is there anyone that hasn’t started Christmas shopping yet?

No. I can't bring myself to even think about it. No clue what to get anyone.

BigCroc · 12/11/2023 18:31

Me. I hate Christmas, I wish it would fuck right off. Unfortunately I have a large family who love it. I end up doing all the work. I really wish everyone would just fuck off somewhere else for Christmas and leave me alone.

Thorinfling · 12/11/2023 18:33

Me! And two of my DC have December birthdays before Christmas. Haven't started shopping for those either. 😬

39and · 12/11/2023 18:33

No but me and DH only buy for each other and 3 year old DS. Just need to buy stuff for dinner and that's it. Don't see why that would take weeks of planning.

JenniferJupiterVenusandMars · 12/11/2023 18:34

No intention of doing any Christmas shopping this year, I’m giving a donation to a homeless charity. My family are in total agreement, fed up with buying stuff just for the sake of it.

Highlyflavouredgravy · 12/11/2023 18:35

Nothing.
I have approx 20 peoplexto buy for and I am hosting.

The fear will kick in soon....

No. We have a house move first so I can contemplate Christmas yet.

ButtonDownBev · 12/11/2023 19:21

I have started but only due to necessity. It's not my nature to have started lol
But financially I don't like to put anything on credit (we also don't go crazy in general) so I have to space it out through different paydays; so gifts are done before December arrives, so that December's extra money can go on christmas food.
If I didn't have to worry about the money I would probably start shopping the week of Christmas.

Nw22 · 12/11/2023 19:29

I bought the first one today but it feels too early. It’s not very Christmassy yet

BiddyPop · 12/11/2023 19:30

Me.

I moved overseas this week so haven't even started yet. Roughly 50 to buy for (large extended family and a few good friends).

I need to focus on finding a permanent apartment first - but I can do a day shopping in peace in the markets in this city and a frantic night wrapping when I get home (planning to fly 21st or maybe earlier).

UntamedShrew · 12/11/2023 20:35

Not a thing! But it’s only early November so I think I’ll be ok 😅

SgtJuneAckland · 12/11/2023 20:36

Me. I have DH and DSs birthdays yet!

Openmouthinsertfood · 12/11/2023 20:48

I take it this thread popped up in Active? Lots of bah-humbug! Xmas Grin

MentalLoadOverload · 12/11/2023 20:55

I’ve bought a couple of things but normally would be half done by now. I am not feeling it this year and would ideally like to ditch all presents other than for DC. Have ditched adult presents with IL a few years ago by mutual agreement but can’t see that suggestion going down well with my side of the family. Also buy for a few friends’ kids who are getting harder to buy for as they get older, but seems mean to suggest stopping.

SofiYol · 12/11/2023 20:59

I haven’t yet, one of my children has a birthday in November so I never start before then.

I have my savings ready and numerous lists, but won’t start buying for a few weeks yet. I like to wait and see if anything I want is reduced over Black Friday too.

Sparehair · 12/11/2023 21:06

Caveat- I have chucked some random stuff in the trolley and checked it out to secure my Waitrose slot, and ordered the turkey and a case of champagne on offer, so on food, I am maybe premature ( have also drunk 2 of the bottles of champagne so that money saving trick didn’t work brilliantly)

No presents yet but stockings I do pretty much the same 15 items every year and dc don’t want anything hard to source for main presents. We only do token gifts for adults so I do a book and some sort of toiletry for everyone. Books are the only present I tend to do in person as I like browsing. Everything else is online.

greengreengrass25 · 12/11/2023 21:11

I haven't done much tbh

I will do some this week.

Every year I find it more and more tedious

Raspberrymoon49 · 12/11/2023 21:11

Refuse to get involved in any of it until December

RubyWinehouse · 12/11/2023 21:15

I've bought a few gifts so far, but to be honest we don't buy many, I'll probably get the rest of the few bits in the next week or 2.

HerRoyalHeinzness · 12/11/2023 21:18

I sacked off Christmas years ago, it's stress free now.

theduchessofspork · 12/11/2023 21:18

Of course not, it’s flipping November.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/11/2023 21:26

Me. It's no big deal.

TeaMistress · 12/11/2023 21:40

I've had my Christmas and New Year order delivered from the local butcher and popped it all in the freezer. I've made lists for gifts and know what I'm getting everyone but I am waiting for Black Friday before ordering. I made a list today of all the food bits that need sorting and the jobs in the house that need doing. I'm determined not to get stressed about Christmas this year. I am doing everything online as much as possible because I find actual trips to heaving shopping centres really stressful. I hate having to struggle to find parking and then having to pay huge amounts to park, and then queues and crowded shops are awful...

BotterMon · 12/11/2023 21:42

Never before 1st December (and usually start much later than that).
