Starting this in Reastie’s absence. Hope that’s ok.

Hi any recommendations on kids hot water bottles ideally something Christmas and not crazy expensive.

We have Father Christmas come to visit but I have to buy the gifts. If anyone hasn't done it before it's really good for £60 we get half an hour with Father Christmas in our house, he has a personalised letter all about the kids tells a story and plays a game. It's bloomin brilliant and such good value worth looking into! We have my 2 dc plus my 2 dn.

I had to Google this! (Googled Father Christmas home visit) and there's one in my area. £50 in November and £110 in December (£160 Xmas Eve - hes onto a money spinner there) Who knew!!? my DD would have screamed the house down Can see it would work out good value if there's a few kids.

Anyway, hot water bottles - we got a lovely fluffy cloud one last week from the Sainsburys Christmas gift range. Silky on the back. They also had a christmassy one. I think it was a Christmas tree.

Crimsonbow · 29/10/2023 07:36

@AchillesInHeels the Works do the smaller, travel Orchard Toys games too.

Someone maybe on the previous thread or earlier in this one was asking about Jelly Cat. My local garden centre does them and if you're a member (£10 for the year and I am a member for gardening stuff anyway) then you get 10% off everything in store including the Jelly Cats.

Does anybody have any tips on the cheapest way to buy, or where to look out for offers on books for a 3yr old... I'm thinking classics like..

Gruffalo, Room on Broom, Stick Man, Tiger who came to tea, etc....

They're all about £4 on Amazon but not sure if there's a deal to be had if I'm buying quite a few

Thank you to anyone who answers x 🎅

I got all these books very recently on Vinted. New with or without tags. For about £1 - £1.50 each. Ideally you need to find someone who has more than one book you need though as postage is circa £2.20 - £2.99. So would defeat the saving if buying separate and paying each time.

If anyone has an argos code they aren’t going to use I’d really appreciate it please! Buying a Nintendo switch and games and they’re pricey 😮

Have you tried Game Collection - they're brilliant, always reasonable and send quickly. I got Mario Strikers for £28 (RRP £39.99) and Mario Wonder for £40

PolliFlinders · 29/10/2023 07:56

@Robotik I have AXT7LGTE4SRA IT may be account specific though.

Tigger83 · 29/10/2023 07:58

@RainbowZebraWarrior worth having a look at party companies on Facebook (the ones who do kids dress up parties) ours is coming the 22nd and they have said it will be the same Santa as we had last year.

Givealittlebit · 29/10/2023 07:59

@Robotik I have a £7 off £75 spend valid until 31st if you can private message me? I can't do it for some reason but can reply!

Also reiterating a PP post about checking charity shops for Julia Donaldson books but wanted to say that they always have a selection of Orchard Games too. I like getting board games, jigsaws and books from there as either gifts or just games for the house.

I bought a big Christmas jigsaw for me for a £1!

Hibernatalie · 29/10/2023 08:05

Hungry Hippos is down to £9 on Amazon

Please let me know if anyone notices any other board games on offer - looking for something for a family with teenage children. Thanks!

Got some super bargains at The Entertainer online! I took advantage of the Squishmallows offer and got 1 at £13, which halved the price of the £50 one. I then got a few items from the sale, plus the extra 10% off, went through TopCashback and then found a hidden £53 in my Quidco account so withdrew that too. All in, instead of £120, I paid just under £20! Worth staying up until this hour for.

Nice one!!

Hibernatalie · 29/10/2023 08:15

@Memo88
Books 4 people do a Julia Donaldson set -
Also worth checking The Works for their 10 for £10 offer

Im having the same with disney store and ordered on the same date as you. Just says processing order still

I have just done live chat with them and they say "minor delays" in the warehouse.

AchillesInHeels · 29/10/2023 08:41

@Hibernatalie in a much earlier thread people were talking about Nice Buns, £3.99 from Home Bargains - not sure if they'd all be gone now but I bought two copies for families with older children and they look fab, really good quality and the box is a normal-sized board game not a travel one which I would have expected for £3.99.

Also thanks all for the Orchard Toys recommendations!

Hibernatalie · 29/10/2023 08:49

@AchillesInHeels thank you!

Hibernatalie · 29/10/2023 08:50

Does anyone know if Decathalon do Black Friday deals? Looking at getting my 2 bikes this year

MerylSqueak · 29/10/2023 08:51

EARLY50 gives 50% off photobooks at Popsa until 31st October.

MrsChristiesChristmasCake · 29/10/2023 09:07

I gave my White Stuff code (25% off full price items until the 31st) to someone but it appears to still be working so anyone else is free to try it too!

Igglepiggleandhisboat · 29/10/2023 09:35

I’ve seen an advert on Facebook that you can get a £5 Claire’s voucher for signing up to their club. Not sure if t&cs as mine hasn’t come yet x

Starlightdarkness · 29/10/2023 09:39

My Asda rewards app is offering an bonus 40% on your rewards voucher to exchange for toys/homeware in store. Is quite far down on the app. Don't know if it's universal but worth a look.

Christmasmcchristmasface · 29/10/2023 09:46

Switch games

try Currys I keep finding them to be the cheapest particularly on new release they always have a code and they will state the code in the game description- I think I got Sonic Wonder for £34 delivered
also last year Asda had some new titles discounted for Black Friday and you could combine with Blue light

Teen Board games
Dumb ways to die
exploding kittens and expansions
catan
ticket go ride

or Home bargains I got 3-4 for mine as they were only £3-4 including Obama Llama as recommended on here and I think MTV trivial pursuits Radio Times Charades

bikes
check Halfords and they do usually have some Black Friday deals that can be combined with other codes eg blue light and my union NIPSA card gave me 10-15%

WimbyAce · 29/10/2023 09:49

White Stuff 25% off code TU95BVIW2
