Yes, me, it's November ffs

I don't start until mid December and need to be paid first before I start also

Fergie51 · 12/11/2023 17:55

I haven’t done anything yet. Seems a little soon to be honest.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 12/11/2023 17:55

Me. Had a slight blip with work recently so it’ll be reduced Christmas anyway.

spanieleyes · 12/11/2023 17:57

Don't do anything Xmas related until 1December, never before!

Musicaltheatremum · 12/11/2023 17:58

Nope. Husband's birthday is 9th December
So need to get that done first!

supersop60 · 12/11/2023 17:58

Yes, me.
Don't get me wrong - I love Christmas, but it's not even halfway through November. We still have family birthdays to go first.

TheChosenTwo · 12/11/2023 17:59

Me. I don’t do it until the second weekend in December. I buy for so many people and I don’t want to be storing loads of stuff in my house for ages. I have the money so don’t need to spread out the cost of shopping.
I have never not gotten what I wanted/needed so I’m not concerned about the ‘but what if they have run out of x,y,z’ and even if they did, I’d just get something else!
At the end of the month I’ll make a list and start thinking about what I’d like to get. That’s the hardest bit.

rockinginarockingchair · 12/11/2023 18:02

Me ive got nothing not even thought about it.
Oh wait i dont do christmas.

TheChosenTwo · 12/11/2023 18:02

stepintochristmas1 · 12/11/2023 17:26

I don't understand have none of you even bought so much as a snowball or a Christmas pud ? I couldn't imagine having to do all Christmas shopping all at once , I'd rather bang my head on a brick wall . You must all have a nerves of steel .

You can buy snowballs and Christmas puds (both yuck and not something we buy anyway but I understand the sentiment) on Christmas Eve if you hadn’t got them before, what’s the panic?
you don’t need to have nerves of steel to do Christmas shopping when it’s actually Christmas time you know? 😂

muckymayhem · 12/11/2023 18:13

Well - I have bought two pairs of slippers, one for DD and one for Ds's GF. So I suppose I've started but not really. It's a drop in the ocean. And I also have no idea what any of the DC or DH actually want either. Head firmly in sand.

housethatbuiltme · 12/11/2023 18:18

I would literally be a crying ball on the ground if I hadn't started yet... I'm half way through and next month is gonna be rough money wise. I should have started way earlier.

BrokenCheese · 12/11/2023 18:19

Me!

Teens b.day next week. I just can’t contemplate Christmas until we’ve had their birthday. No idea why, I used to be sorted by Sept/Nov but it’s got harder the older DC have got.

museumum · 12/11/2023 18:20

Not bought anything yet for xmas itself yet. Bought advent calandres and ds a new xmas jumper which he’ll get on 1st and wear all of December.

Almondmum · 12/11/2023 18:21

Yep. I usually start around now. plenty of time.

I’ve learned from experience that for me if I start early I get more stressed and over buy. If I start around now I stay nice and chilled and it all gets done in plenty of time. We don’t buy crazy amounts though

Moominmoko · 12/11/2023 18:21

I hadn't started till last week then literally did it all in one day. Me and DH do it all in actual shops, I find it easier to keep track of what we have and what we need. Normally leave it a till later but due DC4 this week so didn't relish the thought of a long shopping trip with a newborn.

Years ago I used to start in September but it just got crazy. I'd end up with so much because I wasn't being organised.

LearnFromMyMistakes · 12/11/2023 18:24

No, l leave mine until Xmas eve, l don't have the space for clutter or food,. and l love shopping on Xmas eve it's a lovely festive atmoshhpere, mostly quiet, and I can always get what l want.
Sometimes l order a few days earlier online for gifts at Etsy, Amazon etc, but l don't stress it.
My children are all grown up now and l'm lucky l don't need to buy an awful lot
Xmas is a very calm and peaceful affair because l make it that way.

cheezncrackers · 12/11/2023 18:24

I've bought about four things, plus a couple of advent calendars. I know I need to get on with it, but I hate fucking Christmas. I dream of one day going away for the whole of Nov, Dec and Jan and not bothering with Christmas at all ...

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 12/11/2023 18:26

I'm usually done by now but haven't even started yet. Just haven't been able to find the time or the energy.

I do have lots of lists though

whirlyhead · 12/11/2023 18:26

Me. We don’t do Christmas shopping for anyone and I’ve never bought presents for nephews/nieces. We all agreed to stop years ago and everyone is happy about this. It’s all media pressure anyway and quite unnecessary.

bigbadbarry · 12/11/2023 18:27

I never start this early

EllaPaella · 12/11/2023 18:28

I've only bought for my children and husband. Still need to buy for my parents, sister and her family and my sister in law but am waiting for when my Mum comes up to stay early December so we can go together.

CandyLeBonBon · 12/11/2023 18:28

Waiting til payday!

RabbitsRock · 12/11/2023 18:28

I’ve only got a couple of little pressies. Just worked out today is 6 weeks til Christmas Eve!

Curlewwoohoo · 12/11/2023 18:28

Surely most people?!

IDontHateRainbows · 12/11/2023 18:29

Started last weekend but there's not loads to buy, money is tight this year so adults will be token presents and the kids will get a budget but in previous years we've wasted £££ on crap to open on Xmas day which then never sees the light of day again, no more!
