IamChipmunk · 02/08/2023 21:53

Whats with some of the Amazon recommendations coming up as being linked to Mumsnet?
Are they not just regular everyday posters just spotting a bargain and posting about it? Is it actually targeted advertising?

Not noticed it before?

This is what I mean...

I've also noticed this recently 🙄

SgtCatherineCawood · 02/08/2023 22:02

When it was Prime day I am sure they posted on there they'd be adding affiliate links to recommendations, can they edit existing links on this thread?!

SgtCatherineCawood · 02/08/2023 22:03

Although that message doesn't appear on mine when I click it

They will be picking up and tracking that the links were posted on MN so they get a cut.

NortieTortie · 02/08/2023 22:16

A lot of forums have a bot or something to automatically amend user comments with Amazon links to add their affiliate tag.

MmmALovelyBitOfSquirrel · 02/08/2023 22:20

Had a quick Google and thought this was a good price? The only cheaper one was £35ish on eBay but I trust Amazon more. There were 2 left in stock just now. Reviews seemed good, bought it for my niece so I hope it's good! 🌲

Thank you to whoever posted the Hot Diamonds codes. I've bought from them the last few years and their gift packaging is lovely. I bought a necklace from outlet area...originally £60 reduced to £30 then the code took it down to £18 delivered.

villamariavintrapp · 02/08/2023 23:56

Ticket to ride £19.99 and Catan-family edition £14.99 on Tkmaxx. Think those are good prices?

Flubadubba · 03/08/2023 02:28

@MmmALovelyBitOfSquirrel it's fab! It's relatively belt close to the lowest I have seen ot- it was £30 a month or so ago.

Ticket to ride is brilliant!! We have the European edition and my kids can play (mostly independently) ages 6.5 and 8.5

Thank you. I have ordered ticket to a ride- not sure if it's for my sister or my partner currently but someone!

ChristmasCwtch · 03/08/2023 11:23

Will take photos of any Amazon products instead of adding the link!! I don’t like them taking a cut. There’s enough advertising on here already

ColeslawSandwich · 03/08/2023 12:23

I missed the Ticket To Ride’s bargain

Christmasmcchristmasface · 03/08/2023 15:07

The Amazon thing has been happening for several years on here it was discussed on one of the Christmas threads I think pre covid (my standard time marker now 🫣)

within seconds of you popping up a link if you check it it’s become affiliate and mumsnet get a cut

if I remember rightly it’s not just Amazon I there were quite a few

Irritatedmum · 03/08/2023 15:37

My local Cancer Research shop ahead brand new Cath Kidston stuff in - and so has the one in the next town so I think it might be national. Set of bowls for £6, placemats for £3, kids pyjamas for £5. (Although the town next door the prices were double, cos it’s a posher town)

Turtleoo · 03/08/2023 16:46

Yes I think Amazon are just being more transparent about affiliate links now. It's annoying but I do prefer it when people post links so I can go straight to the item rather than having to try and find the right one via search

I have a brand new (still in plastic!) Europe one you can have for a tenner plus postage if you want? Nobody was interested in it at Christmas!

Looking for ideas for things for a stocking for a 9 month old

ColeslawSandwich · 03/08/2023 19:59

That would be great thanks @NoWordForFluffy I’ll pm you now.

My DD was 10m last year and she enjoyed- a hand puppet, a slinky, some cutlery, an orange, farm animals, stacking cups, book, toy car, paint brush, bath toys, a choc Santa and choc coins!

Just seen Wilko are on the brink of collapse so probably better not to do any online orders with them
