It’s that time again! Anyone else waiting for the queue to open?

For some unknown reason I thought it was 8am not 6am. I had my alarm set and everything! How on earth did I misread that?

I now have a wait time of more than an hour and I’m holding out no hope of getting anything, let alone what I wanted! 😂

Mines not showing further deliveries after 25 Nov, am I missing something. Been queuing for an hour!

You have to have a delivery saver plan to get early access today.

And it has to be the Anytime plan not just the midweek

chattyness · 05/11/2024 07:34

all done , phew! good luck everyone x

If you’ve found this stressful, I booked an Ocado Xmas shop about 4 weeks ago with zero waiting or queueing or aggro. But I get it if you enjoy this process, tis the season 😄🎄🦃

Yeah I hopped on the Asda app and got a slot straightaway the other week - no queue no delay and no hassle. Same every year.

Keepmedicationoutofthereachofchildren · 05/11/2024 07:41

Completed mine at 7 mins past 7 - in the queue from 6 - whew!

CwmYoy · 05/11/2024 07:41

Had to wait well over an hour and couldn't get first 2 choices for 23rd but got 3rd choice.

I’ve done the same thing!!! I’ve just logged in now to try and get prepared and it’s an hours queue. Bugger!

BeyondMyWits · 05/11/2024 07:43

It’s only tesco that’s like this, I said I might actually swap to Sainsburys to avoid this next year

TulipTuesday · 05/11/2024 07:46

I joined the queue at 6 and had ‘wait time is more than hour’ so I went back to sleep with my alarm set to wake me up in intervals so I could check.
Just checked out with the slot I wanted at 7:35. Perfect.

Notyetthere · 05/11/2024 07:47

I joined the queue at 7am. We are 58mins now. Fingers crossed slots are still available.

Ah I did wonder. I’ve almost been waiting for this thread! 😂

I have to ask, what are these queues? Why do you need to sign up at different stores to get in a queue? What does signing up get you?

In the USA, so have never heard of this.

So delivery slots for home delivery near to Christmas get booked up really quick
People queue on the website on the day the slots open to reserve/get the best slots for their food to be delivered

They are virtual queues to get onto the website to book home delivery of groceries in the few days leading up to Christmas, the most prized times. Many subscribers to home delivery services take out a delivery pass, which allows any number of deliveries for a single fixed cost each month, and those people get advance access to booking Christmas slots. Tesco released theirs this morning, hence this excitable thread.

Tumbleweed101 · 05/11/2024 06:49

I found they booked up in 2020 and 2021 really fast but last year they still had loads open a few days before Xmas even in December.

They got new vans a couple of years ago and increased the fleet so that come December they have many many more delivery slots available than before.

A time slot for delievery of your shopping. Lots of people use them year round, just pick a slot and order your food online and then it turns up within your chosen hour slot. If you want a specific busy time eg 10 on Saturday morning you normally book about a week in advance but random times and dates are avaliable a couple of days in advance. But come Christmas the slots are released early and are booked up straight away. At Christmas the supermarkets are really busy so getting an online food shopping is much nicer.

You have to be signed up for a delivery plan to get access to the first phase of the time slots released. I use Tesco online food delievery durring the year so I have a delievery saver plan because it’s cheaper than paying for each delivery.

All done now, took one and three quarter hours, but Xmas and new year slot secured with a bunch of bananas!

Firsttimegran · 05/11/2024 08:00

Queued for almost 2 hours but all checked out. Not many slots available here for the 23 rd but managed

Same with morrisons. Logged on in the middle of the day to order a normal shop about 6 weeks ago and it said 'would you like to book your Christmas shop too' so I selected 23rd December. Can't believe Tesco is this much hassle!

BeyondMyWits · 05/11/2024 08:02

Done and dusted. Was exactly 1hr 45min after logging in (at 6.08 when I got up)
There were loads of slots available. We got 22nd am as usual (every Sunday 11-12 for over 20 years unless they dont deliver on a particular sunday... but we still have to queue for that one)

iwentjasonwaterfalls · 05/11/2024 08:04

Done and dusted, placeholder bananas for christmas shop and post-christmas shop. Now to remember to update the order so I don't end up with just bananas.

LadyofRutshire · 05/11/2024 08:09

Joined the que and waited 2 hours. Finally got in and would only let me go up to the 25th of November. Popped back to this thread to see if anyone else was experiencing this "glitch"

Only to find here that today's slots are for delivery pass holders only 🤦‍♀️

I've never had a tesco email or information on the app about Christmas slots.

Going to make a coffee and have a hard think about my life 😕 🤣

AxolotlEars · 05/11/2024 08:10

It was a two hour wait for me!
