Where on earth can I get Prime drink at?

My 13 year old hasn't really asked for anything much for Christmas but he wrote a letter to keep his little sister happy. He puts clothes, headphones and some sort of Prime energy drink him and has mates are all mad for. He's not allowed energy drinks and he knows this but I thought I'd buy him one bottle just for fun, and to keep the magic alive for the little one (she would know that I would NEVER buy him that so it keeps Santa alive). However the only place I can get the stuff at is Amazon at 28.99 a bottle!!!!! What is this stuff and why is it so popular? And where can it be bought at a normal price?

Mine would love some but I'm not flogging myself to get it and don't like the selling on if it. It feels all wrong

That was my thinking too, defo not up for buying on eBay or anything daft like that, it when I saw it on the shelf I couldn't believe my luck!

Lucky you @baxtersm

DS and his spend a whole Saturday recently visiting all the Asda's locally to see if they could get some.

It's crackers but no more mad that the fads of the 80's

DS would love some in his stocking. Might have to do a late night trip

VirginiaQ · 02/12/2022 13:03

Our local garage had shelves of the stuff the other day. It's got a Spar attached. Son was surprised as he thought only Asda could stock it. Can't remember how much I paid for a couple of bottles but it wasn't unusually expensive.

TokyoSushi · 02/12/2022 13:28

Oh my, I'm starting to feel slightly stressed now, DS really wants some and I thought I might pop one in his stocking. The days are counting down and I'm no closer to getting any!

c3pu · 02/12/2022 13:30

I found some in my local asda yesterday, the red one. Bought 3 bottles (£2 a go!) as my 12 yo DS has been going on about it for ages.

It was bloody disgusting.

THisbackwithavengeance · 02/12/2022 13:31

My 13 year old DD asked for a fiver to buy a bottle; my response "As if!"

Just say no, OP. Tell him there's a cost of living crisis going on and it would be immoral and obscene as well as downright stupid to spend that amount of money on a bottle of pop.

OhIdoLike2bBesideTheSeaside · 02/12/2022 13:34

Oh how ridiculous what a waste of money

Can't wait to see his face on Christmas morning 😊😊

You do realise that the craze will be over by then?

It's a parent's job to discourage this madness, not feed it.

It really won't. The crazy has been around for a few months now and no signs of stopping amongst children. OP glad you managed to find some 😄

TokyoSushi · 02/12/2022 13:40

Good grief, we're talking about a £2 drink, Merry Christmas folks!

Why? Why is it a waste if a child wants it.

I hate when adults decide what items should have value. The whole point of a gift is something the receiver would like.

It is £2, yes it is difficult to get , yes it is a marketing ploy, but they are kids, it's OK to want to be part of a craze.

NashvilleQueen · 02/12/2022 15:27

Banned at our school because children were selling it

TokyoSushi · 02/12/2022 16:03

Well a very random thing has happened here. DS says that he was walking to one of his lessons and somebody who he didn't know from another year randomly gave him a bottle. He's brought it home and is absolutely delighted. It was all sealed and legit, happy days!

AriettyHomily · 02/12/2022 17:06

It's £1.75 for a 500ml coke in Tesco now, so £2 for something that a kid wants for Christmas isn't too much a stretch!

Guys I drove the ten miles to my nearest Asda today not even thinking I would get any. There were 6 bottles left on the shelf!!! So I got 3, I was shaking with the adrenaline of it. Can't wait to see his face on Christmas morning 😊😊

That's great news OP! It doesn't matter what the items are, there's nothing like managing to get that one special thing they ask for at Christmas.
It was thunderbirds for my brother years ago and a doll for me. My mom still tells me how she felt when she managed to get them.
I completely understand how you feel and I am sure he will be over the moon with them.
Merry Christmas!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 02/12/2022 17:36

There was some on the shelves at the service station heading west at Ross on Wye last night.

Wow a random act of kindness how nice

is it delicious
or youth elixir??
whats the appeal…we are still in bubble tea mode

Not delicious at all. It tastes way too sweet

caramac04 · 02/12/2022 18:35

I genuinely think they keep supplies short to create an increased demand. It’s absolutely shameful the prices being charged. The website never has any stock and some Asda employees grab a load and take it to share with their mates on the till. Could only be one each and they are all desperate to get hold of it too.
I’m going to ask a family member to create a fake label, he’s got a ‘decal machine’ (?). and sod copyright. A young relative managed to get one bottle and reused it with water for as long as he possibly could.
KSI and his business mate should be ashamed.

mrsconradfisher · 02/12/2022 21:19

I got DS a bottle from eBay for his birthday last week. I’d previously said absolutely not so he was so excited. It was £7.99 if that helps?

ClownFaceMagoo · 02/12/2022 21:27

The hype is settling down, my ds and his friends are obsessed with it but our local asda now has it reliably in stock, it was like gold dust a few weeks ago.
It tastes like disgusting sweet squash to me but them I’m not 11 🤷‍♀️

ohmyohmy123 · 02/12/2022 22:34

My sister tried in Asda multiple times. She was eventually told that they keep it out the back and don't put it on the shelves. The manager was rude and told her they didn't have any despite a staff member saying they did. The manager is obviously selling it on at a profit to these vile people who charge a stupid amount!!

WotsitsQuavers · 02/12/2022 22:46

KSI and Legal Paul's drink.

Have you watched them in YouTube? Especially their episodes of 20 women and Tinder dates?

A waste of a whole £2 on her child for Christmas. Bet Christmas is fun in your house

BakewellGin1 · 03/12/2022 16:17

Our local Asda usually has stock of blue and red ones - at approx 6.00am

Also our local Shell Garage had some late on in the day last week.

Just the usual price not inflated.

Absolute bollocks.
