I don't know what to get him.
He doesn't like stuff - no gadgets, posters, jokey gifts.
He doesn't drink
Is vegan so no food products
He doesn't have any hobbies really.
Things that have been a success in the past are a laptop tray and headphones.
I need help!!!

@TragicMuse brutalist architecture map of London?

He's not really bothered about London - we don't live there so it doesn't have any resonance for him!

We also don't have wall-space but that a whole other matter...

Umbrellasaregood · 13/11/2022 17:58

@TragicMuse but you could go and look at all the Brutalism?

TragicMuse · 13/11/2022 18:01

I'll be trying to find black moleskin trousers in a 36" leg which are a normal price and not utterly ridiculously expensive.

A jumper, chocolate, some CDs he's into, some books, maybe gig tickets if there's anyone he wants to see.

It's all also complicated by his birthday being 2 weeks before Christmas.

Honestly, he's wonderful and impossible!

We could, but it's just not his thing!

He is truly impossible. Conversely he's an excellent present giver. But he just doesn't generally have wants, he's not acquisitive at all.

Bag or wallet or washbag made from recycled inner tubes / lorry curtains from a social enterprise supporting people in Malawi? I've got the second two items, angling for the first for me for Xmas!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/11/2022 18:07

Voucher for a lovely meal out with good vegan options

TragicMuse · 13/11/2022 18:07

I'm not being defeatist btw! There will be things. But it's hard and it takes time and prompting.

He's also really self-effacing and puts everyone else first. I like to treat him because he's a genuinely awesome person and I adore him...

I'd love that. For him, that's a no! He doesn't use a wallet. Or wear a watch. Or use a bag.

TragicMuse · 13/11/2022 18:10

Aaanyway I'm going to stop thread-jacking!

You guys are great. I've bought him one of those mystery Things and I'm looking at nice coats/outdoor clothes.

He's vegan so no food products??

We're vegan, we eat food all the time.

What about VeganKind shop or Animal Aid shop where they sell nice vegan foods?

You could also go for one of those fancy non-alcoholic beverages.

Nice set of cups for tea or coffee?

Tyne Chease are amazing at vegan cheese rounds made from cashews.

@DuchessSilver Where did you get the hat/torch thing from? It sounds like my DP's dream gift! Grin

Amazon (I'm sure they're available elsewhere!)

Snap! They are amazing. I love the truffle one! I eat the whole thing to myself in one sitting.

It's nothing like other vegan cheeses.

mdh2020 · 13/11/2022 18:30

Biggest success - a bat detector, a day of falconry, a box of non alcoholic beers

eelieza · 13/11/2022 18:33

my suggestion is a cat

Muchtoomuchtodo · 13/11/2022 18:36

There is a great range of gifts on the ordnance survey website
we have a local vegan deli who do great hampers - if you’re in south east wales let me know!
the marvellous maps range is great too

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 13/11/2022 19:13

Some low impact clothing - I'm guessing that if he is vegan, he'll appreciate the low impact/sustainable philosophies of somewhere like Howies, Pantagonia, Rapanui, Thought, BAM, TenTree, People Tree.

Walking stick/staff
Binoculars
Massage certificate
Box set
Certificate for car valeting
Cashmere scarf
Good gloves
Session with personal trainer
Audiobooks for his commute
High end sunglasses
Battery powered drill or garden equipment

Not sure a vegan would appreciate a cashmere scarf

masterofnone · 13/11/2022 19:38

This might be good, if he has a favourite walking area shop.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMItayB7_Or-wIVh6ztCh2P0g_dEAAYASAAEgJNjvD_BwE

Shamelessly place marking for ideas!

ALittleBitAhAh · 13/11/2022 20:14

Honestly Tasty vegan cheese is really good. I particularly like the 'Blue'. I'm ordering their Christmas selection now actually as this thread has reminded me to do so!

@whosaidtha I'm sorry but you are wrong. 99% of vegan cheese is awful. But Tyne Cheeze is AMAZING. Try it.
