What's your 13/14yo's "main" present this year?

I'm looking for a flash of inspiration better than a taller bookshelf for her ever-expanding, double stacked, collection of books.

She's asked for piercings for her birthday on 28th December but doesn't look after jewellery very well so that's not really a consideration (currently mourned loss are a pair of ghosts that are at least an inch tall and 3/4 inch wide, so not exactly small!).

Almost 17yo dd1 has picked a vinyl player & limited edition Taylor Swift vinyl - she's wanted these for a while but I've waited until I knew she'd take care of it.

Anyway, all that to ask what your dc of a similar age will receive this year? Maybe it'll give me a lightbulb moment!

Two boys aged 18 and 15..... usual practical stuff like new PJs/smellies/ socks LoL......apart from that I'm stumped. Might just give them some money

cocksstrideintheevening · 02/11/2023 12:23

13 yo Dts have a very long list of very expensive skincare.

psuedocream3 · 02/11/2023 12:25

Mine don't know what they want.

DD14 Wants a STEAM gift card, that's it. So besides that, a bubble tea kit, a hoodie, money and a stocking.

Not very exciting but it seems a bit pointless buying mine things they haven't asked for. Every year we hace a pile of things unopened/unused by the next Christmas.

Nonplusultra · 02/11/2023 12:26

My 13 year old has no big ticket item this year and wants a few smaller surprises. I’m going to take her out for lunch and a browse round the shops to get a better sense of what sort of things she’s excited by.

DS 15 thankfully still has his eye firmly on the legostore

AreTheyOrArentThey · 02/11/2023 12:30

We got tickets to see Spirited Away onstage which were extortionate so that’s the main present for our 15&11yo (will make a full Japanese day in London of it) so aside from that just stockings

housethatbuiltme · 02/11/2023 12:49

A BBQ... an odd gift but what he really wants after learning camp fire cooking at Forrest school.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 02/11/2023 12:51

DS is 14 - 15th birthday at the end of this month.

He's already had the new Fifa game (or whatever it's now called!) for PC and his annual pass for a local theme park renewed so that's quite a chunk of his birthday presents.

He's also getting...
Cricket bat
Nike tech fleece joggers
Specific football shirt
LED light bars
Rucksack
Books

For Christmas, he would like
New gaming PC monitor (he's getting cash contributions from people)
Cricket bag
Mystery football shirt
Aftershave
LED strip lights

DS,14 is having Liam Gallagher tickets and a new snare drum (he’s a drummer and drumming is all he does!) plus little bits and pieces, mainly Dave Grohl drumsticks, Smellies etc.

DS, 17 is massively into collecting Marvel Figurines so Marvel Legends, a big Marvel Figurine and possibly a new display case to display the new figurine in. Oh, and comics.

Both boys have a clear theme!!

hby9628 · 02/11/2023 13:05

My nearly 13yo has asked for
SJP perfume
Langeine lip mask

Not much else however I've got her a white fox hoodie, a new riding jacket because she lost hers
She recently got herself a gym shark jumper which is lovely & was a decent price so that's a brand I'll keep an eye on
Other than that at the moment it will be makeup/skincare stuff. I might get her a 3 in 1 Lego set. Other than that maybe just some money

SpringingJoy · 02/11/2023 13:09

Boys aged 13 and 15. Wants/needs are new phones (both handsets 3.5 years old now and looking tatty), new gaming chairs (same reason, tatty now!) and gaming monitors.

They won't be getting them all btw! But currently still undecided which to get and which to leave for birthdays/to save for themselves as they're all kind of 'main gift' level (although phones would eclipse the other two in terms of price).

Ah I love that!

When ds2 was 9 his main gift one year was a nutribullet, he desperately wanted one. And I must say its probably the best used gift he's ever had lol.

MyBedIsMySpiritualHome · 02/11/2023 13:13

Velvetiser

Shewhobecamethesun · 02/11/2023 13:14

14 almost 15yr old just wants robux. Would also love a gaming pc so I'm planning on us building one together over the next year. That will be his gift

NotEvenSlightlyReasonable · 02/11/2023 13:25

DD13 is another with a long list of expensive skin care! Also gym membership, books, spending money for a big holiday trip, books, gymshark gear, books and maybe some books...

ItStillLooksLikeRainDear · 02/11/2023 13:32

I’m making my DD a hair care hamper. So far I have:
hairdryer (primark)
hair curler (primark)
straighteners (free with boots points)
nice shampoo & conditioner
dry shampoo
heat protection spray
brush
bobbles
hair grips…

stclair · 02/11/2023 14:39

14 yo dd wants a Vivienne Westwood handbag from Vinted. And a list of Charlotte Tilbury.

Bloocy · 02/11/2023 15:17

For DD - Homemade treasure chest full of art supplies - going for higher end brands that she wouldn’t afford herself. has cost £110 ish and will probably add some more to match the cost of DS’s main.

similar for DS but all guitar related things - strings, a phaser pedal, plectrums, gig bag, capo, mini amp and some other bits and pieces. Has cost £150 ish

Can I ask what art supplies you went with? I'd like to do similar for DD but I don't really have a clue where to start.

@UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername This is my list

My dd is a but older but has SEN so more like 13. My dd likes jewellery but doesn’t look after it so I buy her some from Shein for in her stocking. She’s also getting…

A oodie
miniature dolls house/cat cafe set

a Lego set (not sure which one yet)
Diary of a wimpy kids books
sketch book

WASZPy · 02/11/2023 18:27

13yo DS has requested a PS5 & Spiderman. Hopefully the current PS5 console will be on a deal when the 'slim' drops.

He also wants access to Sky Sports so I think he'll be getting a NOW tv sports subscription.

stormpitchchrome · 02/11/2023 18:28

DD is getting a new phone and a few other bits and DS is getting some AirPods for the gym.

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 02/11/2023 18:30

DS has asked for:
ea sports game for the switch and a memory card
headphones
new school bag

from other people, he’s getting tickets to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, trainers, some t-shirts, a canvas for his bedroom wall, football match tickets

last year he got tickets for Hamilton, a DAB clock radio, ear pods and sunglasses

hope they’ve given you some inspiration!

MissyB1 · 02/11/2023 18:30

Ds will turn 15 at Xmas, he’s getting AirPods and a tour of Old Trafford (big Man U fan!)
