Hi all. So for the first time ever I will be hosting Christmas Day dinner in my home.

And to that end, I've decided to give my house a massive clean, declutter & reorganisation (very badly needed!).

I've worked out there are 16 weekends to Christmas (well actually 17 but I want to use the last one for food prep) so I'm dividing my house into 16 sections & going to spend one day every weekend on a different section.

I'm starting this weekend. Would anyone like to join?

I managed to tackle the big larder cupboard yesterday and three other kitchen cupboards . Will continue with the rest today . Conservatory will be next on my list and will be a big job . However no point doing it until DH has finished tidying the garden . The house also needs lots of paint touch ups , particularly the hallway , we have young children and light walls

Living room is clean, tidied and decorated. We even put acoustic wood paneling on the false wall DH built to hide the cables for the tv and speakers.

Windows: method Window cleaner
Skirting boards: soapy water and elbow grease spray
Roof blinds: bio washing gel
Tiled floor - Lemon floor cleaner and hot water
Sills - elbow grease spray
I'm washing the sofa covers and throws, too (bio laundry gel)
Hoovered up all the cobwebs and dust
It's a big job 😫

This week, I dumped another bag of paper when I was doing a final sort of what would fit in my case and what I didn’t need.

I am now back in the apartment and managed to finally get the plumber to come and deal with the leaking toilets. So I spent a good portion of the week cleaning away (most of) the limescale buildup on both toilets - there had been no point before as the constant leak meant all products were being washed away so couldn’t act. I also deep cleaned the shower trap - the hair that catches there traps soap scum and dirt, even though I clear out the hair a couple of times a week.

I also cleaned off the light switches, as I noticed 1 was quite grubby and ended up doing them all (quite a few were grubby when I looked!). And the cupboard the kitchen bins are kept also got done, and properly wiping down the cupboard fronts in the kitchen (especially the surround around the dishwasher, where coffee drips happen).

the last thing I did was throw a bunch of water into the grill pan in the oven when I was turning off the grill yesterday, and checked on an hour later to wipe off the oven door where the steam had softened up the grease. The oven itself needs a good cleaning but that’s more complicated.

So mostly small jobs but ones that don’t get done often and make a difference. I might manage to clean the balcony doors today as the dry summer has meant a lot of dust in the air, even 11 stories up!

I've stripped all the beds and most of its already on the line.
Just need to dust and hoover, but I'm feeling quite tired 😫

This past week, I’ve been concentrating on the dining room. I’ve been wanting to change the seat pads and lampshade colours for ages. Wanted to go for navy blue to follow on from my kitchen. Decided to take the plunge and use fabric paint (as seen on the Interior Design Masters show with Alan Carr).

I’m so glad I did. Fiddly but well worth it. Also cleaned and sorted shelves as I was waiting for bits to dry.

Next jobs are sorting, cleaning and replenishing the pantry shelves so that I’ve got all my Christmas baking ingredients ready to go. And buying a few nice bits to go in the Christmas food and drinks hamper I’ll be putting together.

I've finally ordered my new sofa covers.
Dark grey for autumn/winter.
More washing today, mostly clothes.
Few bits of ironing done.
I need to clean my windows inside and use my carpet cleaner in mats/high traffic areas.
In fact, I might do that today...busy week next week 😬

I keep giving myself extra jobs to do! 😩😬🤣

I've ordered a load of plants to get the (new build) back garden properly planted up. Unfortunately for DH me, that means I also need to sort out a load of paving / the path / a patio as well. It'll look lovely once done (so I keep telling myself!), so I need to crack on and do it.

I have started sorting out the playroom / conservatory. It's taking ages . I have piles of stuff to sell and take to the charity shop. I have also repainted the toy storage units we have in there and they have come up really well! Loosing my motivation now 😔.

I've just got my autumnal wreath and pumpkins down from the loft...🍁🍂🙌😃

@swampwitch0 when are you putting them out ? I need to get mine out ! X

Autumn is the season to start getting cosy and hygge, but also reflection and letting go of crap in life and plan ahead so you are ready.

I managed to wash 1 outside window today (my bedroom), but not the balcony ones. I also sorted my travel drawer (wash bags ready to go, stash of sewing kits etc) and the “throw everything there” shelf in the wardrobe. Fixed a couple of things (tightened screws, relaxed double sided tape, replaced insulation against wind around windows). But I need to do ironing…

Can I hop on please? I got on top of DS’s room over the weekend, DD has sorted her own, and I’ve been painting sample pots today! Plan for this weekend is to paint ceilings and skirtings etc in hall, stairs and landing. Then walls next weekend. I’m off on Thursday and my aim is to get a pile of stuff on Vinted and declutter at least one drawer of doom…

We need to get dds art stuff out of the loft and I need to clean the windows inside
Hoping some garden weeding gets done at some point

I was going to re-cover the dining room chairs, but I can't find the fabric I wanted to use 🙄. It was in DH's study but the moment I take the chairs apart and pull all the staples out to get the fabric off it disappears.

Should probably have checked I had the fabric first thinking about it.
