Ok courtesy of the Xmas bargains thread I have a lovely Hotel Chocolat wreath of chocolates plus the usual chocolate nuts etc. when do you all officially open them? . Is it Xmas day or are you all munching on them now.
All those boxes of roses/quality street etc . When do they get opened in your house?
My DH keeps asking if we can open them but I have been resisting but I am thinking today is the day as I am finished work now . What about everyone else?

I was wondering this too. We've already opened some items, and will open more this evening - feel like christmas is beginning this evening for some reason! If I had something REALLY special I'd probably save it until christmas eve, or christmas itself.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 23/12/2022 12:15

There's only me and DH - we don't go mad buying stuff but we've already polished off a tube of Pringles, a box of biscuits and a tub of peanuts 😬In our defence, the biscuit box was mostly packaging as they have been stingy with the edible content 😡

lugeforlife · 23/12/2022 12:20

We had a snowball whilst watching the strictly final after a few bits at my mums helping her out the tree up. Then back to normal mostly but I cracked open the Baileys last night as I finished work and it was the Traitors final.

Open season now til New Year's Day but to be honest we don't have heaps. None of us that fussed.

LindaEllen · 23/12/2022 12:29

I tend to open things once we've all finished for Christmas (work/uni/hobby). So, that would be today this year! Having said that, we've not got a huge amount. I seem to have really scaled down this year, and not on purpose! Could do with going shopping today really, but I just know the shops will be awful.

Topbird29 · 23/12/2022 12:31

Had friends over last weekend for get together with drinks and party food. So started tub of heroes then as they always help out with them. Not got the ferrero rocher out yet though!

Harrysmummy246 · 23/12/2022 12:47

Well DS off school, I've finished work and sister is up from London so we've been in not quite normal eating all week already.

Greensleevevssnotnose · 23/12/2022 13:12

More than a week ago! Luckily we were delivered a Tesco finest hamper as a gift yesterday so we are restocked. I have already drunk 3 bottles of Bailey's 2 of amaretto and three tiamaria 4 prosecco and three bottles if red. I am not replacing them until the Nye shop comes.

Irishfarmer · 23/12/2022 14:49

About 5 weeks ago! When they started selling the heroes on offer in Tesco.

As a child we had our selection boxes for breakfast on Christmas morning

I had Celebrations for breakfast 😂.

😂😂😂😂

Always4Brenner · 23/12/2022 15:31

Brought some buffet bits for tea had pate on sourdough bread lovely and tiny cheese bits with garlic etc on them. My usual fruit as well.

Bibbitybobbityboot · 23/12/2022 16:34

I started on the twiglets and Pringles when I finished work last week. Had a snowball last night. Everything else will come out later as DH finishes today. Daughter has been getting seemingly millions of sweets from school/ hobbies all month so she’s been getting through those.

BooksAndHooks · 23/12/2022 16:56

Throughout December. Whilst we are doing Christmassy things and watching films. I never see the point in waiting until. Hristmas day when there is so much food it gets overlooked. I prefer to enjoy each thing a little at a time.

HelloBunny · 23/12/2022 16:59

Started eating some this week. Feeling sick with a cold, so I haven’t gone crazy. Hoping to get stuck in properly tonight. I’m finished work now!

Growing up, my mum wouldn’t open anything until half way through Christmas Day. Then, she’d have a week to eat everything before going on a diet...

HelloBunny · 23/12/2022 17:02

I’m not so keen on booze & still have all of the wine / fizz / spirits from last year... Will have a little go of those!

Soccermumamir · 23/12/2022 17:02

We're starting today 😁🎅

Hahahahohoho · 23/12/2022 17:05

We went shopping today. Everything is open!

Season0fTheWitch · 23/12/2022 17:26

I've been picking all day, mainly at quality street and some pringles. Tomorrow is The Big Day of Feasting in this house

SagelyNodding · 23/12/2022 17:29

I've already finished my 'test' batch of mince pies!
Yesterday I 'tested' the cocktail I'm going to make for pre dinner drinks, today I tested the sorbet and calvados for the trou normand...
I'm considering opening the celebrations, but I might just keep ploughing through the liebkuchen instead!

Tinsella · 23/12/2022 17:45

Me & DH just cracked and started on the cheese & crackers while watching Paddington Grin

RupertBare · 23/12/2022 18:57

Have opened today because honestly, I've gone overboard so need to get cracking!

So I've allowed the J20s to be opened and a Yule log. Also a tin of quality street is on the go

crimbocountdown · 23/12/2022 18:59

Tins of roses and celebrations.....in September 🫣

NoNamesLeft234678 · 23/12/2022 19:07

All the treats have been out on the table since Monday but I've been feeling too poorly to eat much 😥

user1487194234 · 23/12/2022 19:10

Last night as we finished work and DC home from Uni

LimeCheesecake · 23/12/2022 19:17

We went too early and now we are out of lots of things! All the nuts and chocolate orange have gone. Currently working our way through the 2nd lot of quality street.

i may have to face the shops tomorrow.

TentoFive · 23/12/2022 19:19

2 hours ago. Many Quality Street are now within my person.
