@Room4onemore mine was 11 months last year and loved a duplo polybag elephant (to coordinate with big brother's lego polybag). They both loved flannel bath mits in different coloured bunny shapes too - I'm always excited about things still used a year on!

Am I missing the hype about the ticket to ride games ?

I see them mentioned lots of times ..
Is it really that good of a game ?

Do I have to concentrate all the way through!!

We are all adults (ish !)
I try to get a new game each year ...
don't want a game that lasts more than 20 mins !
I have the concentration ability of a gnat !!

bizzey · 03/08/2023 23:59

Sorry gnats !
I am sure you are more intelligent than me !

Ticket to ride isn’t the game for you! Try Game of Cat and Mouth, or Exploding kittens.

@Room4onemore can't go wrong with Duplo for a nine month old. Have looked back at Christmas photos at and that age mine also enjoyed stacking cups and anything bashable. Have you also tried the crazy soap and some little plastic toys to hide in it? Mine also get a nice personalised decoration for their first Christmas, a few years ago we all got Christmas gingerbread men ones from Etsy.

InDreamland · 04/08/2023 11:15

I've popped my referral link on the other thread if you're a new customer, to get £10 off.

Loved duplo and stickle bricks as great to travel with as they also can double as bath toys.

Looking for ideas for things for a stocking for a 9 month old

Feels like time to reiterate my favourite baby toy! Oball !

depending on stocking size, babies also like Pop up people (don’t pay more than £8 for these, they are sometimes £6 or less)

and what home is complete without a scattering of Tomy chaos eggs

A teething toy might be nice also x

Looking for ideas for things for a stocking for a 9 month old

My son was 9 months at Christmas last year. I got him a few bits (stacking cups, bath toys, and a set of sensory balls) but at that ages most toys are a variation on the same few things. I’d suggest books with felt flaps- my son started to really engage with them from about 12 months. (This one is half price and my son loves this series: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Whos-Hiding-Safari-Campbell-Scheffler/dp/1035004445/ref=mp_s_a_1_17?crid=C1IUJC9QOPRA&keywords=felt+flap+books&qid=1691160905&sprefix=felt+flap+%2Caps%2C126&sr=8-17).
The other thing he absolutely loved at that age is this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/toys-Wooden-Activity-Toddler-Center/dp/B00CI3EAL2/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?adgrpid=115072152942&hvadid=606408727199&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=9045680&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=1830816129900813158&hvtargid=kwd-319793987914&hydadcr=12246_2383108&keywords=zany+zoo+activity+cube&qid=1691161355&sr=8-1 It really encouraged him to stand and he would play with it independently for ages. It was definitely the best toy we bought for him under 1.

For his stocking instead of buying loads of stuff for a 9 month old I used it as an opportunity to get him things that he can use every year (a nice Christmas Eve Box, nice stocking, reusable advent calendar and a set of ‘little Dutch’ wooden figures to go in it, a plate for Santa’s mince pie).

I also got him some toys that I knew he’d like in the next year or 2 (I got the Little Dutch train set and the block houses to go with it). He’s just started playing with it and I’m really pleased I got something ‘older’ because the baby toys only lasted a couple more months. If you wait for a ‘Kidly’ sale they often have 20% off toys sometime during the autumn.

ChristmasCwtch · 04/08/2023 19:22

@Famousthehero that’s such a great price!! My DC love Aerobie. The only frisbee that works perfectly every time

bizzey · 04/08/2023 19:56

Thanks @Realfastfoodie ..I will check them out .

jocktamsonsbairn · 04/08/2023 20:14

Checking in but gutted that it's not going to be the same this year!! DS will be in Australia travelling. (So I will need help sorting his stocking in Sept for him to take!!) and dd has blown her entire Xmas budget in a Taylor Swift ticket!

Restlessinthenorth · 04/08/2023 20:26

Real life find but might be worth others checking their Boots clearance section too. Today in Leeds I picked up an electric make up sponge cleaning device. Originally £40, down to £20 on the website, but was only £8 in store. Gets fabulous reviews on the website. Original price seems genuine as had the electrician tag round it etc. nice little extra to bulk out my teenagers pile

nopuppiesallowed · 04/08/2023 21:17

Are Hot Diamonds really nice?

PumpkinSpicedTea · 04/08/2023 21:59

@Snippysocks I've got a nice birthstone bracelet for my sister's birthday using codes. The packaging is amazing and the bracelet itself is stunning

However I wouldn't mind seeing what others have been buying when it comes to earrings and necklaces.

Suunnyd · 05/08/2023 00:12

Can someone tag me in the duplo link please?

Has anyone seen any deals on the magnetic tiles?

ScarlettDarling · 05/08/2023 07:12

@PumpkinSpicedTea @Snippysocks I got my daughter a gorgeous necklace from the jac jossa range last Christmas… it’s a gold chain, choker length with little circular discs hanging from it. Not the best description but it’s lovely in real life😂. My dd is very particular about what she wears, very stylish and she absolutely loves this necklace and has worn it almost every day. It was a total bargain with the codes last year so I’ll be having a scan for another bargain this Christmas!
