Bloody DH - spoiled surprises.

Firstly I know, there are bigger things, war in Ukraine, COL crisis and so on, but I'm feeling a bit hormonal and sorry for myself today, having got up to feed the cat this morning and found that DH had left the shopping he did while I was out yesterday on the side in the kitchen, with his gifts for me plainly on show.

He tried to pass one of them off as being for his Sister, until I pointed out that we do presents with them before Christmas, so if he's bluffing I'll still know when she opens her present.

It's very far from the end of the world, and I appreciate I'm lucky to be gifted lovely things when others have nothing, I just wanted a little self-indulgent moan at his carelessness really, since it's caused the only surprises I receive to be spoiled (Parents give cash and we don't really do presents with anyone else).

DH is apologetic but that doesn't make me un-see them!

@ChicCroissant Yes if they've asked for something of course, but if they haven't asked then I don't just blurt out what I've bought them in advance because adults shouldn't need surprises

His gifts were delivered to my work. I'll wrap them there one night after I've finished and bring them home then. I haven't taken them from home to work to hide them, that would indeed be over the top.

I’ve bought all of the Christmas presents for myself from our joint money and given them to DH to wrap for me. I love everything 😂

I couldn’t be too upset in your shoes. So many on MN don’t get anything!!

Have you got any general wrapping to do? I'd get it all out and tell DH to get his "sister's" gifts out and you'll wrap them while you're at it and watch his face😂

Seriously though, what was he thinking?! He (hopefully) won't do that again! I'd just say look, in the grand scheme of things it's not a huge deal but I would like a surprise to open on the day, doesn't have to be a big one.

Totally with you OP!! Doesn’t take much effort to leave that bag in the boot of the car, or at least put in the bottom of a wardrobe. I have a DH who is similar - yes well done him for getting something he know’s we’ll like but when you are mum & have to do ALL the gifts it’s nice on Christmas morning to have something thoughtful as a little surprise.

That's a bit careless and shit IMHO. However it's better than my exH who never bought me a birthday or Xmas present in 20 years.
