Present arrived in branded parcel :(

I'm so deflated, purchased husbands Christmas present and it was due to arrive tomorrow when he was out. Text from courier while I was out shopping to say it was about to be delivered today while he was in. Selected safe place but they bloody delivered to the front door and it's in a branded box with the contents plastered all over! So now he knows his big present, so frustrated. He lovessss Christmas and surprises so he's taken it well but I know is so gutted :(

Has this happened to anyone else this year? Make me feel better with your stories!

I cancelled an online order for something for that very reason! Ended up buying it from Amazon instead (even though I'd have preferred not to). At least I was warned about it though, on the retailer's website.

For a child it's annoying. For an adult less so.

It's just as annoying for an adult @PAFMO, if you're buying something that's supposed to be a surprise for them!

This happened to me on Amazon. Was a large parcel so they tell you it comes unboxed but you can select not to if it’s a gift. Ticked the “plain box” option and it was ignored. It’s the only thing I got for DH that was a surprise and money is tight this year. I was devastated too as I didn’t get to see his face. His birthday is close to Christmas and he really values gift giving and receiving. Obviously it doesn’t ruin the days but it’s a hard pill to swallow when you’ve thought hard about spending money.

I've had bad luck with packages this year. They either arrive in random reused boxes all battered and dirty or they arrive with what's inside stamped all over it.

It would have happened here if the bloke hadn’t very fortunately been out when his present arrived. It’s really bloody annoying.

I knew of a bloke who booked a special surprise weekend in a hotel for him & his wife's anniversary, told the hotel it was a big secret & only to speak to him, etc - & someone at the hotel called the wife to check some details. They weren't popular.

Yes, we both get all our parcels delivered to our workplaces, but sometimes forget and use our home address. It is annoying but saves a lot of cardboard.

Amazon did this to me last year. Bought a new magimix Nespresso machine for DH. No packaging options, and when it came it was in the Nespresso box with a big picture of the machine in the front and sides. With an address sticker slapped in the middle. No external packaging at all!

I got some ice cube cooling things for piles from Amazon the other day with just the address label stuck on the outside of the product box. Would have fitted through the letter box but the delivery guy knocked for some reason so that was fun making eye contact. At least hadn’t had it sent to work….

I bought a 'personal trimmer' from Amazon a few weeks ago and it came with a sticker slapped on the side of the actual package. No external packing at all. Cheers Amazon

As an adult I don’t really see it as a big deal, it’s not like it’s ruining the magic of Santa for him - the surprise has just come a few days early, that’s all.

I've taken delivery of all my parcels form DH and safe to say he is gutted that I don't have any surprises for Xmas day now. He assumed (I don't know why) they would come in unbranded boxes

Lakeland did this to me this year with one of DH’s presents. Luckily I answered the door. I’m still annoyed though.

Oh and his main present ( A guitar amp from Roland) just vpcame unbranded but he’d chosen that so it wasn’t a surprise. Very annoying though.

Just so you know, American Golf do this as well.

Taking no chances this year so having to traipse to Currys tomorrow to collect his present rather than having it delivered.

It's annoying when that happens. Even more annoying is when it has no packaging and gets left in the mouldy compost bin not your nice dry designated safe place.
