What advent calendar does your dc have?

If you do them. Are they chocolate or pre filled with something else, picture ones, or do you make up your own? Also do your dc share at all.

This year I made up their advent calendar with small Xmas themed items. They will take it in turns to open a door a day so will each open 8 doors ( 3 dc ). It's cost me around £20 to make up so thinking next year I should do something cheaper.

I make one for DC to share. Have done all sorts of quizzes and puzzles in the past, but just chocolate in there this year as everyone is so busy.

NCembarassed · 02/12/2023 14:13

Mine don't share.

DC1 has a coffee pod calendar

DC2 has a Yogi tea calendar

I have a mixed pod calendar (coffee and other drinks).

The Cat has a Morrisons one 😉

All very happy.

NB, DC1 is an older teen.

Fabric reusable one. Just bought some chocolate coins for about €2 and he has a chocolate coin each day.

AhBiscuits · 02/12/2023 14:45

They have a refillable one each, which I have loaded with chocolate coins and the like. The elves brought them a Smiggle one each too, which has pens and rubbers and things in.
We've arrived to visit grandma today and she has a 3rd for them 😮It's a refillable one and she's filled it with small wrapped trinkets, so far a wind up toy and a slap band.

Has anyones kids got the Lindt Teddy one with the virtual reality QR code on the back? I did feel like a donut shelling out £12 for it but ....seeing the teddies come to life, we just cannot stop smiling 😁#cutestthingever

Yes but haven’t used the QR thing yet will give it a go

FinghateXmasThisYr · 02/12/2023 14:58

They have Lintz ones this year. There is about 3/4 different versions out, they have a traditional feel. The chocolates are individually wrapped, a selection of different kinds etc. My children are young but absolutely live the design on front & unwrapping them. It is the nicest chocolate calendars I've seen by far this year.

randomstress · 02/12/2023 14:59

I have teens and DH.

DH has one that builds into a Porsche.

Teens have a jam one and a beauty one.

autienotnaughty · 02/12/2023 21:11

MuddledMadge · 02/12/2023 21:54

A Harry Potter Lego one plus an advent candle. We've never had an advent candle before but he loves it - 69p well spent.

FlutteryButterfly · 02/12/2023 22:04

DD- Asos hair and beauty
DS- Haribo advent tree

When they were tiny they had one of the wooden drawer calenders betweentjem- was able to fit about 10ish jelly beans etc in each drawer. They then shared them.out. At the top of the calendar was a box that had golden Choc coins in and they were allowed 2 each every night.

They are young adults now 😁

ichundich · 02/12/2023 22:05

2 homemade ones filled with sweets / chocs, makeup, panto tickets, their favourite soft drink and a couple of small stocking filler stuff. Took ages to wrap and tie onto the calendar, but I do them every year.

48wheaties · 05/12/2023 12:42

Just watched the augmented reality Lindt Teddies sledging! If you've got little ones (or teens for that matter!)then get down to John Lewis or somewhere like that where the Lindt Teddy AR advent calendars are half price at £6. Beware Amazon has them £30 now lol!

Ponderingwindow · 05/12/2023 12:46

I bought one before dd was born because I found it on clearance and just liked the look of it as decoration. I used to just put a chocolate in each compartment for myself.

now I fill it for dd. Each year is different and a challenge to come up with something interesting, cheap, but actually useful.

afaloren · 05/12/2023 13:54

I have Liberty and my mum bought me a Cadbury one. DH has a Lindt one and the dog has a cheese one!

Tdcp · 05/12/2023 13:56

DD usually has toys but she has a Bueno one this year :)

Pipistrellus · 05/12/2023 13:57

A cardboard winter scene one that you add a piece to each day

Workawayxx · 05/12/2023 13:59

Dd is 2 and has a card one with pictures, probably £3 I think, dp bought it. Ds is 11 and has a fabric one that my auntie made filled with quality street, cost maybe £5 for the big box of chocolates.

myrtleberry · 05/12/2023 14:20

A Gravitrax one where you get a new piece each day to add to an existing Gravitrax set. Our Gravitrax is currently set up at one end of our dining table and the layout is adjusted daily to fit the new piece. I guess it's going to stay set up there until at least the 24th.

Also have a cheese calendar we're taking turns with.

FinghateXmasThisYr · 05/12/2023 14:22

IMO Lindt definitely have the best chocolate advent calendars this year. I love how they have the chocolates individually wrapped. They just have abit more of a traditional feel that so many don't! My dcs have one each, the youngest has the one with all of the teddies on the front, I preferred the chocolates in this one over the AR, he is loving the golden wrapped ones. My older dc has the blue version with the large chocolate santa for Christmas eve!
If I have one criticism it is that the calendars tell you what chocolates are in it on the back. Where is the surprise? A leaflet or little card you can take off would be better!
