What are people getting their DHs?

We’re not doing ‘big presents’ but I need to get him some things or he gets nothing. I’d still spend a £100.

He doesn’t drink, he buys what he needs. He doesn’t need clothes. The only hobby thing I could get in (genuinely outing, it’s not cycling) would be incredibly expensive. He doesn’t read books, he never watches the DVDs I get him.

Im lost. Can I hear what others have gotten for some ideas?

i also read flat cap as cat flap

Im sure I'm going to get slated for this selection, but: new teeshirts, latest book in a series he has enjoyed, and a light up house number for the house we've recently moved into....

He flies to the middle of the north sea for work next week, and there is a chance he won't make it home for Xmas if the weather stops flights. Given the conversation between DS2 and him wrapping presents tonight, I reckon I've got a jumper and some chocolates. I also reckon this is the earliest he has ever bought Xmas presents!

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 10/12/2023 21:22

I bought DH a fancy Swiss army knife.

Upsadiddles · 10/12/2023 21:22

Mine is getting a new Bluetooth speaker as the one we have is on its last legs. I’ve also got him a book, a big bottle of his favourite aftershave, some posh socks and pants, and a photo blanket with a funny picture of him and the DC on. Previous successes have been a pizza oven, fitbit and a vintage football shirt that he had as a child.

Bluelightbaby · 10/12/2023 21:28

theatre tickets
Shower speaker
Beard apron
Shirt
Hoodie
Mystery guide book (escape room type thing for a city)

I feel bad as it’s not much, he’s spent around £3k on me !!!!!!!! But I don’t earn a lot at all, he says he doesn’t want anything from me at all though

Sugarfree23 · 10/12/2023 21:32

@SnowsFalling - whats the series of books?

Runningincircles · 10/12/2023 21:32

My DH is getting a gilet, new headphones, socks and aftershave.

Sugarfree23 · 10/12/2023 21:33

@Bluelightbaby - you've just reminded me that I'd thought about a Bluetooth speaker but it fell of my list.

muckymayhem · 10/12/2023 22:11

Dh's main present this year is a painting. Which I like although I did vaguely run it past him in general terms.

This was more than £100 but not 1000s or anything, it's not a Picasso! You could get a nice print or something of a place / thing that has some meaning?

If he's not interested in art the other thing I've got DH is one if those massage guns. On a complete whim, but he's always going on about his various aches and pains so... no idea how that will go down Xmas Grin

I will probably panic buy some socks and a book on Christmas Eve.

mothermayai · 10/12/2023 22:19

AirTags, he travels for work and these are cool for keeping track of luggage, apparently.

BangingOn · 10/12/2023 22:24

Mine wants an electric polisher gadget for his car, I’ve also bought him some Japanese whiskey, a DNA heritage kit and some bamboo socks.

ShowOfHands · 10/12/2023 22:30

Some blacksmithing tools.
A whistle.
Little figures from a book series he loves.
A candle (scent is a place we used to visit when dating 25yrs ago).
Art print.
A book.

Less than £100 all in.

Gnomegnomegnome · 10/12/2023 22:32

I can't remember what I did I think I bought a pulsio directly, but I did a bit of compare and contrast on Amazon. It's still in the packaging hidden somewhere.

EverySporkIsSacred · 10/12/2023 22:45

It was a Mosfiata 8" carving knife with 7" fork but I can't seem to link to it and it says unavailable on Amazon.

AlanTeeth · 10/12/2023 22:48

The "Somebody Feed Phil" book from the series as he loved it. A new hoodie. A meat thermometer. A leaf blower.

SussexLass87 · 10/12/2023 23:08

My DH is getting...

  • A bacon / steak weight to use when cooking.
  • Framed photos of the kids (he works away a lot)
  • Monthly bacon delivery.
  • Greggs voucher.
  • Nice tshirts from La Redoute.

Is your DH the kind that he'd give you some ideas? Could you get him a voucher that would pay towards part of his hobby?

I got my DH a movie projector last year...about £80 and family movie nights have become a big deal in our house.

Also have autistic kids...getting away is tricky.

Oopsupsideyourheadache · 10/12/2023 23:09

@Bluelightbaby What's the mystery book thing called, sounds interesting!

lovinglaughingliving · 10/12/2023 23:23

EverySporkIsSacred · 10/12/2023 23:35

Also Pigs in Blankets flavour peanuts from Asda as DH is a bacon fiend

Thank you for this thread!

I had no idea what to get my husband and he was no better with ideas.

He’s now having:

Flying lesson
Yeti mug as he drives a lot
Big chocolate bar
Whiskey
I’ll also take the kids out so they can choose him a few bits, most likely favourite beer or a new tshirt.

Thank you!
