Ok courtesy of the Xmas bargains thread I have a lovely Hotel Chocolat wreath of chocolates plus the usual chocolate nuts etc. when do you all officially open them? . Is it Xmas day or are you all munching on them now.
All those boxes of roses/quality street etc . When do they get opened in your house?
My DH keeps asking if we can open them but I have been resisting but I am thinking today is the day as I am finished work now . What about everyone else?

November 1st 🤣😂🤣😂

Then have to restock…… several times.

Not interested by the 26th. My diet starts then.

Lkydfju · 23/12/2022 10:52

Tomorrow when guests arrive; I feel quite bad on my DC who are looking longingly at the treats though so I’ve let them start on some bits

user1964097 · 23/12/2022 10:52

I'm eating some of the chocolate now, might not have room for it with the other stuff. DH has already polished off a M&S Christmas cake, he is the only one that eats it though and several boxes of mince pies, he was moaning the other day he had put on weight and couldn't understand it as he hadn't ate much. There is only us and DS who visits so there is still plenty left

Fink · 23/12/2022 10:53

Not until after midnight Mass on the 24th-25th. I've been fasting all through Advent so I won't get bored with the treats during Christmas!

Always4Brenner · 23/12/2022 10:55

Mince pie two day started last night pate today for lunch nice bread and nibbles.

suzyscat · 23/12/2022 10:58

I've been grazing on cheese and crackers intermittently cor weeks now but really stepped it up in the last few days.

The quality street tin will be opened later today, but have a special Christmas Eve chocolate set and a chocolate orange for Christmas Day - we'll still be working our way through the quals throughout too.

Christmas Eve canapés picky tea is being saved, Christmas dinner is being saved. The good mince pies can come out tonight, the panetone whenever. Only one of us likes marzipan fruits so they've been working through the little packet all month.

There's just so many lovely things to eat I don't see the point in saving everything. We won't be able to eat all of it if we do. We do a lot of family visits between Christmas and new year so better to start early whilst you're really excited and ready for it, rather than saving it for when you're post Christmas bloated and feeling the new years abstinence and resolve beckoning.

Hippywannabe · 23/12/2022 10:59

4pm on Xmas Eve. Absolutely not before then.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 23/12/2022 11:01

Oh, mince pies don't count, surely? I've been on two a day since the first, and have yet another batch in the oven now.

myfatisgettingfatter · 23/12/2022 11:02

I've ate the Matchmakers and hid the box so no one will know 🤭

Greyarea12 · 23/12/2022 11:09

Last Saturday.. 2 boxes gone..replaced them .. another box gone. 😛

maddiemookins16mum · 23/12/2022 11:13

Tonight. I’m off today, DH is finishing at 1pm. We have visitors arriving lunchtime tomorrow for 48 hours approx.

The house is almost spotless, shopping is done, have a gammon in the slow cooker and I’m making 3 dozen sausage rolls this afternoon.
Come this evening the Christmas chocs come out.

WimbyAce · 23/12/2022 11:13

We have already started on shortbread etc. Will be plenty of other stuff to eat Christmas and Boxing day so no point saving everything.

You're thinking right, when you break up from work sounds ideal.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 23/12/2022 10:16

I had Celebrations for breakfast 😂.

I like your style Grin

Ours is today.

We've been to crematorium to visit my mum and home and pan au chocolats in oven.

We don't get many days we can indulge as ds is a swimmer and only has 3 days off. Xmas day, Boxing Day and BH!

So we have nice food next 2 days and then 3 days of eating crap before back to food he needs rather than wants 🤣

I had 4 out of the Heroes on Wednesday night when I was wrapping presents.

Christmas Eve for me. Although I did try and buy some chocolates in to keep for Christmas back in November. Let’s just say they were gone by December! So my online shop comes today and won’t be opened til tomorrow.

DreamingofItaly2023 · 23/12/2022 11:21

Christmas Eve

chimichangaz · 23/12/2022 11:30

I bought a tub of celebrations weeks ago. They were eaten weeks ago Blush

Started on the wine and pork pie last night too. I think the week before Christmas is fair game.

Parky04 · 23/12/2022 11:39

Peanuts were opened yesterday. I do have a massive bag to get through though!

Bobbybobbins · 23/12/2022 11:49

Love this thread! We started on crisps and nuts last night. Too ill for Christmas booze 🦠

Tinsella · 23/12/2022 11:55

Chocolates and sweets I got as gifts from work were opened last night.

Im sick of mince pies already, as have had so many foisted on me at work for weeks!

Everything else has to wait until tomorrow.

mamatoTails · 23/12/2022 11:57

Today, it's my kids first day of the holidays!

pinkksugarmouse · 23/12/2022 12:06

We don’t buy loads of Christmas treats. There’s usually only DH and me. Although DD (20) will be here this year.
We have a sleekster box of hotel chocolat each and our Christmas tradition is to open them on Christmas Eve. I have one a day only so they tend to last.

Posh chocolates are wasted on DD she doesn’t notice the difference but we have a vegan chocolate torte and ice-cream for Christmas Day (and Boxing Day as it has 6 servings) so there’s that too.

LadyLapsang · 23/12/2022 12:06

We don’t buy things like tins of Quality Street, I would only munch through them mindlessly and feel down when I step on the scales the next morning. There was a bar of nice chocolate with my flower delivery yesterday and that was delicious, have saved some for DH. Will have some stollen and mince pies over Christmas. Wine, smoked salmon, good cheese etc. we have all year round.

silverclock222 · 23/12/2022 10:26

Ate my obligatory slice of toast then scoffed half a Terry's Chocolate Orange as a breakfast chaser. Get em opened!

Hahaha this made me chuckle!

Yes I opened them today and put them out.
