Posting on behalf of @reastie hope you don’t mind 🎄 🎅

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.
It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.
Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!
@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps
A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:
It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
No affiliate links
No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
Be nice or leave
If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes
The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.
To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk
Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)
So starhellostar would look like this.
hello
Obviously use the * not the word star
Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Getting frustrated with delivery charges, can easily spend 50 plus on the toys I need to avoid delivery charges but no one site has the stock. If I order off more than one site it’s a total of 8 delivery grrrr.
Anyone have free delivery codes for Jaques of London please

Can anyone recommend a yo-yo that works well and is pink or purple please? Saw one on Smiggle but the delivery is expensive!

I got decent light up pink ones (also had blue) from Primark for dd's party bags but that was back in October. Might be worth looking if you are near one anyway? They were with some other little water games/ the stationery section.

@PaddingtonTwinkles only if you buy the converter! Which I just did from eBay 🤣

I had to buy the coffee on subscription to get £4 off, and they're delivering at the start of January.

I keep dithering on whether to faff about with a converter or bite the bullet and buy the capsules.
I really like the machine/coffee, so would like to continue with it.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 08/12/2024 20:05

@PaddingtonTwinkles I was thinking the same but I thought it best to have the option of the converter, especially if I get other bargain capsule versions

@Raindancer411 we have never had a problem with qwertee t-shirts and I wash everything at 40!

Snap!

SpamIAm · 08/12/2024 20:05

@Retiredearly61 Jaques stuff is available through Amazon - can you get what you need there with free postage?

SpamIAm · 08/12/2024 20:10

I had a look on the L'Occitane website earlier thanks to PP who posted about the free samples etc.

I bought 3 sets of these crackers, they're 3 for 2 so 12 crackers for £48. I then added a little bath fizzer to get it over £50 so I could get a free gift with the code GIFT1.

The items are small (I checked against the size of other stuff in my bathroom and I'm happy with the size for little token gifts. That's teacher gifts sorted though, plus some little extras for family members.

L'Occitane crackers

I did try to use the 20% off code as well. Doesn't work on the crackers anyway because they're not full price, but seemed to knock the free gift off.

Are they compatible with the bargain coffee machine we got?

Why would you need convertor if nespresso machine and nespresso pods? I don’t drink coffee and got this for a present so find it alll so confusing.

Edited

The pods in the post are for the original machine and the machine in the deal was for the Vertuo which takes different pods.

Are valentee diffusers nice and does anyone have an offer?

Also, does anyone know if the laithwaite offer is still going?

Yes, they are very much worth it- as are the candles & room sprays. Like PP says, always offers on-site & use a less used email if you can as they send a LOT of spam.

WeAreTheWeirdosSanta · 08/12/2024 20:37

Sorry if it's been asked recently, dies anyone please have a cheap way to buy an official Xbox controller (wireless). It's a new addition to the teens xmas list...which makes a nice change for "just money".

gaggiagirl · 08/12/2024 20:45

Could anyone please recommend a pack of Christmas crackers with edible items inside? Or anything useful or consumable. Thanks.

PaddingtonTwinkles · 08/12/2024 20:47

Sod it. I bought the coffee and the convertor you posted.

(For some reason, I had visions of having to open the coffee capsules and somehow tip the coffee into an empty pod. Thank god you don't have to do that!)

Midwintermayhem · 08/12/2024 20:47

I want to be the coolest Aunt ever. I've already bought a big box of cloud slime but I need another present for 9y/o niece. Any ideas please,? Mine are much older now.

Mince3141 · 08/12/2024 20:49

Has anyone had a soccer 04 order arrive and can tell me how long it took please? It's been a few weeks and I'm starting to get nervous!

Edited to say I ordered personalised

I’ve ordered the converter but it hasn’t arrived yet. I imagine it will be a minor faff that after each coffee you have to rescue the pod and converter before it gets automatically catapulted into the waste drawer.

While the Vertuo coffee is lovely (particularly the ginseng one ❤) it is soooooo expensive! I am considering giving the Vertuo machine away once I’ve finished the free pods, and buying one that compatible with the older smaller Nesspresso pods.

Why are they different? Is the Vertuo machine newer? Do we think it will just be a matter of time before compatible pods are available cheaper?

Wigglewoowoo · 08/12/2024 21:00

More requests for help, sorry!
I'm looking for -
*Ramen bowls x 3
*golf practice cup thingy (technical 😉)
*gift for grandparents in their 80s. No jigsaws or tech, they are only partially mobile.

Thank you for the vogue help previously. All set up!

Daimyum · 08/12/2024 21:12

Tk maxx for ramen bowls

SirLottie · 08/12/2024 21:14

@fishfingersandchipsagain I have both machines and much prefer the taste of the vertuo coffees (which is upsetting given the price!), it seems to work better for larger coffees too.
Other companies can't make the vertuo pods until the patent runs out, which apparently will be 2030 at the earliest 😬

fishfingersandchipsagain · 08/12/2024 21:14

Actually, I have just answered my own question on the Vertuo with a quick google. They lost the patent on the old pods, which is why there are so many “compatible with” cheap pods. They still have the patent on Vertuo, so can charge whatever they like as there is no competition.

So … can anyone recommend a good (rather than necessarily bargainous) coffee machine compatible with the old nespresso pods.

ETA thanks @SirLottie - cross posted!
