Where on earth can I get Prime drink at?

My 13 year old hasn't really asked for anything much for Christmas but he wrote a letter to keep his little sister happy. He puts clothes, headphones and some sort of Prime energy drink him and has mates are all mad for. He's not allowed energy drinks and he knows this but I thought I'd buy him one bottle just for fun, and to keep the magic alive for the little one (she would know that I would NEVER buy him that so it keeps Santa alive). However the only place I can get the stuff at is Amazon at 28.99 a bottle!!!!! What is this stuff and why is it so popular? And where can it be bought at a normal price?

Oh wait - linked to Logan Paul? Will be crossing that off my teens lists then if they've added it!

Verite1 · 21/11/2022 20:45

Yep - my sons school are mad for it. Kids even buy the empty bottles! He’s asked for some for Xmas but I’ve told him no chance!!

Choosealane · 21/11/2022 20:50

My ds got some on a TikTok shop - £20 for 4. Crazy - it was not good enough to buy twice so taught him a lesson not to listen to you tube hype.

Hesleepswiththefishes · 21/11/2022 20:51

is it delicious
or youth elixir??
whats the appeal…we are still in bubble tea mode

The Prime craze is absolute horseshit. There is no way I'm driving to several Asda's at 9am on a Sunday to buy some sugary water. I've had a good chat with my boy about marketing ploys, being a sheep and being sucked in by hype. he gets it now and thinks only gullible kids and those trying to be popular are buying into it. This kind of consumer stupidity needs to stop. £10 for a bottle of squash? The amount people are willing to pay for this is a direct measure of their stupidity.

dandelionthistle · 21/11/2022 20:58

I assumed my 10yo had misunderstood something when he started on about this because it just MAKES NO SENSE.

He did manage to get a bottle at asda once (ours apparently restock on Saturday teatime?!). The empty bottle is still sitting proudly in his room, lined up with particularly cherished clay models and summer holiday trophies, bless him.

I particularly enjoy that Asda is the chosen shop. 😂 Kids are great.

Couldn't agree more NO FUCKING WAY!

BaconAndAvocado · 21/11/2022 21:15

baxtersm unfortunately not!

Crystaly · 21/11/2022 21:24

It’s not an energy drink. More a vitamin drink made from coconut water. And yes I can’t believe the teenagers of today are going wild for vitamin water.

DMDCAGM · 21/11/2022 21:26

Agree the Prime thing is crackers. It's not actually £10 in Asda, though, I feel I should point out!

Selling on for a profit has apparently landed some kids in multiple detentions at my DC's school.

Totally ridiculous but you have to marvel at the kerching value for these YouTubers I guess.

megletthesecond · 21/11/2022 21:59

Mine think Logan Paul is an idiot so there's no chance they'll be wanting it.

PeeJayDay · 21/11/2022 23:05

It's not a tenner ffs 🤦🏽‍♀️

TokyoSushi · 21/11/2022 23:14

Same here 🙄 one of DS friends Nan works in Asda and managed to get one 🤣

DS saw one lying on a bench in the street a few weeks ago and was desperate to take it, I wouldn't let him!

Whowhatwherewhenwhy1 · 22/11/2022 04:17

Asda. Early am or late pm as it sells out fast once the school kids get there. My sons both thought it was foul!

baxtersm · 01/12/2022 22:14

Guys I drove the ten miles to my nearest Asda today not even thinking I would get any. There were 6 bottles left on the shelf!!! So I got 3, I was shaking with the adrenaline of it. Can't wait to see his face on Christmas morning 😊😊

It’s a special gift, just get it for him especially if there’s nothing else he wants. Also as far as I know it’s a kid friendly so-called “energy drink”. In other words just a soft drink with no caffeine (for those prices!!!)

HairyKitty · 01/12/2022 22:31

Cross posted- hooray

Thischarmlessgirl · 02/12/2022 08:55

Our local petrol station has it for £2.99 but it sells out quickly, I managed to get DS one of each flavour for his stocking. A local independent convenience store here sells it for £9!

Bisk · 02/12/2022 09:01

Can't wait to see his face on Christmas morning 😊😊

You do realise that the craze will be over by then?

It's a parent's job to discourage this madness, not feed it.

Octopus45 · 02/12/2022 09:55

Thanks for this, I've just ordered some for my 13 year old

Crystaly · 02/12/2022 10:34

Great news! He will be chuffed. They are only young once and I’m fully here for getting them their most wanted present even if it doesn’t make sense to us.

You sound like fun. It was a £2 drink. 🙄

Wow I’m glad you’re not my mum! 😂

Blisterlip · 02/12/2022 11:32

Mine would love some but I'm not flogging myself to get it and don't like the selling on if it. It feels all wrong

lorisparkle · 02/12/2022 12:15

Glad you managed to get some! I had a phone call from my son who asked if I could pick him up from the local Asda petrol station. When I got there it was like a 13 year olds birthday party! They had just had a delivery of Prime and 'word had got our'! They were restricting sales but it was sold out in 30minutes. It was crazy!
