then had another email just now for a different item. (Terrys Chocolate Orange of all things).

So looks like they have stock when you order but by the time they pack it a week later they have non left.

Just got a good bargain for Hermione Granger interactive spell master wand from Bargainmax for £12.99 - supposed rrp £45 but selling between £22 and £30 elsewhere - they also had the Harry one for £19.99. No idea if it's a one hit wonder but it was requested by DD11 so might help for others still looking for presents for Harry Potter fans. Spell wand

Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions for a sushi making kit? I got DH a beautiful Japanese cookbook for his 40th and would like to get some kit so he can make some of the recipes. Bargain or code a bonus!

Wallaroo21 · 12/12/2024 09:44

Thanks for sharing this - I was looking for a gift for my little girl from grandparents and this is perfect. It's also the same price on Very, so if you needed to spend a few more pounds then the £5 TopCashback bonus should work.

Willow4987 · 12/12/2024 09:57

Not strictly gift related but is deal related…

Spode have 3 for 2 on their Christmas tree range plus a free peppermint dessert tray when you spend over £80

Does anyone know of any discount codes that might stack with it before I take the plunge?

RJnomore1 · 12/12/2024 10:24

My flower and white order has turned up! 50 is quite a lot of bars isn't it 😬

PinkPanther27 · 12/12/2024 10:29

Chocolateteabag · 12/12/2024 09:08

What is his budget @PinkPanther27 ?

Hot diamonds may still have some stacking offers on? There a few things in their outlet and their packing is brilliant (proper boxes and bags)

Thanks, I would say £20/25. Does anyone remember the stacking codes for Hot Diamonds please?

I think JEWELS for free del and MSE40 for 40% off. The last one might not be quite right...

@FilthyforFirth Souschef do sushi kits and other lovely stuff. The quality of everything I’ve got from them as been great.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 12/12/2024 10:55

I have an Argos code, £8 off an £80 spend. PM if you'd like this

Chocolateteabag · 12/12/2024 11:02

@FilthyforFirth LIDL might still have some Japanese bits in as they had a week on in Nov?

SugarIsHardtoAvoid · 12/12/2024 11:04

Brilliant! I’d be doing all I could to encourage sushi making! What about making a hamper with the wrapping seaweed, pickled ginger, wasabi paste, rice vinegar etc + rolling mats which are inexpensive. Everything but the fish.
Then either a voucher for you to sharpen the knives for your DP, or a new knife sharpener or a new knife. Flint and Flame knives are spendy but excellent if you’re buying new and they always have a deal.

FilthyforFirth · 12/12/2024 11:11

Thanks all. We are moving early next year, hopefully, so not doing proper presents this year just stockings, though we are quite liberal with what constitutes a stocking gift!

A hamper would have been a great idea if we were doing proper gifts. I'll take a look in Lidl and the other sites suggested.

Thanks all :)

@FilthyforFirth I second SousChef as suggested by @Meanwhile33 above. Really good quality stuff. Something like this maybe?

That is the one currently sat in my basket! Just scouring for codes as I hate paying full price!

Mine came today too. Yes it’s a lot of bars 😬. I’ve tried 2 to take one for the team of course. Good proportion of coating to the meringue. With some GF family members these will be a definite hit!

SugarIsHardtoAvoid · 12/12/2024 11:58

That SousChef kit looks lovely! I didn’t know the website before now
I thought we were talking about those plastic sushi moulding kits which are a bit flimsy

VeruccaSalty · 12/12/2024 11:59

You can get all that sushi stuff cheaper at Asian supermarket (if you have one local) and if you get rice vinegar you can make your own rice seasoning for a fraction of cost. Amazon has moulds and things but not sure you need anything more than a £2 rollmat. a fancy Japanese knife would be great gift to go with it however.
