‘Little luxuries’ gifts

Darlinghag · 26/07/2024 09:49

Hi all,

This week has been the week I start to consider Christmas gifts.

Does anyone have their suggestions or favourite gifts that might be considered little luxuries?

Fancy socks? Some kind of food gift? A type of book?

Any type of person, any age, or gender. I would consider anything under £100 reasonable, although for a lot of folks I probably spend £20-£50.

Interested to hear what folks have either given or received that fall in this vein!

Diptyque candles
Chanel hand cream / compact mirror always a hit
Bottle of champagne
Waterstones / theatre gift card

I always accompany gifts with a handmade art card from local artists.

I love some personalised luxury make-up, e.g. Dior lipstick engraved with my name.
Expensive bottles of wine/champagne I’d feel guilty buying. Some champagne brands offer personalised goods too.
Lovely soaps, like Claus Porto - this set is so pretty https://www.fortnumandmason.com/claus-porto-deco-soap-gift-box-9x50g?gclsrc=aw.ds&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Pmax+-+Hampers+-+Generics&utm_term=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21503336557&gbraid=0AAAAADpHNw2_2E2wLworZQxjlMnjKjtqk&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4d6mlJXrkAMV_6RQBh0OEgmtEAQYASABEgLFyfD_BwE

A parent bought me a bottle of Moet in a personalised tin 3-4 years ago. Something I'd never buy, but great fun 😁

Fenty Body Butta which is ludicrously expensive for body lotion (roughly £30 a pot) but is hands down the best one I've tried and makes my skin feel incredible. I do think black owned brands get body lotion right.

itsthetea · 15/11/2025 09:16

I love socks and bars of soap for some reason
and chocolate in a box
or proper loose leaf tea as someone else has said
and Pom Pom hats - I only have one hat I mean someone must notice

Snackpocket · 15/11/2025 09:25

God I wish I was exchanging presents with you lot this year. Lots of lovely sounding gifts. Sadly wouldn’t be appreciated by the in-laws and we only do a token gift secret Santa style with my side of the family. Might suggest some nice bits to DH though!

Edited

I’ve added this to my wishlist, I love a good body lotion.

Managed to find a big neom candle in the charity shop so have treated myself, a little Christmas luxury for me! It was still quite expensive but a good deal and feel I've given a little back to a good cause too. I guess it shows one person's trash is another's treasure.

Thanks for the ideas all. I've ordered a few bits reccomended for gifts - the fig oil, F&M biscuits and some loose leaf tea from Bird and Bird which I can really see the recipients enjoying.

I love a stoneware coffee mug so have asked the kids to get me these https://www.endclothing.com/gb/hkliving-coffee-mugs-set-of-6-kst0011.html

there are some beautiful gardening almanacs that I wouldn’t buy myself but would love as a gift and Niwaki garden tools

I got Dp some Darn Tough socks - they are guaranteed against holes (always a problem with him)

I also really rate Niwaki tools, I got DH a garden tool holster and some bits from Niwaki last year.

Good tip on Darn Tough socks, could be a good call for DF.

I hope you get it and love it! A little goes a long way.... I put some on this morning and keep stroking my legs as they feel so nice 😂😂😂

I also get and love the little penhaligons perfume selection box the one I got last last year is running out now.
They are 50 and you get a selection of 5 I think.

My girls love their silk pillow cases

Are the pillow cases easy to care for? I've thought of one for my daughter but she'd curse me if it needed hand washing/ironing! I've read up about a few but the care labels put me off 😁

AlpineadventuresandCowbells · 20/11/2025 11:35

Oh yes I chick in with normal washing I don't separate anything and they are fine but check it's real silk

I am loving the thought of cashmere wrist warmers, do they really work? Don’t your fingers get cold? What shop should I buy them from? Lots of lovely ideas on here.

CatsMother66 · 21/11/2025 09:14

@theresbeautyinwindysun They say to cool down you put your wrist under cold running water and it cools your blood, same with keeping your wrist warm, it keeps your fingers warm. Not sure about an absolutely freezing day when out and about but generally I feel like they work.
Great for shopping when you don’t have to take your gloves off, my elderly Mum swears by them for keeping her hands warm whilst sitting in the house.
I have about 10 pairs, all different colours, love coordinating them to my clothing.
I have bought from Whinberry gifts and quality is lovely. Have also bought from Tazzie’s, her cashmere is much cheaper than else where and as she washes and tumble dries it, her gloves are thicker as they felt somewhat. Tazzie’s gloves have a large opening for the thumb which I find cold, although a few stitches put in will solve the problem. Tazzie’s is on facebook where there’s a link to her eBay shop.

I love my Brora cashmere wrist warmers and cashmere snood

HevenlyMeS · 23/11/2025 14:06

Yes completely comprehend why you like Cashmeres, so soft & luxurious in my humblest opinion 💚🤗💚
