Silly question but as tescos are releasing Xmas slot tomorrow what slots is it that people are aiming for, is it Xmas eve? Surely that’s a bit risky if half the shop doesn’t turn up?

23rd morning, always go out on xmas eve.

I have a midweek saver so need tue, wed or Thursday (I'll take any as I'm disabled and struggle to get to a supermarket) it always worries me I won't get a slot. I never leave anything till the last shop and always have alternatives in (eg a

Pressed to soon agamon joint, frozen veg etc
So I'm just happy with any slot going!

I don't think they usually deliver on the 24th anyway.

Ah I’ve just checked and it’s only selected stores, ours is a dot com centre and definitely seen Xmas eve slots last year I assumed that’s what everyone was queuing online for

I was surprised to see that I could book up to the 20th December last week, that was with a Tesco Delivery Pass. I was thinking of getting up early tomorrow to grab a slot in Christmas Week but when I thought about it, the 20th will be fine as I don’t actually cook on Christmas Day, we go to my sister and I order the turkey from a butcher. So as long as I plan my meals, I think everything will be fine on the 20th - I meal plan for 10 days at a time anyway and pop a few bits in the freezer. I reckon I might just need fresh cream and bread which I can get from our local garage store.

I am disabled and cannot really go food shopping other than the odd item so I don’t like leaving it too close to Christmas Day in case things are out of stock. Anything not delivered on the 20th, I will get my sister to put on her Sainsburys order!

I can only book up to 11th December right now? We have an anytime delivery pass so would have thought I could book up to 20th as above. I had priority slots during covid due to shielding and am listed as disabled on our account so you'd think we'd get the same advance booking options. Alarm set for 6am 😐

Yes, there was a whole episode of The Good Life when Margot's Christmas was not delivered.

I use delivery slots defensively IYSWIM - with good use of the freezer in the run up, plus time to hit the shops after is anything crucial is missing.

And I don't always bother with a Christmas week online order anyhow (resent the extra deliver charge). I get everything heavy in the couple of weeks before that, ditto anything freezable, and that leaves a much smaller list in the final countdown. And just about everything except sprouts can come from local convenience store, so don't even need to tackle the supermarket.

I go for 23rd so I have time to get hold of any missing item in a real shop.

I don’t know what happened! Last week I was offered choices for six weeks ahead so snaffled the 16th and 20th Dec. But tonight when I checked, it’s gone back to four weeks so only to 11th like you.

I was finishing off an order and went to book my next one when I was placed in a queue, number 3400 or something, with a Christmas background, telling me to wait until I got through. I was shocked as I knew the slots were due after 6 am on the 15th but hey ho, the dates came up!

I looked in My Orders and it clearly shows that I have got those dates for delivery and I have taken a screen shot with the order numbers in case they don’t show up later!

I wonder if there was a brief glitch in the computer system and I just happened to log in then?

I don’t think they are releasing until the end of the month.

I've got a Tesco delivery pass a d usually try and get a slot for the 22nd.

However, this year we are in the process of moving house and are hoping to be in the new house by mid December. It's a nightmare as I can't book a slot ahead and I can't buy now and freeze as the freezer needs to be empty for the move. I'm not sure what we'll be eating on Christmas Day!

I've booked my Ocado for 23rd in afternoon, I got my slot at midnight on the day they were released.

I've done all my main Christmas food order from M&S to collect on 24th and have an Asda delivery of other stuff on 23rd

I'm guessing you and I beat the queue by logging in early.

@Brechdanjamcaws sorry haven't had my caffeine yet. I meant queue for the queue I've got my phone and iPad ready. I usually shop on my iPad but last year I couldn't get through at all on my iPad and it was only when I eventually tried my phone I could get in.
