Advent Calendars

Sorry to start this thread in August (in fairness it is nearly September) but I can't see one yet! I enjoyed the one last year.

Has anyone started thinking about which product advent calendar they want? I'm thinking of getting my husband the Elemis one. We get each other one every year as a surprise ☺️

I’ve got a TreatBox advent coming for me (that I’m actually saving as my surprise stocking).

I’ll buy a box of Hotel Chocolat for DH.

DC usually have a chocolate Lindt advent calendar, which they love.

Mindovermatter247 · 29/08/2023 22:41

I usually get the haribo one..
DP will get haribo and hotel chocolat one because he can never decide
dc get a Lindor one and DS a lynx and dd will probs be a mini brands one.

moomoosaka · 29/08/2023 22:42

I love this type 😊

I’m getting the Wera calendar for DH, he’s a bit of a diy nut.

for dc ones getting a makeup one probably the look fantastic one and the other dc I’m getting her a cult pen one, she uses everything in it.

m the younger ones a book one to share and probably a toy one. Not sure which yet.

I'm about to hit pay on the Lakrids calendar. Problem being, I will no doubt devour the contents well before Christmas Eve.

AnnieSnap · 29/08/2023 23:01

I like the beauty ones. I wish I could buy my DH a chocolate one, but he’s diabetic. Last year, I got him a beard oil one, the year before coffee. I wish there was a good, but different one for him this year. There is no point in me going for male skin care, as he wouldn’t use it 🤷‍♀️

FredaFox · 29/08/2023 23:05

There's a good beauty advent calendar thread going if anybody is interested
Note it does include spoilers if what's in them as us addicts like to get the one with products that suit us!

I've bought my mum that one in the past, really good

@LocalHobo
which one? So many to choose from!

I've no idea. I don't like skin care/make up/nails type stuff or candles

I don't do food/drink as I have too many dietary restrictions.

i haven't thought much of any stationery/tea bags....

I like surprises & I'm really not hard to please 😂😂

For the last two years DH has bought me the Laithwaites wine one as part of my Christmas present
It’s amazing. Usually in a lovely Christmasy design box. Brilliant for trying new wine. It’s one decent glass full so perfect to have after a long cold day and if I’m not drinking in the week I save them up for the weekend.
I also keep a few as stocking fillers for my mum and friends.
Theres half a bottle of fizz for Christmas morning too.

@AnnieSnap

oooh which coffee one & what did he think of it? I could get myself that...

would he like one of the tool ones? Or wine?

Gazelda · 29/08/2023 23:17

DD had a Naked Marshmallow one last year. It was amazing!

mondaytosunday · 29/08/2023 23:23

The best one I gave my daughter was a Bonne Maman one with small jars of jams and marmalade. We did taste testings at breakfast!

SkankingWombat · 29/08/2023 23:24

DH & I don't have them. I usually get DCs a chocolate one each to match their personal tastes, but saw Lego calendars reduced by a pretty good margin in mid December last year so bought & stashed them for this Xmas. They won't notice or care they are last year's sets, as it is a massive upgrade for them (which will come with a warning not to expect it every year!). DD1 has the HP set, and DD2 has the Guardians of the Galaxy set (the Groot figure alone will make her very, very happy).

Piemam · 29/08/2023 23:41

@AnnieSnap there was a pork scratchings one last year from Snaffling Pig Co. That was good! Also, @mondaytosunday that was my other option, love their conserves.

Thanks for the suggestions @Piemam I appreciate any. Pork Scratchings don’t work, as we’re both vegetarian and conserves have too much sugar for his diabetes. I remember now, I also once got him a tea one.

It was Coffee beans. I found it on Etsy. I can’t remember the name, but it was good 🙂
He is a tough bloke to buy for. No alcohol because he’s an alcoholic (4 years sober), nothing with sugar due to his diabetes and we’re both vegetarian, so nothing with meat. As for tools, he’s a good DIYer, but has everything already!

TheBeesKnee · 30/08/2023 00:07

@AnnieSnap could you get a full your own advent calendar and put sugar free diabetic chocolate inside? Maybe some other bits mixed in as well?

Moonshine86 · 30/08/2023 00:11

I have signed up today to receive a notification when the Sephora calendar is released, I loved it last year.

Check the yea one for sugar we got one years ago and the tea had heaps of sugar in them, fruit type tea ones that is yours may not of course
