Has anyone ever bought anything from the website on buy ? Everything seems so cheap so not sure if they are fakes ? Thank you

daisyboo1 · 27/08/2024 19:14

Thank you, @Darkbutstarrynight I'll have a look at those. They look ideal.

D20 · 27/08/2024 19:16

On buy is like Wish/Temu/Ali but it has been going donkeys years.

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 27/08/2024 19:20

Hi Everyone, also been here from the start I think, actually one of the first pages I found when I got my first smart phone! Your warmth and kindness got me through a few tricky years, especially the darkest nights with PND. So thanks @Sideorderofchips and @Reastie. Surprised no-one ever mentions the bargain teepees we had one year, think it was about 2014ish, absolutely huge and about £10 from memory!

Anyway, on to this year's bargains, bigjigs has a good sale on atm, lovely wooden toys including wooden food that someone was asking for.

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 27/08/2024 19:22

@Autumnleaves, On buy is definitely fakes, lots of us got stung with cheap Uno one year!

autumnleaves8888 · 27/08/2024 19:26

Thanks @IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile i will stay clear from it xx

Spaceracers · 27/08/2024 19:38

I've been on these threads about five years under various names - one of the early bargains for me was the ice cream cart for £25!

My grinch behaviour is feeling irrationally annoyed when people start fretting unnecessarily about running out of pages and a new thread is started before page 40. Last year someone started a new thread (not reastie) and they were told off!!

I like the chat though!

Can’t believe it’s this time of year again! Thanks for the thread!

Cupofteaandbiscuits · 27/08/2024 20:15

A recommendation on this thread last year proved to be the big hit of Christmas and is still used every day! For my 9 year old DD

Reastie · 27/08/2024 20:44

@RainbowZebraWarrior that is one rabbit hold to fall down! So 13 years - wow! That must've been DDs second Christmas in 2012! I remember the early days when the traffic was light enough that I used to do the OP message with a huge list of the codes and bargains and links to everything popular. I just can't keep up with doing that now!

Hi, I'm new here. I have a toddler who is going to be 3 in October. It was just to say (sorry if someone else has said) but house of fraser has some beautiful wooden toys reduced massively on this link https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/brand/toylife#dcp=3&dppp=59&OrderBy=rank

Also online4baby I got an amazing car garage reduced to half price and they have loads of ride along tractors etc half price. 😊

Amazing, thank you! Just got a wooden tea set, easel, 3 puzzles, 2 soft toys for under £50 including delivery

ClaraLane · 27/08/2024 21:58

I got two beautiful wooden train sets early last December for my then 3 year old from Lidl of all places - they had an offer on all toys being half price so I think we paid £35 in total for two brilliant ones. Can definitely recommend! Alternatively perhaps have a look on Marketplace? I think Brio and Ikea are compatible together so you could combine them.

Bagofsocks · 27/08/2024 17:12

I got the phlat ball and tiger who came to tea so thank you!
I need a good train set for my 2 year old for Christmas any bargains please or best ones for recommended?

I just posted about train sets but it wouldn’t quote you - check out Lidl, we got 2 beautiful ones last year.

Am after some help please! Need to buy someone a travel mug or tiny thermos in stainless steel for their regular hospital trips. Ideally enough for one cup of tea! Can't be heavy and needs to be totally leak proof. Am thinking of making a pack (Christmas hamper) of items for them to keep ready and just for those trips. Does anyone have any recommendations for such a mug/flask please?

I rate Contigo which can be used one handed and is leak proof. Also keeps drinks hot and cold for hours. Top can go in the dishwasher too.

I got mine in HomeSense but I have seen them all over in Tesco/Asda etc.

daisyboo1 · 27/08/2024 22:04

Thanks @Nestnearlyempty I will definitely investigate these as that's two people recommending them.

imnottoofussed · 27/08/2024 22:29

I also just got two contigo from tkmaxx and they are currently upside down in the kitchen with water in and I can confirm no leaks

Not tested the heat retention yet

Bagofsocks · 27/08/2024 22:39

@ClaraLane Thank you il keep my eyes out 😊

Sainsburys had loads of stainless steel mugs in the sale, leak proof and loads of styles colours.

daisyboo1 · 27/08/2024 22:52

Thanks @Tereseta am going there tomorrow so will have a moochie. Hopefully I'll find a Contigo Byron there in the sale!

I ordered a couple of perfumes a while ago. I didn't realise it worked a bit like eBay in that goods come from individual sellers.
I didn't read the small print properly and one of the perfumes received was an ex tester so no lid and no box.
The other item was left on my doorstep by a courier whilst I was out (photo received, no attempt made to hide it) and was missing by the time I got home. I had an awful problem getting a refund from the individual seller but On Buy helped me get it (on the basis that it wasn't handed to me and I hadn't nominated a safe place).

I highly rate a SMASH stainless steel mug - always from Sainsbury’s sale!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 28/08/2024 00:11

I like Contigo too. People on here usually recommend the West Loop, but I bought the Luxe because I found it a bit slimmer and easier to hold.
