SIL gift. Which would you prefer?

Looking for some advice for buying my SIL a gift. She is very nice but also quite difficult to get really close to so I'm afraid all gift ideas I have for her are quite generic. She goes to the gym a lot, she loves her cat, she likes plants I believe and has a sweet tooth. Bought her a jumper for the gym last year.

As generic gifts go, this is what I have so far in terms of ideas:

  1. A rituals gift set (posh shower gel, candle and body cream etc)
  2. A kittens/cat wall calendar and some posh chocolates
  3. Nice pyjamas

Are these all just a bit crap?
Which would you prefer? Any other ideas? Budget up to about £40

One year I threatened to knit my sister a pair of socks from my cat's hair as he is a fluffy boy who sheds a lot. Luckily she declined with a look of horror as I can't knit.

The rituals gift set if I was your SIL.

😮😂 so funny and awful in equal measure !
I do know someone who needle felted a cat brooch for another friend using her own cats fur , the receiver was genuinely distraught about it!

Get her some pjs from M&S online and you can email the gift receipt to her so she can swap if she doesn’t like them.

Omg, that is a really bad present. What was she thinking???

I'd love the rituals set.

Letmegohome · 29/11/2024 16:47

@murasaki I've no idea I watched it happen in slow motion, the absolute delight on the givers face the utter WTF on the receivers face followed by dry heaving

A Hotel Chocolat three month subscription?

CandyCane457 · 29/11/2024 17:07

1 or 3!

I love my cat and am obsessed with her, but not really interested in other random cats so the calendar wouldn’t do it for me!

Depends what sort of chocolate she likes. Would be a waste for me as I only like really dark stuff.

Assuming she isn’t a M+S boycotter……

So far it's seems to be between the rituals set and my cat socks 😂 these seem to have caused the least offence! Good luck @Elf36

Birdscratch · 29/11/2024 17:50

Chocolates, gym leggings or the toiletries (but only if she likes that brand.) I’d add a grow your own catnip or cat grass kit as a little bit of silliness.

If I got gym leggings I'd see it as a pass agg dig that I needed to go the the gym.

Elf36 · 29/11/2024 21:23

So would I! but she definitely goes to the gym most days so she wouldn't see it as a dig fairly sure.

I take the point though

I would get her something from sweaty Betty or lululemon if she likes going to the gym.

I'd hate pjs or rituals.

Mill3nnial · 29/11/2024 21:27

I love a diary and pyjamas but I'm fussy and like to choose my own.

I think a calendar or nice gift set like rituals or loccitane or molton brown is lovely

my other go to idea this year is benefit mascara gift sets - lots of women wear mascara

ObieJoyful · 29/11/2024 21:28

Out of your suggestions, I’d go for a really nice plant, or a candle.
