Did we forget to mention the year when everyone bought socks and candles from Hush until Hush had a bit of a strop and called out customers for immorally sharing discount codes? 😂

I'm still bitter about that. And a skincare company did the same. Can't remember who but I'm probably still boycotting them. 🤣

Can't believe noones mentioned

The cookie jars that made noise when you open the lid
The M&S light up biscuit tins
Someone kicking off that we chat too much
That Razor company we all rinsed that one year... CORNERSTONE! And we actually loved it and ended up subbing

I'm loving reading everyone's memories because it's really taking me back to my own memories. I actually bought the Cornerstone for a man I've now divorced, met a new partner and had a new baby in a new house.

But the comfort that this stays the same has been invaluable at times ❤️

And do you remember Gadget the robot? I think I was one of the few who received it. It was rubbish too! 😂

I'm so grateful to @reastie and @Sideorderofchips and all the regular contributors to these threads. This feels like a safe, cosy corner of MN and a slight retreat from the real world!

I am so thankful for all the bargains over the years and have been around for at least 10 of them. They make my Christmas and therefore the Christmases of those I love better.

This part of mumsnet is the best of the best, combining sharing, kindness and humour and I feel lucky to be a small part of it.

Until someone inevitably pops up to tell us we are talking too much or using affiliate links that are actually mumsnets doing 😂

Tuyouyou · 26/08/2024 22:47

I'm a frequent name changer and even changed my email address due to one of the privacy leaks but I've been around a while.
Thank you all 🍻 👏 it really is such a space and has helped me loads over the years.
My favourite memory/bargain was the john lewis glitch

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2024 22:49

Ooh, bloody hell. The JL glitch caused a proper furore!

StopInhalingRevels · 26/08/2024 22:50

Sorry, but would it be ok if we started another thread for chat, whilst it's lovely, it just derails from the bargains, don't you agree?

Speaking of Zavvi they have 3 t shirts for £20. Much wider range than usual offer. Also 5 funko ones for 14.99. I have ordered t shirts from them several times with no issues.

VeruccaSalty · 26/08/2024 23:43

Also Bakugan set for £5 on Amazon. Says 19.99 originally, seems unlikely though given the size!

bakugan

christmaspudding43 · 27/08/2024 07:07

I've been here since the start I think. Woolovers was my favourite bargain but there have been some great ones over the years. The camaraderie is lovely to see and it is definitely the cosiest corner of MN for me.

I like the chat, it's what makes the threads. I have to confess though that 3/4 pages of 'place marking' or 'thanks reastie' on each new thread does make me mildly stabby. Sorry, I shall retire back to my corner and hang my head in shame.

Fuckingfuckssake · 27/08/2024 07:43

Or sometimes, to save time when posting, it was just one word: "BUNS!!!" 😂

VeruccaSalty · 27/08/2024 08:28

My cinnamon buns remain unbaked in the box, just two or three years out of date...

Anyone got a code for spicery ? I want to buy gift but hard to pay full price...

Those cinnamon buns were amazing 🤤

I’ve been here since having DD who is now 7 and have had some brilliant bargains over the years thanks to you wonderful bunch. One was a set of TurtleDoves fingerless gloves for my now departed granddad which my nan gave back to me when I broke my wrist this year as the skin was so sensitive on my wound that I couldn’t bear to wear jumpers but was so cold. They’re perfect - so cosy and warm and I’d never have heard of them without you all ❤️

FIL still hasn’t drunk his Smashed Grapes wine (prick!) and I don’t think my husband’s nan ever did use that beautiful soap from Dr Botanicals.

I think my best bargain last year was the sock advent calendar from White Stuff for £1.80!! That did all of DD and DS’s teacher and nursery staff as Christmas presents and I love that White Stuff didn’t cancel on us.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 27/08/2024 09:07

@ClaraLane I was the one responsible for the Turtle Doves. (I won't disclose how many pairs I bought when they were only £7.99)

I have also worn my White Stuff socks all year round as I managed to blag two calendars. This morning I am sporting reindeer ones. It's really never occurred to me that they are mostly Christmas themed. Good old White Stuff!

Never did like the Cinnamon Buns myself, but they did make a good gift (nicely weighty and it's always pleasing to wrap a box shape!)

My Dad never got round to drinking his smashed grapes wine, I dont think. He did eat the cheese, though. I also still have one bar of Dr. Botanicals soap left. It's the rhubarb, and while it has lost it's scent, it's still quite a vivid pink!

Anyway, my offering for today is for anyone living in North East England If you buy tickets for Northern Stage production of A Christmas Carol before 12 September, then kids tickets are free I've done it for years and it ends up being a very reasonable and lovely evening out (DD no longer wants to go, but we have some fond memories, and they really do put on a fantastic show)

Bolded important parts so they stand out from my wafflings.

GoldBard23 · 27/08/2024 09:20

Echo Pops are reduced on Amazon from £44.99 to £21.99. They come in variety of colours. Just got the purple and blue ones for my girls.

HelpMeDrRanj · 27/08/2024 09:28

Small saving here, but the board game 'Monkey See, Monkey Poo' is down to £9 on an amazon deal. It's £10-20 normally so not a huge saving, but cheap for a board game if you have young children (or immature friends)

Have you bought before? I'll try to stick my referral code on the referral thread (by try, I'll do it if I can find it!).

I think spicebox10 may work too.

I think I've seen Referral codes on the referrals thread.
