We did it yesterday which is early for me. I went up in the loft, got everything down, stuck the two halves of the tree together and dc decorated it. I usually make a big deal of it but it was easy this year and looks lovely!

Not yet. Too early for me and have dc birthday next week, so will do it the day after that.

Nibblynobbly · 03/12/2023 20:15

Not yet, I had planned next weekend but we've just got ourselves a 6 month old kitten so a bit unsure about what to do really Grin

Mrsgreen100 · 03/12/2023 20:19

Yes decorating this weekend, and it’s official I loath fairy lights , takes forever such a pain
next year I’m out
somewhere sunny and fairy lights can have Christmas in the loft
not a grinch just 40 years of it and over it now

avocardigan · 03/12/2023 20:20

Just decorated mine today and put up my Christmas decorations inside and lights outside, it’s Advent Sunday which feels a bit early but DS was badgering me.

EasternStandard · 03/12/2023 20:20

Yes last week. We usually wait a couple more weeks but a five year old was really keen and it’s peak Christmas excitement age

poppy1973 · 03/12/2023 20:23

Yes, put it up this afternoon. Wanted to cheer everyone up and had Amazon for a few more days - so watched Candy Cane Lane film and gingerbread popcorn with the children. Usually put up after 16th December

chipshopElvis · 03/12/2023 20:34

Yes. I used to put it up right before Christmas, but since Covid have wanted to maximise the Xmas sparkle!

Whattodowithit88 · 03/12/2023 20:37

It normally goes up middle of November and comes down after new years but we still done have it up this year yet! So many work trips and a holiday so it’s not going up until next weekend but this is unusual for us.

BCBird · 03/12/2023 20:40

Don't know if I can be bothered 😕

Ratfinkstinkypink · 03/12/2023 20:49

Yes, it went up on 30th which is really early for me. I put it up for my little one who is registered blind and has just figured out how to roll (at the grand old age of 3), his sight problems don't stop him being able to see the lights on the tree and the glow from the lights encourage him to roll to the tree to wreck it.

LindorDoubleChoc · 03/12/2023 20:53

No. It will go up on the 16th or 17th, looking at the calendar.

Beaverbridge · 03/12/2023 20:55

It's in place, decorate it tomo. Too close to jungle time!.

mrsdolittle · 03/12/2023 21:02

Nope. Next weekend. Which is even so quite early for us. Tree sorted (live tree in a pot) so half way there 😊

XelaM · 03/12/2023 21:13

Ours went up last weekend. My teen decorated it completely. I think it looks fab, especially given that our tree is over a decade old and very slim (it has sentimental value though) so it was quite a task to hide all the gaps 😂🎄

StillWantingADog · 03/12/2023 21:14

lol it’s “up” but I am too tired for decorating this eve so that will have to wait! Luckily I have a day off tomorrow.

XelaM · 03/12/2023 21:22

dutysuite · 03/12/2023 18:13

No. But everywhere I look online people are posting photos of their trees and I’m judging how shit some look. 🤣

Aw that's mean. I think all Christmas trees look fab 🎄I love all decorations and the nuttier and messier the better 😂

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 03/12/2023 21:26

Ours went up yesterday - we felt like one of the last houses on the street to get trimmed up! Everyone has definitely done it earlier this year but I don't mind, I love having the house full of lights and trees (we have 3 up!) although it takes ages going to bed as we have to go round switching everything off...

XelaM · 03/12/2023 21:37

I think the trees in this thread posted by @Ratfinkstinkypink @avocardigan @48wheaties and @AthenaWhite are absolutely fabulous!

Totally agree with @WhamBamThankU - I love messy trees that kids decorate 😁

avocardigan · 03/12/2023 21:39

Gotta say I love all the twinkly tree pics appearing on my socials and on this thread. People who put trees up right at the beginning of December or earlier do so because they love Christmas and it makes them happy and I think that is lovely.

LuckyLuckyWoman · 03/12/2023 21:43

Not yet, but have done a deep clean and moved the furniture around to accommodate it today. Hopefully some time this week

Tryingtokeepgoing · 03/12/2023 21:47

As a child ours always went up relatively late as my Mother’s birthday is a week before Christmas, and it never felt fair to start Christmas until after her birthday!! I maintained this into adulthood, although sometimes (like this year) it’ll go up the weekend before Christmas if my parents won’t be round for her birthday. Before my husband died we’d usually go away for new year, so would take it down before we went away so as not to have to deal with it on our return. Now I don’t go away, so will probably take it down shortly after new year :)

Mamette · 03/12/2023 21:54

Yes! Yes I have. For the first time ever I can be one of the early birds. It’s a fake tree so not much hassle, the DSs put the decorations on. I will rearrange them a bit sometime between now and 25th.

When DD was little I was on my own with her, we always had a real tree and I always chose one far too big. The saga of shoving it into the back of my ancient Polo, getting it back out, cutting off branches with a bread knife, ah best of times worst of times.

IsThePopeCatholic · 03/12/2023 21:55

No way! 14 or 15 December at the earliest. Otherwise, I get bored of it.

YorkieTheRabbit · 04/12/2023 09:01

The real tree is being delivered on Thursday so I’ll get that decorated then. The artificial one will go up at the weekend.
I have put the wreath on the front door and a couple of other bit’s around the house.
