‘Little luxuries’ gifts

Darlinghag · 26/07/2024 09:49

Hi all,

This week has been the week I start to consider Christmas gifts.

Does anyone have their suggestions or favourite gifts that might be considered little luxuries?

Fancy socks? Some kind of food gift? A type of book?

Any type of person, any age, or gender. I would consider anything under £100 reasonable, although for a lot of folks I probably spend £20-£50.

Interested to hear what folks have either given or received that fall in this vein!

I also get and love the little penhaligons perfume selection box the one I got last last year is running out now.
They are 50 and you get a selection of 5 I think.

My girls love their silk pillow cases

caringcarer · 10/11/2025 13:44

I love a really premium bouquet of lillies and roses.

Falke Cosy Wool Socks - lovely and soft, not itchy and durable.

Neom candle

Strawberry champagne truffles

Cashmere hat

Arran Aromatics hand cream

Did my personal tastes in luxuries (little house stuff etc... from a bygone era of quality which no one else has mentioned, it might not be the 'common' taste but its MINE) offend you.

My answer is as valid as anyone else here and I can post where ever I like I don't need your permission and on top of that I wasn't even talking to you I was agreeing with another poster (who you weren't so rude too) about those things being wasted on ME (and they are, I get a tonne of random toiletries and repeat items I will never need every from IL etc...).

Of course it doesn’t, you are a person on another part of the internet, not my mate.

You’re right, i was more polite about it last year, and yet you still came on to a post, read the discourse, saw that I agreed with that poster that little luxuries are personal to an individual and still thought it was nice to have some ideas on those variations! So yes, i am a little more impatient this time round.

your own consideration on what is a little treat is useful! And you could have just said it, rather than be patronising about what other people have suggested instead.

maybe you’re just having a bad day, in which case, i hope it improves. Maybe a little luxury would help 😏

Couple of suggestions:

M and S do a box of caramel pinecones which are festive and go down a treat

Liberty have some cute Victorian style sewing kits. Similar at John Lewis in William Morris fabrics.

cityanalyst678 · 10/11/2025 17:45

I love a gift from Liberty’s, maybe beautiful stationary, body lotion, underwear, a cushion etc

Niederegger Marzipan Chocolate , only the plain chocolate /plain marzipan ones . Added bonus is no-one else likes it in our house so if I leave an open box it will be there when I go back .

I had a flower delivery subscription from DH last year and it had been such a joy. Every 3 weeks I get a lovely treat (you can select from 2 options or let them surprise you) and you can move around the delivery days or skip one if you’re away etc.

I always talk myself out of buying flowers even though I love them as I think the money could be better spent elsewhere.

My DM bought us port glasses as a bit of a joke as we’d said how much we enjoyed a glass. They have a straw like part so you drink from the bottom of the glass. They are fab and really change the flavour!

Cyberjammies or pure silk nightshirt
Fragrance
Candle - Jo Malone or White Company
Velvet or luxury robe
Booja booja chocs ( only decent vegan chocolate)
Chamoagne

AlpineadventuresandCowbells · 11/11/2025 19:58

Also chocolates i used to really enjoy choosing my own box of Audrey chocs !
But they changed the format to a minimum of three chocs so I refuse to buy there now.

I'm on the look out for smaller non mass produced great quality palm oil free chocs that are not all Leonids

Turtle Doves wrist warmers, cashmere bed socks, Lindt little gold bar chocolates (I don't know their real name but they are my favourite and annoyingly hard to find these days).

Turtle Doves moved a lot of their production to Saudi last year and the quality suffered. They were taken over by a private equity company who is less interested in the sustainability aspects & prices spiralled upwards.

Many of the staff who lost their jobs in the UK now work for a business called Whinberry Gifts. They have a similar ethos to the old Turtle Doves and the quality is much higher.

CatsMother66 · 11/11/2025 20:03

Just had an order from Whinberry gifts. They were wrapped individually in tissue paper like the old turtle doves and even the label is similar. Very pleased to have found them as the quality is lovely.

CatsMother66 · 11/11/2025 20:08

Forgot to add that Whinberrry gifts have 20% of their gloves at the moment with code earlyaccess

My mum normally buys me a fancy perfume for Xmas (think dior, ysl etc) and my sister provides the yearly supply of snow fairy from lush lol.

My partner and son are both gamers so to them a new game or controller/pc equipment and stuff is a luxury.

My daughter is only just 5 so everything is awesome at that age lol 😆

I generally like to try and tailor gifts to people based on their interest and if I can find something unique or not overly common that's a luxury I guess? Like I can buy stuff at comic con that's made by people or that's different for people who are into certain fandoms.

Ineffable23 · 11/11/2025 21:31

Rosie Sugden cashmere socks are my favourites. They have a bit of nylon in them and a bit of elastane so I find they stay fitted much better than others I've had. I've managed to get them on offer before but I don't know if they'll do anything before Christmas.

I also love fortnums loose leaf tea (surprisingly reasonably priced for decent loose leaf and you can get it at the st pancras and the Bank stores so don't have to brave the pre Christmas mania in the main shop).

Good olive oil and good balsamic are also favourites (belazu is lovely for balsamic, though a bit horrifyingly expensive now).

Specialagentblond · 11/11/2025 21:55

Heated eye mask
heated throw
i would appreciate and use up - anything from rituals

SmoothCollie · 11/11/2025 22:19

Silk lined beanie hat. absolute game changer for hair health/ frizz reduction. Don't be fooled by the only curls advertising which is everywhere, their hats are satin and you need silk.

AlpineadventuresandCowbells · 11/11/2025 22:28

@Cherryrainbow

That's interesting re gaming do you know anything about buying new handsets ! My DH likes it but I wouldn't know what to buy to upgrade. We have an x box

Hereslookinatyoukid · 11/11/2025 22:47

A tin of Charbonnel et Walker hot chocolate, and a small box of the truffles, always feels properly decadent to me.

CaminoPlanner · 11/11/2025 22:54

Cashmere socks, gloves or scarf.
A hardback/signed edition of a new book by a favourite author
Really nice bath products. E.g. Origins Ginger, Neom, Neal's Yard Geranium & orange, REN rose bath oil, Occitane Verveine.
Good face or hand creams (eg Origins Ginzing or Ortigia (which has the best packaging)
A beautiful mug or large cup and saucer. Maybe with some good quality tea, tisanes, hot chocolate or fresh coffee.
A new, good quality make up bag or sponge bag
An overpriced candle with a gorgeous scent (White Company Winter or Diptique Verveine)
Soft leather gloves

CharlotteCChapel · 12/11/2025 11:41

My gran liked having things like marron glacés, bath Oliver biscuits and baked as bubble bath.

crappycrapcrap · 12/11/2025 12:39

Luxury to me would be lovely warm blanket for the sofa, loccitane Amande hand cream (will try the shower oil now!) Sol de janiero lip balm (very teenage I know but it’s lovely!) Dior jadore perfume, the body shop rose shower gel in the really big size.
My sister often takes me and DC to the theatre but that’s beyond a little luxury - I’m very fortunate.
