Not turned up for dinner

I recently came to a womans shelter then got moved into temp. The workers asked me if I want to go to a christmas dinner tonight I agreed and they said that theyd collect me. Theyre uncontactable, no ones phoned/texted and its now Its now 10 to 9. Ive got no other plans. Is it fair to assume ive been forgotten about? ☹

Christmas dinner is overrated sometimes. I’ve overeaten and currently have a sore tummy and wished I’d only had a normal everyday meal tbh

Oh that’s really bad! I’m so sorry OP. I think it’s almost certain they’ve forgotten which is so shit! Can you have a bath, get into some comfys and watch a nice film. Have some snacky bits and a glass of wine maybe! I know it’s not the plan you had and I’m sending a big virtual hug your way.

Oh OP, that's so sad, I'm really sorry Sad will you be seeing them after Xmas? Hopefully there's an explanation that will make you feel better but I'm not sure what that could be.

It won't be anything personal, most likely something getting lost in communication and I'm sure they will be very apologetic when they find out what's happened, but not much consolation right now I'm sure.

Oh that's rough.

Sounds like they've dropped the ball between them, but the impact on you of their bit of thoughtlessness is huge.

There's nothing worse than people getting your hopes up, having you plan your day around them instead of making your own plans (however humble) – and then leaving you sitting there like a lemon.

I'm so sorry, OP, it sucks. Especially when you feel like the bottom of EVERYbody's list of priorities, all the time.

Been there, done that.

That’s sucks OP. If you can make the most of your night in whatever way possible. They are probably doing the best they c an and it can be hard to juggle everything and also all the family stuff they have going on personally.

it’s really crappy but you’ll remember this Christmas next year and you’ll be so much happier and glad.

Looks like that is what has happened, hopefully they realise and feel suitably embarrassed. Have you got some food in at all? If not try and make up for it tomorrow and order in a nice takeaway if you can stretch to it. Hopefully it's just an oversight and nothing bad has happened either. There aren't many people who would deliberately choose to leave someone out so most likely it is an oversight. Remember it won't always be shit just a shitty day today. Meantime enjoy your new digs it must be at least nice to have different accommodation for yourself. Look onwards and upwards and better Christmases ahead. Let us know how you get on tomorrow. 😀
