DD is awake already!

She's 10 so feel like she should be too old to be crazy excited but she woke up at 4.30 and can't go back to sleep 😩
she's on her tablet in bed and I've told her we can't wake DH until 6am. It's going to be a long day!!

My 10 year old didn’t fall asleep until 2.15am 😩 after much tossing and turning and crying that he couldn’t sleep. Don’t know what time he will wake up but I’ve been awake pretty much all night as couldn’t settle after 2 😩

My 13 year old too 😂to be fair, he went back to bed twice before coming to get me. Now he's quietly lying next to me on the sofa, been told he has to wait for DC2 to wake up!

I’ve been sitting here here showered, hair done, dressed and ready waiting for my DH and our 2 year old to wake up for about an hour because I was too excited 🤣 and I’m 32!

If you want to wake up batshit early that's fine, but I'm assuming you haven't woken your DH and DC. If you had, that'd be a dick move

Me too lol
Made me and dh drinks.
Put the tumble on - Encomy 7
Wash a few pots and glasses
Put the Christmas lights in the front window on, so the early morning workers and dog walkers will see them.
Quick peek at the tree to see what 'extra' presents 🎁 have appeared.
My son - 27 who is up for 6 days won't be up for ages.
Doesn't matter as we're opening presents after lunch.

I'm not annoyed, it's not uncommon for me to wake up at 4.30 anyway. I've had a coffee & I'm on mumsnet in the spare room.

I just found it mildly amusing because she doesn't believe in Santa but this is by far the earliest she's woken up.

@MrsMoggy I can still remember one year when I was about that age staying awake nearly all night because I was so excited!

Ahh its great that shes excited! Me and my brother have a little competition, the first to text each other Happy Christmas and we're in our 40's. Ive won this year by the way 🤣

I’m the only one awake in my house and I’m 37 😂 Newborn DS is asleep on my chest and DDs 8&6 asleep in their beds. I woke up at 3am and wasn’t sure I’d be able to get back to sleep as I was so excited so I’m happy I got another couple of hours. Just need to decide whether to stay here or try and sneak down and make coffee now. Merry Christmas everyone 🎄

I woke up at 4 with pain. Thought I was creeping around downstairs but 2 faces appeared and by half 5 all presents were opened and there are happy children.

I wouldn’t tear my 10 year old a new one ANY day of the year if he needs/wants his mum.

I'm typically up at that time anyway (chronic insomnia and a rotten cold/cough). At least I've chopped up cauliflower, peeled the sprouts and about to start on the spuds... and remembered to get the stuffing out of the freezer. DP is still snoozing upstairs. Nap time in a bit.

You can have a nap later and DH can take over.

My 14 year old came down for painkillers at about4, but went straight back to bed...
I've been awake since about 1am.. house full of flu and nephew rushed into a and e so sleep is not on the agenda!

I am the wrong side of 40 and have NEVER been able to sleep properly on Xmas eve. My kids asked last night what time they could get up, I said 8am. As if.

As usual, I'm the only one awake. I got an early Xmas present of a Nespresso coffee machine so I'm going to get up and make a fancy coffee. As per a PP, I too go back to bed for a nap after present opening!

my nearly 9 yo is the most excited he’s ever been for Christmas, so I relish being woken so early, hardly but I’m not “so angry” with it! It’s Christmas Day!

Mine have never been early risers even at Christmas but I am have been awake since 4am youngest is 13 don’t think they will be awake anytime soon

Glad I’m not the only adult who’s woken themselves up with excitement/ mind turning and is waiting for the kids. 😅 Mine are 4 and 2 but I’ve said no one can get up until at least 7 because we have a family member on the camp bed in the front room trying to sleep!

I'm the only one awake. DS2 must have come into my bed at some point, as he often does and is snoring next to me. No peep at all yet from DS1 which is a surprise as he went to bed early last night in his excitement.

I think I may get up and have a brew in peace before the madness begins.

Dog woke me at 5.40 so let her out and made a cuppa in my insulated mug. Sat in bed supping it and enjoying the peace and quiet. Will get up soon and fill stockings for teen DC and then take the dog out for a quick blast. Back before they wake up 😄.

My two (almost 4 and 1) are still asleep! They’re normally up at 5.30 on a normal day! I should be enjoying the lie in but can’t sleep so I’m going to parboil the potatoes! Merry Christmas!
