Are the genuine Oodies worth it?
Tempted by the sale they have on!
I do have other hoodie blankets but non branded.

I love my oodie but find it really difficult to wash and dry. It's so heavy that it takes ages to dry properly then always end up smelling a bit musty, so I don't wear it as much as I'd like.

Pumpkittenspice · 24/11/2024 22:07

I’ve had my Oodie for around 4 years now. I’d be completely lost without it now. I know this because I’m always lost when it’s in the wash! I absolutely love my Oodie.

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 24/11/2024 22:14

@TeenGreenBottles I googled 'ebay True_face' and it was the first one to come up

I have a kudd.ly . They're slightly cheaper than oodies but have beaten them in tests.

Tha main problem is that they get too warm. I also own a Primark one and wear that a lot more often

User364837 · 24/11/2024 22:25

Agree they are different to the cheaper rip offs
my dds have them and I too find them too heavy and too warm, nightmare to get dry after washing and not comfortable to move around in due to the weight. But they are warm for sure! One dd uses hers loads. The other not at all

Thank you! I was searching their items directly on eBay, no idea why it wouldn't come up.

@TeenGreenBottles No probs! Remember only to get the designs that Oodie sells as they're the ones we've found to be genuine!

@NotmySundaybest plenty of people on the Christmas bargains thread have, including myself. They've also been mentioned on HotDealsUk and have an Amazon store (so I read in HotDealsUk) so I'm guessing a Google should bring up reviews on them.

familyissues12345 · 25/11/2024 09:56

I have one that I loved at first, but I find it a bit of a faff to wash and being a bit of a sweaty peri woman that's not great! So it hasn't come out of storage this winter yet, think I'll stick to my dressing gown and blanket!

Bloody love Oodie sleep tees though, they're magnificent!

I've ordered one, not totally sure if it's genuine or not but was worth a try for the price.

Edited: sorry, that sounds like I don't believe you that they're genuine, what I actually mean is I'm not sure I've ordered the correct design! But I do trust you!

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 25/11/2024 19:32

@TeenGreenBottles 😁 it's absolutely fine, send a pic or tell me which one you've ordered if you want and I'll see if I recognise it as Oodie ☺️ you can also check the tag when it comes, the Oodie tags will be cut off but you might be able to see the bottom of the infinity logo or davies company or something at the very base of the tag (I cant check yet but it was something that was identifiable!)

PiggyPigalle · 25/11/2024 19:47

Too much bulk, returned fluffy dressing gowns for the same reason.

I never wanted one, but received a gift of a heated throw. Too restricting over me but I drape it over my chair and sit on it. Now I love it as I can keep getting up to cook and stuff.

It's this one, definitely not one of the ones they've got at the moment but it was my favourite pattern!

DuckDuckGoosieGander · 25/11/2024 23:53

Absolutely love my oodie and now have two. They wash brilliantly and just like new. Bought the original one to try and cut back on heating. Bought the second as I loved the design! They e saved me a fortune in heating bills and the rest of the family are now converts. Highly recommend if you feel the cold.

Trumpton · 26/11/2024 00:34

I bought an Oodie on offer. I took it to pieces and remade i! It was just too bulky. I have an other type that is Sherpa backed while the Oodie is a separate lining. So effectively an Oodie is like wearing two of the others!
Too hot for me so far this year.

filo1111 · 26/11/2024 06:36

Oodie products are good but be warned if thinking of buying for Christmas!!

I'm still waiting on orders from October 20th, November 5th and November 14th to even be despatched. Money was taken immediately. At least one item has now gone out of stock and another they 'oversold'.

Customer service is dreadful. If they're still working on despatching some October orders when it's nearly December, I'd only buy now for Christmas if the recipient realises they might be waiting until after Christmas for delivery.

They keep doing sale after sale and cannot keep up with the demand.
And this isn't a new thing either; there is a long thread here on MN about delays this time last year too.
So if you're lucky and your order ships quickly you should be fine, but if your order is delayed expect to be in for a loooooong wait.

And to answer the original question, I have one real Oodie and one The Comfy (they claim to be the original and featured on Shark Tank in the US). The Oodie is lovely and soft, but The Comfy is thicker and warmer. The Comfy is sometimes reduced on Amazon and I think Costco did them quite cheap last year. Might be another option.

hiredandsqueak · 26/11/2024 07:07

Dd has a couple of Oodies and then a couple of non branded ones. The one she wears the most is the Dunelm one because it isn't as cumbersome. If she wears the Oodie it usually means she is just chilling in front of the TV as they are too big and heavy to do much else.

filo1111 · 26/11/2024 18:14

Just to add to my post above re The Comfy - this is the Costco link. They seem to be in stock and well worth £24. Heavier than an Oodie if you're someone who feels the cold.
I'm new so I really hope the link works - if not Google Costco The Comfy and you'll get it!

Have ordered this as well, coming Sat hopefully and the Onesnug has come but its all packaged up and dont want to open it all out, but feels nice.

lazyarse123 · 27/11/2024 22:17

I'm glad I saw this thread as I have just bought 3 for my adult kids. Two arrived today and the other is due tomorrow, fingers crossed.
My dd wfh and her flat is freezing, she wears a knock off one at the moment so I'm hoping this will be better as last year she actually got chilblains, her home insulation is shocking.
Opinions seem about 50/50 so I think they'll be fine especially as all my kids are quite tall.

LilacLilyBird · 27/11/2024 23:29

We have real Oodies

They're very warm and we wear them every winter

I love the big pocket to put everything in

I love how oversized they are

I don't wear them all day long just when I feel the chill

pineapple7peach · 27/11/2024 23:31

I have a Snuddie To Go from Primark and I love it so much. Bought it last year and I wear it loads during the colder months

Mine has arrived! It's definitely not a real one as it's branded in packaging as a Huggle. It's cosy and warm though without being too cumbersome, and the pattern is great so I'm pleased for the price.

TeenGreenBottles · 28/11/2024 09:00

It's a lot longer at the front but I guess that's good for going to the toilet and doesn't matter if you're sat down?

Bitchillywillytoday · 28/11/2024 11:52

Well the True Face one has just arrived, dear god its dreadful! Its branded as Huggle as above

The inner bag was open and stank of a kind of damp/mildew smell, the shape is all over the place, down at the front up/down at the back not even straight and flapping about. Im 5.3 not tall but it was just below my hips, way to short, so going back £12 or not, I not wasting money on that rag!

Off to open the other one I bought to check.
