My quest to find the mint chocolate orange has failed today, maybe there’s a shortage here. I am visiting dd at uni tomorrow so will try a few places near her.

Also on the hunt for some nice advent calendars, something a bit nicer than your average chocolate advent calendar, maybe posh chocolates/truffles or similar? 🤔, I might have to check the big farm shop on the way home tomorrow as I quite fancy the ‘Monty Bojangles’ one built haven’t seen it for sale anywhere.

Lots of Mint Choc oranges at Co-Op if that helps

TheGirlWhoLived · 10/11/2023 16:45

Apothecary set at marks and Spencer is down to £25 from £50. Bought a similar one last year and it was great! Bought one for SIL and MIL this year (different sides of the family so no crossover!)

Lots in Sainsburys this morning too.

TheGirlWhoLived · 10/11/2023 16:48

Also some great bargains at house of Fraser… Jack Wills dresses, tops, slippers, hoodies etc. Got a hoody each for my girls for a tenner reduced from £55, tops reduced to £3, slippers for £7 etc.
Also some lovely Elle short pajamas for £6 and Firetrap top and shorts set for £7.50!

I just searched Jack Wills, then refined the filters by my dd’s sizes, then price low to high

A couple of years ago on these threads, we all made our own indoor marshmallow kits. We bought chafing fuel from Amazon and retractable bbq prongs and then wrapped it all up nicely with some chocolate and biscuits. I bought gift baskets from the works.

VelvetThunder · 10/11/2023 16:50

Poundland have the mint chocolate oranges too.

If anyone is after an extra stocking filler ...it was a whiskey soap in a tin and smells amazing !!

Mines just arrived too. The bigger item (half price jumper for BIL) wasn't eligible for next day delivery weirdly

Tina221 · 10/11/2023 17:12

I’ve seen the mint chocolate oranges in Tesco, I hope you are able to get one x

ThreeRingCircus · 10/11/2023 17:25

My sister is obsessed with the Terry's mint oranges but I think she must be secretly buying them all up because they're permanently out of stock in all my local supermarkets 🤣

Well now I’m absolutely ragin!!! DH messaged friend to check about lock picking set (didn’t want to buy it in case parents disapproved) and turns out his son already has one 😫Apparently he got one for his birthday a couple of months ago and it went down a treat. Glad it was a good idea, but gutted I can’t use it and so now we’re back to square one.

How old is he? I'll have a look

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 10/11/2023 17:32

@TheGirlWhoLived Thank you for the m&s link. More than we would normally spend but purchased for a friend who has had a tough year

PopcornAndGummyBears · 10/11/2023 17:33

He’s 15 @redjoker

Really into taking things apart and figuring out how they work. Budget £30-£35 max. Would prefer something to tinker with than loads of instructions to follow.

Lots of the kits are quite young - more toys for kids than actual tinkering for teens.

@EekGoesTheBaby suggested a lock picking kit and I was proper excited - it seemed perfect until we found out he already has one!

doggybootcamp · 10/11/2023 17:35

First post this year but having a panic about how little I've done!
Can anyone recommend a smart watch suitable for an 11 year old? All she can tell me is it needs to be 'tappy' maybe play a game and tell the time 😂

A couple of years ago, I bought some fab STEM kits from a subscription company. They were previous kits and you didn’t need to subscribe to buy them. I am trying to find the link for you…
plus I’d forgotten about them and they’d be perfect for a couple of nephews that I need to buy for.

Hickry · 10/11/2023 17:39

I've just been browsing the children in need website for DS2's C.I.N school day apparel and came across these very cute Pudsey Doctor Who bears. We're big Doctor Who fans here so they've been ordered as Xmas gifts. Reduced from £25 to £15.

The postage was a bit steep on the cin site but I did order a few bits (badges, ears, water bottle etc) and the bears, so I tried not to begrudge the postage.

Hi @Ilovepugs2017 - that’s definitely a genuine Oodie - looks lovely. Was it from the Amazon company discussed earlier?

Thanks

Hickry · 10/11/2023 17:41

Ooh and I found these gorgeous Xmas print PJ's in Primark this week. I wasn't going to bother getting matchy PJ's this year but I couldn't resist. The fabric is lovely and soft, and the print is so pretty!

£8.50 for kids and £13 for adults I thought was very reasonable.

@Ilovepugs2017 - weird question - but are the pockets on your Oodie open all down the side, or have they been sewn partway up?

Looking on the Amazon site, the identical item seems to have had the pockets partly sewn up, (which seems weird!)

Yes I think the seller is TrueFace. I’m gonna order the pizza design one for my oldest DS. Think the panda one was just over £17 so a bargain!

Ilovepugs2017 · 10/11/2023 15:24

Also just received the oodie I ordered from Amazon. Looks like it’s a genuine one but the brand has been cut out?! Just arrived in a plastic packaging bag though and does smell a bit chemically. Bargain price though - super thick and heavy and soft!

Can you post the link to this please. I'm looking to get one for my dd. Thanks

Ooh good question! I’m just out at the moment but when I’ll get back I’ll check and upload a photo of what the pocket is like 😊
