Anyone else want to keep their Christmas tree up?

I really don't want to take my tree down this year. We have two up and they both look so lovely and feel like they haven't been up long enough (even though we put them up on 1st December!)

Lots of our neighbours have taken their trees and lights down now but I'm holding out for one more day and will do it tomorrow... 🥺

That sounds lovely 😍

I love tulips and daffodils. Got 12 vases of them all over.

WhereIsMyRollingPin · 31/12/2022 14:42

Our tree was up 20th to 27th. That was plenty long enough, I love having the space and tidiness again. Like others, lots of bulbs growing on the windowsills and a vase of tulips on the dresser.

We still have some fairy lights though, they will probably stay until Easter.

60smusic · 31/12/2022 14:43

We take ours down on the 12th night. Even then feels too soon. We only put it up 1st week in December so we're definitely not tired of it yet. I have 11 months to look at a bare room. Love my tree 🎄🎄🎄❤️❤️❤️

OverTheRubicon · 31/12/2022 15:12

People here take it down so quickly - makes sense as a preference, but isn't it tradition to keep it up until the full 12 days of Christmas are over, and take it down on 12th night?

ChocolateCandle · 31/12/2022 15:17

It's the 6th on Friday so I'll probably take ours down next weekend. I love my trees and lights - so calming and pretty. I'll probably take bits and bobs down before then (cards are already gone).

You can keep your trees up as long as you like!

SnowyPetals · 31/12/2022 15:18

Mine usually comes down on New Year's day because I don't like going back to school with the Christmas stuff still up - feels a bit "last term". I am usually ready for it to come down then, but also a bit sad to lose the twinkly lights.

StrawberryWater · 31/12/2022 15:39

Ours will come down on Tuesday.

I used to keep them up until 12th night but I don’t like doing that now.

doris9034 · 31/12/2022 15:58

Mine will likely come down tmrw as I prefer not to have Christmas stuff still up for my birthday (4th Jan). Will miss my fairy lights though - so may keep them for a while!!

Bluegingerbread · 31/12/2022 16:13

Mine are staying up til Twelth Night. They go up Advent Sunday and stay til 12th night and the kid still complain each year that they want them up longer.

MaryDerry · 31/12/2022 16:37

Ours came down today. Only cos' this one is shedding needles everywhere and I don't fancy dragging it out on my own and DP goes away tomorrow (so he can help drag it out and vacuum up).

Bit sad but I love having a bigger looking lounge. Miss the fairy lights though.

Cruiseyoulose · 31/12/2022 16:41

We usually take ours down on the 6th- women’s Christmas!
last year we took it down last weekend in January, I hate the end of Christmas! We only took it down because my 9 year old thought I was ridiculous keeping it up 😂

ExactlyasIsaid · 31/12/2022 16:43

I like seeing the new year in with it all still up, I usually take them all down on the 2nd but I'm back at work on Monday and won't have the time as it all goes into the shed and it will be dark.
I have a day off on weds so I'm debating whether to take it all down on weds or go out as planned and leave it until next weekend.
I hate taking it all down it really makes me feel low

PinkHeadphones · 31/12/2022 16:45

Mine is staying up until twelfth night. It didn’t go up until 16 Dec so otherwise we’d hardly have it. And it is beautiful and makes me happy.

LindorDoubleChoc · 31/12/2022 16:47

I always take mine down on 12th night and just can't understand why other people don't!

BodyShapeWoes · 31/12/2022 16:54

Coming down tomorrow or Monday

We put ours up late (for us) this year but it does need to come down now.

will be keeping my fairy lights up tho

SirVixofVixHall · 31/12/2022 16:55

WeDontNeedToTalkAboutJamie · 31/12/2022 13:18

Mine will be up until 12th night.

Mine too. I never take anything down until then. I do put my tree up close to Christmas, so it is still fresh and green for a while afterwards.

RudolphTheGreat · 31/12/2022 16:56

We've taken the tree and all the all the decs down apart from the twinkly lights around our bookcases. We've decided to leave them up until spring as they make the room a bit less depressing on these dark winter days.

kimchifix · 31/12/2022 16:58

Yes, but it's dropping. It's going to have to go - probably on 2nd as having some building work done on 3rd and it's in the way.

Sparklingbrook · 31/12/2022 16:58

Ours are still up, I've usually taken them down by now. I'm going to do it tomorrow though, New Year, everything clean and tidy. Love hoovering where it was and packing it all up, putting away the extension leads and moving the furniture back the right way.

Usernumber463626363 · 31/12/2022 17:00

Me too. Would love to keep it until twelfth night but realistically I need it down before dc go back to school - they both have sen and that tree needs to come down as a visual that it's back to school time 😅

it'll be down tomorrow night or Monday, feel sad about it.

many of my neighbours have theres down already.

I love my own decs and love seeing other peoples in their windows. Sadly I don't have the type of window to put a Christmas tree by it!

its going to feel so bleak once they are down 😭

lurchermummy · 31/12/2022 17:02

Yes me it seems sad to end it all and go back to normal life. However my waistline and liver will thank me for it.

Spudina · 31/12/2022 17:06

I really struggle taking mine down. I think it comes from when I was 16, my Dad was taking our tree down on the 3rd January. He announced that my DM (who had been treated for cancer for 18 months) was coming home to die. I genuinely had no idea that she would die. (Naive I know) So now every year, my tree has to be down by the 3rd and I dread the day coming. I was looking at string lights on line to help me transition. I hate it.....

Proudofitbabe · 31/12/2022 17:06

Not my tree as I do love saying bye to the clutter of the indoor decs - but I'd love to keep my outside lights! We have some across the double garage, and draped over a tree. Love coming home to see my part of the street twinkling away in the dark!!

CrapBucket · 31/12/2022 17:07

I don't usually take mine down early but need my teens to be in study mode rather than holiday mode, so I might end up doing it soon Sad

Emmamoo89 · 31/12/2022 17:07

Keeping mine up till the 12th night
