Hi, my 6 year old has this at the top of the list.
I need to get her main present but she already has bike, scooter, tablet so abit stuck for a main gift but dont want to spend 170 pounds on one, which is how much it is and that is down from 250.

Ive seen the camper, which is 70. Wondering if this would be a disappointment? Or if anyone else has an idea of another make thats similar but less than £100?

Or any other ideas welcome

You could get a second hand one? We got the 2020 dream house on market place for DD(3 years old) and it was a absolute steal! Paid £65 for it, came with all the furniture, accessories, some dolls and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. It is huge though but DD plays with it daily so been a great investment. She's getting the camper van for Christmas and that's actually quite big too 😅

TheRookie · 19/11/2022 20:14

There is a Jupiter workshops one in Argos that is £100. I have bought that for my 4 year old, it looks amazing!

OhamIreally · 19/11/2022 20:16

My DD got the butterfly house years ago as a gift it packs away and she played with it every day. She did have the dream house for a while but it didn't get played with as much.

I would look second hand - and for the camper van there's loads on gumtree.

lking679 · 19/11/2022 20:33

We are in same position! Was going to get a second hand/alternative but this years dream house comes with a lift which DD has spotted and has talked about. Think we’re just going to take plunge and buy it. She already has camper which I bought second hand and she plays with all the time.

yummyscummymummy01 · 19/11/2022 20:34

We've got the 2020 dream house bought on Facebook second hand for £90. Was immaculate and is played with daily. Also the top floor comes off quite easily for transportation. It is a beast though!

I can't believe how crap it looks for the money!

It really isn't for Barbie loving kids, though.

Comes with loads of accessories, has lights/sounds/music and provides hours of play time.

It's paid for itself in that alone. Whenever DDs friends come round that's what they head for - one has asked for it for Christmas herself because she loves it so much.

That's fair enough then. If it gets played with and they love it then it's worth it. It just looks a bit rubbish on the photo. But I'm old so what do I know 😁

PinkPrettyAndPointed · 20/11/2022 00:10

Dd2 (7) got the dream house for Christmas last Christmas and she's honestly played with it most days. It's so big though it's in our lounge room and she calls it the Barbie corner 🙄

She has the camper van but I've put that away as she doesn't use it that much and the Barbie corner was taking over the house.

DD used to have this as her Barbie house, it had the wow factor as was massive and was played with daily for about 3 years.

By some massive stroke of luck somebody was giving it away on marketplace with all the furniture for £15, that was a good day!

Haha, what a bargain find

Ive looked on market place and they are all on for 120-150 pound and tbh Id rather throw the extra money in for new. No bargains near me but im keep an eye on it anyway.

My daughter (5) has the dream house and its the most played with toy in the house. I thought the price was extortionate when I bought it but now i think it was worth every penny. Every child that comes into the house loves it.

Ahhh youve twisted my arm 🤣 im just unsure on the size, price and not even sure how much shed play with it

I bought this last year when my DD asked for the dream house as we couldn’t stretch the the dream house and she absolutely loves it plays with it everyday. It’s on offer too on Argos.

Ive seen this and thought brilliant on offer but it has really bad reviews

I had a massive Sindy house as a child and loved it! Out of interest just had a look at the Barbie options and I get it! It has a slide and a swimming pool! 🤣

One way to look at it, you'll get more resale value from the Dreamhouse than the others, so net the cost isn't so bad.

If you have the room, I'd be tempted to get it. If you are in a small house, I'd be talking to my DD about there not being the room and eg the fold up Malibu would be better to ask for.

RoastedTurnip · 20/11/2022 08:28

We got the kidcraft (second hand!) Last year for my 4 year old. She calls it the Barbie dream house and I know it'll last waaaay longer. Definitely recommend it

Hophop26 · 20/11/2022 08:35

At 6 I wouldn’t risk one of the wooden / non-branded alternatives - we got away with that at 3 for eldest DD but not for other DD at 5, the dreamhouse has features that they very much want and the others don’t - the newer dreamhouse has lights and sounds for example, and the egg chair, lift etc. The wooden ones are still not cheap and it will be a costly compromise really without the same wow

If not stretching to the dreamhouse I would stick with Barbie brand and get one of the smaller Barbie houses instead

Hophop26 · 20/11/2022 08:38

Barbie stuff is also largely indestructible we have a lot of it and not broken even with heavy use, in comparison we have a very broken wooden dollhouse that didn’t withstand the same use at all

Jusmakingit · 20/11/2022 08:51

My DD keeps bringing this bloody house up as well, its massive ! I have told her maybe next year cause iv already done all her presents this year and shes getting a playmobil dolls house the old victorian one, she has seen and likes to.
We have the dream camper thing whatever its called with the pool , it never shuts properly so frustrating lol but she does play with it alot. My parents always do a 'big' gift so im planning on chucking some money into it for next year and they can get it.

Sadly children dont get the cost side, my son has asked for an oculus !! Not going to happy as its so expensive, nealry £500 for a new one or around £250 for a decent second hand one. Will get played with once or twice and thatl be it. Like his xbox, other VR headset and other 'phase' toys/games he goes through.

ahh to be young again lol

Badnewsoracle · 20/11/2022 09:06

It's enormous!

We've got it for my daughter for Christmas. I got it off eBay, £80. Immaculate and absolutely complete. We rarely buy anything brand new!

frozendaisy · 20/11/2022 09:10

What about the Barbie town house?

plinkypots · 20/11/2022 09:13

All I can find is the 2021 house. Would someone link to the 2022 version with all the bells and whistles?

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 20/11/2022 09:17

My DD got the dream house last year. It takes up loads of space and like a pp said it stands around 3ft tall. My DD still plays with it but to be honest I don't think it's worth the money,

SpringSparrow · 20/11/2022 09:21

@plinkypots
I think this is it

RubertRoo · 20/11/2022 09:23

My DD also wanted this but I got the Jupiter Workshops Malibu Mansion from Argos for £90 instead. Think it's back up to £100 now. It's bigger than the Barbie one and is wooden so should last longer than the plastic Barbie one which I keep reading reviews of it cracking and breaking.

It still has a pool and slides and lights and all sorts so looks exactly the same just without the Barbie stickers.

I'd look to buy a second hand one, at 6 she's not going to notice, but she might be disappointed at a non-branded one.
