I have no idea what thread number we're on now Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I know some of these deals are a 50/50 of you win some and lose some. I definitely lost with flying flowers, most of the bunch are dead. Typical as I ordered for a pick me up

They are supposed to be delivered in bud so should freshen up when you put them in water. If they really are dead contact them with photos. I am sure they would put it right

LetMeJustCheckMyCitrusPocket · 14/12/2024 14:48

Hi all, a long shot I know but has anyone come across the Jellycat amuseable Ramen Bowl at all?

It's ridiculous but I know my daughter would be over the moon with it.

I did find one at a small gift shop online but it's now out of stock.

Thought it would be worth a post here just in case! 🙂

Normallynumb · 14/12/2024 15:04

@SugarIsHardtoAvoid
Phillips is a really good one
Quite expensive but worth it imo

PlanBea · 14/12/2024 15:05

Another one with poor quality flowers from Flying Flowers - I won't complain for the £12 delivered, but I ordered a white bouquet and it came mostly yellow with cheaper alternatives than the types of flowers advertised, and in bloom so a bit battered and who knows how long they will last. They hadn't been prepped so lots of stripping off lower leaves so they hopefully survive a few days longer. I think I've been spoiled with usually getting bloom and wild! Hopefully others have more luck than me

@LetMeJustCheckMyCitrusPocket

here for £36.99 but postage is steep £5.99/6.99 unless you can pick up from their Cheadle store.

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 14/12/2024 15:19

@LibraryUser M&S do champagne gift boxes you can add a note to.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 14/12/2024 15:19

My flying flowers arrived today and they are beautiful. I ordered the deluxe burst of beauty. Came well packaged and so fresh. I hope MILs are nice as I’ve ordered her the deluxe delightful roses, letterbox ones for her birthday next week.

Contact them, I’ve always found their customer service to be great. They have replaced a bouquet for me in the past that arrived half dead.

SugarIsHardtoAvoid · 14/12/2024 15:31

Sorry everyone can I ask if anyone has ordered from Oddballs and has a code to share, would you be kind enough to PM me? I’ve got SANTA10 for 10% off but have a few teens to buy for. Thank you 🙏🏼

Wolfcub · 14/12/2024 15:38

My flying flowers have arrived now. It's a nice bunch and I'm pleased for the price but as per my previous post wouldn't order at full price. Most of the roses are in full bloom so won't last long but they will cheer the place up whilst they last. Came well packaged.

Elodie09 · 14/12/2024 15:58

My Flying flowers have not arrived yet , was notified to say they would arrive around 2 hours ago.
I did get an email today though so hopefully they will arrive.

My mum has received her Flying Flowers. She says they are lovely and fresh and was very pleased. I ordered the all white bouquet however they are white and yellow! Oh well, can’t grumble for the price!

Mine arrived this morning. I'd have been thrilled if they looked like the elegant all white large bouquet I ordered.

What I've got is a bunch about a third of the size, mainly comprising of garish yellow daisy looking things, which I've handed to 4yo DD "love from mummy and daddy for good behaviour" so she's happy.

Just as a heads up to anyone contemplating ordering, these would be a fiver in the supermarket. And I wouldn't choose them.

Maybe we picked the wrong bunch and the others will turn out ok, or maybe MN flooded their order system and they had to replace most of the intended bunch with cheap yellow infill flowers.

Can't win em all eh Grin

Have you tried Jarrolds? I can’t see it on their website but I’m not far away so can potentially collect and post it to you if it’s in stock in store?

Wellwhoknewthat · 14/12/2024 16:32

@LetMeJustCheckMyCitrusPocket ifyou happen to be near wakehurst they, randomly, had the biggest selection of jellycat I've ever seen in one place.

I sold mine a few weeks ago, which is a shame, as I would have gladly sold it to you. Definitely keep an eye on Vinted. There is one on there at the moment, but it’s £35 plus all the fees, so just under £40 for it.

SmashingGemini · 14/12/2024 16:42

These are my mum’s flowers. I think they’re nice, I just wasn’t expecting the yellow chrysanthemums!

@ClaraLane that's so very kind of you to offer, thank you so much. I've checked and I think they possibly had it previously but I really appreciate your kindness anyway 🤗

Can anyone recommend where I can use to send a bottle of champagne to someone as a gift pls?
I've tried majestic and Waitrose cellar, but it wont let me send as a gift/add a gift note.
Anyone set one bottle to another recipient with a note and any discounts been spotted?!

Edited to add a discount: my big Sainsburys had discounts on Christmas decorations when I was there today - lights, wreaths, wrapping paper. No huge discounts, but 25-33%.

Edited

Marks and Spencer do champagne gifts.

@HeartandSeoul ahh what a coincidence, thank you anyway and I'll check Vinted 🙂

Georgieporgie29 · 14/12/2024 17:09

DH has just announced that a good gift for him would be a cooking apron. I merrily scrolled by when they were mentioned on another previous thread 🙄. Can anybody remember where was recommended please? Thank you.

Trainstrike · 14/12/2024 17:31

I've just had a potential last minute addition of the VTech Kiddizoom Snap "selfie phone" thing - the issue is it has to be pink but only the blue one seems particularly bargainous! I resent buying it anyway because it's only got a 5mp camera so looks a bit shit but it's for an 8 year old....

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 14/12/2024 17:37

If anyone else's child now requires a giant bar of Cadburys every Christmas after having had the bargainous one two years ago, they have dropped slightly in price on Amazon today but are still much more expensive than they were when we all got them originally. DS is a foot taller than he was 2 years ago so I'm worried he's going to think I've swapped it for a smaller version this year!
