Hi, my 6 year old has this at the top of the list.
I need to get her main present but she already has bike, scooter, tablet so abit stuck for a main gift but dont want to spend 170 pounds on one, which is how much it is and that is down from 250.

Ive seen the camper, which is 70. Wondering if this would be a disappointment? Or if anyone else has an idea of another make thats similar but less than £100?

Or any other ideas welcome

We've had a kidcraft house in the past & they're great.

I got my (then) 6 year old the Malibu Barbie house. She would have loved the dream house but aside from the cost that thing is absolutely massive! The Malibu Barbie house is still a good size but folds up neatly (and is considerably cheaper!).

LaTangerina · 19/11/2022 12:42

You can often pick up second hand barbie sized houses from marketplace too so worth looking.

I read it as she already has those things not that she’s getting them for this Christmas.

wouldthatbeworse · 19/11/2022 12:44

sorry. I think I misread your OP. Some great suggestions already. I’d go with something barbie branded even if it’s not the big house

RobinRobinMouse · 19/11/2022 12:45

The Barbie Malibu House and 3 storey Town House are both on offer on Amazon at the moment, maybe one of them would do?

Yes, I’m an idiot. I’ve been a bit blown away by how much some people buy. Not the OP. And it’s none of my business anyway

Have a look on studio.
I got my daughter a lovely really big wooden one from there for a fraction of a price of the plastic barbie ones!

ObjectionSustained · 19/11/2022 13:05

I bought the Dreamhouse for my DD for her birthday.

It was £199 from Smyths and that was on offer too. DD absolutely loves it, plays with it every single day and is so grateful for it; I was so unsure when buying it but honestly, it's one of the greatest presents she's ever had.

It is an absolute monster though, takes up a huge amount of floor space (you need to access the front and back of it) and stands at least 3ft tall.

I'd make sure DD is absolutely going to play with it before you buy, it's a huge expense to gather dust.

Brighteyedtriangle · 19/11/2022 14:16

Thanks for the advice off to google the malibu one.

If I could say confidently she would play with everyday I would maybe stretch but I really dont know if she would.

Is it really that big. I havent actually seen one in real life. I think if its that big made the decision for me then.

I'd look to buy a second hand one, at 6 she's not going to notice, but she might be disappointed at a non-branded one.

december212 · 19/11/2022 19:19

My daughter got the dream house last Christmas. Agree on size, it's huge. It's solid for being made of plastic though and my daughter has played with it alot, it still looks immaculate though. It might be the wee things like the lift, lights and hanging chair that she likes so watch out for this as some of the cheaper alternatives might not cut it.
For a cheaper similar present the LOL campervan was a hit the year before and folds out to look pretty impressive.

Cantbebotheredwithchores · 19/11/2022 19:36

Second with the kidcraft dolls house, made of wood rather than plastic. They're cheaper and fit barbies in!

This one in Liverpool? Whereabouts roughly are you?

TourmalineGiraffe · 19/11/2022 19:41

I have one that I am looking to sell.
Had it a year and it's immaculate with all the fittings.
I will be listing on eBay at £100 so worth checking for good second hand ones there

OldWivesTale · 19/11/2022 19:42

There are loads on Facebook marketplace for less than a 100.

OldWivesTale · 19/11/2022 19:43

I can't believe how crap it looks for the money!

Snuzzle · 19/11/2022 19:51

I would check with her why exactly she wants the dream house before you buy a different house. If it's the pool and slide or the lights and sounds she especially wants then another set probably won't cut it.

Would definitely recommend trying Facebook marketplace or maybe vinted for a second hand one because that would save you having to spend hours putting it together.
Otherwise it's on a payment plan deal on Amazon at the moment so you can buy but pay in instalments.

fdkc · 19/11/2022 19:54

My daughter (5) has the dream house and its the most played with toy in the house. I thought the price was extortionate when I bought it but now i think it was worth every penny. Every child that comes into the house loves it.

bookworm14 · 19/11/2022 19:58

My DD has the Malibu house which is much cheaper, folds up quite small and still comes with lots of furniture. The dream house is insanely large and just not practical if your own house isn’t equally big!

DD used to have this as her Barbie house, it had the wow factor as was massive and was played with daily for about 3 years.

By some massive stroke of luck somebody was giving it away on marketplace with all the furniture for £15, that was a good day!

Cupcakegirl13 · 19/11/2022 20:08

I bought this last year when my DD asked for the dream house as we couldn’t stretch the the dream house and she absolutely loves it plays with it everyday. It’s on offer too on Argos.
