Hi all. So for the first time ever I will be hosting Christmas Day dinner in my home.

And to that end, I've decided to give my house a massive clean, declutter & reorganisation (very badly needed!).

I've worked out there are 16 weekends to Christmas (well actually 17 but I want to use the last one for food prep) so I'm dividing my house into 16 sections & going to spend one day every weekend on a different section.

I'm starting this weekend. Would anyone like to join?

Can I join in need to massively declutter have been given notice by my landlord. I'm not sure how long we will have around 6 months. I'm trying to declutter everything so not so much to take. I'm putting some stuff on vinted but if it hasn't sold in a month it's going to the charity shop

Only now realised I’ve missed the H&B advent calendar, I loved it the year before last and vowed to get it last year (failed) and again this year (failed again)!

My favourite day was a full tube of organic toothpaste, second by a REN skin cream I still buy now. Very unpredictable.

Im getting the Botanical Candles advent instead, but I am jealous…

I think I first got REN products in a H&B BAC, too.
M&S started stocking them so I tended to buy them from there.

We are helping pils empty a relatives house atm and its hard work ☹️
At last count we've moved 500 books, 2 car loads of linen/bedding/blankets, 3 car loads of art/paintings/mirrors...😬

Joining again, after last year.

Had a massive sort of of the DVDs, CDs and books from the bookshelves in the hall.

Emptied the garage of rubbish and things we've not used all year.

Taken everything down from the loft, had it measured up for more boarding (only the centre is currently boarded) and then got rid of all of DSs baby stuff.

Sorted through the Christmas bags and boxes.

Sorted through the toy box in the front room.

4 car loads to the recycling centre.

250 items listed and collected on Olio.

60 jars of chutney, jams and jellies made.

Now I can start the cleaning 😂

I cleaned the inside of the oven door the other day , sitting on the floor is not good for old bones but neither is crouching. I ended up using a small stepping stool. One of those bladed glass scrapers - really efficient - then a spray of Elbow Grease. I need to clean the base but that's a job for another day.
It's 10 weeks till Christmas Eve so I have 7 weekends till the beginning of December ( we're away for a weekend then)

I need to check that I have crockery ,might need a couple more bowls as at least one is chipped.
Then I need to do the door surrounds and windowsills , and the skirting boards. Which means rubber gloves,hot soapy water , one of those squishy sponges and time to recover from the inevitable back ache !

DH is emptying stuff from the garage but we need a Man With A Van pick up which I'm leaving to him to organize

I've booked an oven clean for the week before Christmas (£40)
They take it apart, rubber seals and all...it looks brand new when they've finished ✨️
Dh needs to do the freezers...he insists its an "easy" job so its his job, now 😊
Of course it hasnt been done this year...🙄😬

I refuse to get my oven done before the period of heaviest use for the oven. I think I'll get it done afterwards. TBH, it's not that bad, as we don't use it much, and I tend to keep on top of it as well.

70, I'm a bit weird, as I clean all of my woodwork (doors, door frames, skirting etc) almost every week.

I have it done end of summer (kids at home a lot, so oven gets used more..) then prior to christmas so its lovely and clean before the big day 🎄

I'm going to employ the skills of DS to clean the skirting boards , he's more bendy

I've bought a long handled/bendy skirting board cleaner thing...haven't used it yet...😀

No energy to do much more

I've done a load of ironing this evening and a general clean . Skirting boards and doors need a good clean as well as some paint touch ups which I plan to do over the next couple of weeks . Also plan to clean all the carpets upstairs with the carpet cleaner .

So far today I've;
Dropped dd at the train station
Checked on mum
Sorted the washing for later
Hoovered downstairs
Sorted the recycling
I've got a friend coming soon for coffee so I think that's it for today 😄

Oh...and
I've ordered a whicker Christmas tree 🎄 skirt 😀

Mostly washing today to be done.
Dh is out, dd1 is in London and dd2 has a friend here.
I've had to go to town to return a couple of damaged items and got dd2 a jumper and dh some pjs for Christmas.
I'll probably whip up a pan of soup later 😋

Shower curtain and bathmats now in , and after the catch up Eastenders , I'll clean the bathroom
Made banana bread to use up some over ripe ones
Vacuumed hall
Ordered a couple of Christmas things

I've got my cards to ready to write (don't send many these days..)

No swamp you cannot even think , let alone utter "I might be done" as The Twitch will get you .

DS Birthday is December , he's been wittering about a Switch so that can be a look at Black Friday search .

DD was asking about a London Christmas shopping day probably Nivember before it gets too busy . We have a "Goes Wrong" play in December so that;ll be the dress up warm and see the pretty lights time .

On the Clean-A-Long lines I;ll get DD to sort through old pyjamas to recycle and once I buy DS new ones he can recycle after Dec 1st .

Try very for the switch...they used to do really good deals for "new" customers...when I got dds it was a lot cheaper from there..
I opened an account, got the discount, then paid it off and closed the account 😊

There was one on Costco but with a SuperMario game and another with a Pokemon game which he'd be more likely to play -need to log in to see the price , don't think it's instore .

Clean-a-Long : sorted the freezers in the garage ( 2 small ones ) they need defrosted . One has a drain so I'll do that one first then the other one can be switched off and the ice removed when soft enough .

Then when the fridge/freezer in the kitchen needs defrosted again, I have space for things . Need this done before the Christmas Fridge , but there's always the fear it won;t re-start . !
