Seems to be a similar thread each year, haven’t seen one yet so thought I would start one. What gift are you most excited about giving? Be it a gift to your dc, family member, partner or friend?

I made a gift for a friend, they will either love it or hat it, it’s kind of my first attempt at taxidermy 🤣 (insect, nothing gory involved), they collect insects specimens so it’s something they won’t be shocked by.

My dd is also getting a keyboard, sadly it’s not from me as by the time she asked for one I had done the shopping so her dad will get the glory when she opens it, but I know she’s going to love it. She has autism and just loves music so much.

It's a family present, theatre tickets for SIX! the musical. We saw the show as a family last new year's eve, and had a blast, but one of my DC has the sound track on repeat, so I think she'll wet herself.

I’ve got my DD tickets for Six! too, she’ll be thrilled to bits - she thinks we missed it at our local theatre bit I’ve bought tickets and will build a weekend away around going to see it in summer.

My kids love ordering mystery sweet boxes and drinks. I saw Snackverse on instagram and ordered them a box each. It is snacks from different countries each month but I've just ordered a gift box each. I cannot wait for them to see these.

Ifulikepinacoladas · 23/12/2023 22:31

PS5 for DS. He's not expecting it at all. He's a really lovely kid and we don't spoil DC rest of the year so love to get them big stuff at Christmas.
He's going to be beyond chuffed. We won't see him for most of the day after he's opened it...but no visitors til Boxing Day so he can go for it.

Chrispackhamspoodle · 23/12/2023 22:31

I'm actually really looking forward to giving the dog her new bed!

My son has ASD and Freddie Mercury got him though a lot. He worships him. And had a special interest in all things retro music.
I got accepted on a great offer for a signed vinyl of bohemian rhapsody. He's going to be blown away.

I'm blown away!!!

That's an amazing gift!!

So stupid but I went away with Dd several years ago and she admired a soft toy version of a museum exhibit she loved (the Egyptian blue hippo in Vienna) - I wouldnt buy it as it was too much. She recalled this wistfully earlier this year (she was a teen then and is 22 now but loves her cuddlies) so I ordered it. Obvs the postage charge was £££ but hey. I know she will love it.

LittleRedY0shi · 23/12/2023 22:38

4 year old DD does a weekend class that has introduced a class bear this term. She fell in love with it on first sight - eagerly awaited her turn, didn't put it down all week and has told me several times since then that she misses it. It never occurred to her to ask Santa for it, but I've found her an identical one - can't wait to see her reaction.

clary · 23/12/2023 22:40

@MrsElijahMikaelson1 wow jealous!

Mindovermatter247 · 23/12/2023 22:42

Dd11 has always wanted to go watch chelsea ladies with me and my dsis, no I feel she’s old enough, so I’ve got her tickets to Chelsea v Man U ladies in January. Where hopefully she’ll see Mary earps who she also loves.
my mum only wears certain trainers which the stopped and have now gradually brought them back. They were full price until Thursday, went on sale, I ordered and they arrived today.

scrivette · 23/12/2023 22:42

I have spent the last year telling DS that he isn't having an air up bottle and telling him why, however Father Christmas will be bringing him one. I can't wait to see his face.

Itslookinglikeabeautifulday · 23/12/2023 22:42

Both smallish gifts from Santa that will come as a surprise to my kids:

For DS, a book that, months ago, he mentioned to me looked really interesting. It was published in the US and I couldn't find it for sale in the UK. Two weeks ago I spotted it on eBay at a bargain £18 - used but in terrific condition.

For DD a necklace very similar to a Vivienne Westwood one she had been admiring....obviously minus the hefty price tag!

4pink1blue · 23/12/2023 22:43

My husband is a lego geek and I managed to find a retired set that's been on his wishlist forever!

aubergineman · 23/12/2023 22:45

A running buggy for DH. He's a passionate runner and has talked about the idea of running with DD since we found out we were expecting.

I'd half put him off the idea, so I don't think he'll be expecting it at all 🥹

Treaclepie19 · 23/12/2023 22:45

Dd3 hasn't stopped asking for a Sally doll since Halloween (nightmare before christmas) and I can't wait for her to open it.
Ds8 wants a vr headset and thinks he won't be getting it because he knows it's expensive but we got one black Friday!

NormaSnickers · 23/12/2023 22:47

My DS11 loves buses and trains and is particularly interested in the patterns in the upholstery (he’s autistic in case you couldn’t guess!) I’ve got him an actual seat from an old coach - he has no idea but I know he’ll love it! He also loves Eurovision and I got him a programme from this years contest, think he’ll love that too!

Latenightreader · 23/12/2023 22:48

My 5YO loves Harry Potter Dobble and her absolute favourite is Snape (she has never seen the films or read the books - she knows nothing apart from the game). I managed to find a Snape key ring in the same style as the Dobble picture. It was only about £3 but I think she’ll love it.

Roundaboot · 23/12/2023 22:48

Lovely thread, so many thoughtful ideas on here!
I'm most excited to give DS (16) Croc lights - he's going to love them!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 23/12/2023 22:53

BearSoFair · 23/12/2023 21:43

Stargazing binoculars for DS2. He has no idea and thinks headphones are his 'big' gift but we managed to get both with great Black Friday prices.

Could I ask you which ones you got, please? Appreciate they will likely be at a higher price now, but I want to treat myself with my Christmas money from parents.

Autumngirl7 · 23/12/2023 22:55

My son is autistic and his obsession is Disney Robin Hood. I managed to find someone selling them it was so hard coming across Robin and Marian but bought them both. Can’t wait to see his little face when he sees them.

MatJas · 23/12/2023 22:55

Im really excited for my dd to see her gift of tickets for Pulp at Edinburghs Hogmanay concert after missing out seeing them at transmt this year due to her age

Borris · 23/12/2023 22:57

A darts board for dd. She played at a friends house and then has asked and asked for one. I said no because I'm certain the novelty will wear off quickly and it will have to stay in the garage. But then I found a nearly new one for £3 on fb marketplace and bought it. She still keeps saying she wishes she was getting one so I think she'll be thrilled ... and I won't be annoyed when she gets fed up of it quickly 😂

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 23/12/2023 22:59

HamHand · 23/12/2023 21:30

Taylor Swift tickets for dd. I’ve kept them a secret since July, I am so excited to see her reaction.

That's fab! I've got Olivia Rodrigo tickets for Dd, I've spent the last three months telling her they were sold out.

I've also got DS a half season ticket for our team. He has no idea and I can't wait to tell him.

lorn195 · 23/12/2023 23:10

There are 3 presents that I am looking forward to see:

Two Arsenal football shirts (their home and away football kit) for DS16. He's a mad supporter of theirs. He knows that he's getting their home shirt, but not the away shirt 😊.

DS21 is getting a #44 (Lewis Hamilton) hoodie which came from the US. Irony is he bought a t- shirt from the same website and it's only just arrived in the UK (the hoodie arrived about a month ago 🤣).

I am also looking forward to DH getting his present from me but I can't tell you what it is as he knows I am on MN. 😉

CoodleMoodle · 23/12/2023 23:11

DD9: Arts and craft trolley that I've put together. She's spent all week making things out of random bits of paper and I know she'll love it. Plus, she'll have her own scissors, sellotape, stapler, hole punch etc and can stop stealing mine.

DS5: Lego hospital, ambulance and plane. DPs have got him the police station and PIL the fire station, and they all snap together to make one big city. He adores Lego! Although the other day he told me he has too much, which I can't really argue with... but I think he'll be happy anyway.

DM: Three plants she had on her Amazon list. I stupidly, stupidly bought them in November, think I was being productive, and DH and I have been fighting to keep them alive ever since (were not planty people!). Looking forward to her opening them generally, and also to absolving us of responsibility!

Yojjy · 23/12/2023 23:15

Oh these are so lovely! Please can we have updates on reactions after the big day?

I think mine is Tom Jones tickets for my mum. She’s a late convert after watching the Voice and said the other day she’d love to see him in concert. I saw the following day that he was about to go on tour so got tickets for the Piece Hall, which is gorgeous, and a night in a hotel. I don’t think she’ll be expecting it at all!
