Thread 9 - the one with stocking fingers

@6poundshower thanks for the title. A stocking finger sounds far too small to fit many bargains in though! 🤣

Apologies for belatedly setting this up - was at a primary tour for potential school for ds and then working. Pesky RL! Hope you can all find me.

Does anyone know of anywhere better than Amazon to look for board games? Or wait for Black Friday?

I'd like to buy one each for dc-9&13 & request one for myself. I like the sound of wingspan.

Also if there's any great games in small packages/boxes, that would be fab to know as space is limited

Have you tried top trumps? Not a board game but went down really well with virtually every child I've known and loads of themed sets plus it's tiny. Otherwise I'd recommend buying them from a board game shop if possible as they usually have loads that you'll never have heard of and you can often try before you buy. Bit more expensive for the same game obviously but they'll often recommend one that meets your needs better anyway.

Apparently there is 6 months free apple TV with any purchase from curry's online between now and the end of November. It will only work if you haven't had apple TV before (you need to use your apple I'd to sign in so limited options for creating new ones I think).

No minimum spend so even printer paer for £1.99 should be included. Just click and collect. No really a gift, but nice to have over the winter.

Thanks for the Elemis bargain.

Start Rite have a 23% discount today if anyone has little ones to buy shoes for. Sign up to the newsletter and they will email you a 15% off code which stacks. I used an email address which I'd used previously but had unsubscribed from and it still worked, they just sent me an email checking I wanted to re-subscribe then sent the discount code after I had confirmed.

I ended up with a 3rd off 2 pairs for my youngest who has wide feet and is difficult to buy for.

SBAM · 07/11/2022 09:54

@Soscrewed if she likes embroidery or cross stitch there’s books and kits of Winnie the Pooh or princess designs (check Amazon). Or often aldi and hobbycraft have Disney fabrics/fat quarters if she likes making quilts, or sewing small home items.

For general sewing gifts, glass headed pins are nice, fun labels are a big thing if she’s into garment sewing - try looking up Kylie and the Machine, or take a look on Etsy. Dutch label shop do custom ones so you could make her her own set of labels.
sewmesunshine.co.uk Has a sewing gifts section.

Does anyone know if Dryrobe ever do Black Friday? Or of a discount? This is a treat for me. Just drowned myself at DS' rugby and would like to keep my legs dry next time!

I've bought a dry robe before with a discount, think it was through a triathlon site rather than directly. Most of them have regular codes via email, I seem to get them from mytriathlon about once a week. Unfortunately can't see where I bought them from before as it was a couple of years ago.

Are there any other codes for the spidery other than the 10% not sure my husband would appreciate it so don't want to spend £26.

Thanks.

@Reastie the one with the codes for the spidery?

Meant to say it is this Instant pot with £40 off already , DH wanted an air fryer and I wanted a slow cooker so hopefully onto a winner!

Has anyone seen large bin liners that aren't black. Strange request but I have two bean bags to wrap.

Thanks

Soscrewed · 07/11/2022 10:07

@SBAM labels!!! Perfect. She makes loads of clothes for my children so I think they would all love that. Brilliant. Thanks. I love this thread for ideas.

Youngest is ill today so sorry if I am spamming with random bargains. This book called absurd hypothetical questions: serious scientific answers to absurd hypothetical questions is very well reviewed and I think would suit as a gift for former scientists like my DM. It's £3.99 today absurd science book looks good and not a junky gimmick.

dancemom · 07/11/2022 10:09

The stacking chairs game that was mentioned on previous threads, is this too young for teenage boys? Or is it for all ages?

Can anyone recommend a site where you can design photo gifts directly rather than my buying a frame then printing separately? I want to do some multi aperture ones but need it to be good quality both in terms
of framing and the prints. Thanks in advance!

Also any ideas for my FIL who is literally impossible. Has everything he could ever want, is minimalist and hates clutter, doesn’t drink, doesn’t eat anything unhealthy, hates cooking and has no hobbies. He likes… nuts and very niche luxe japanese clothing shops like Clutch Cafe. I’m going to get him a nice framed family photo but any other ideas appreciated!

We found out the place the local artists used. Had a multi aperture photo printed, framed, and mounted beautifully for about £60. Not cheap but definitely better value than anything we've bought from a website.

@redjoker
thank you for the Elemis heads up. DD loves it and I was looking for something to go with her sleep Ts. I thin I just squeaked in before it closed !

Lurleene · 07/11/2022 10:17

@dancemom I bought the chairs game in a charity shop last week. DS and his friend had great fun playing it. They are both 17.

dancemom · 07/11/2022 10:18

Thanks @Lurleene

Anyone seen it reduced anywhere?

Soscrewed · 07/11/2022 10:19

Sylvanian Families - Marshmallow Mouse Family here £9.99.

Also a whole bluey family for £9 for 4 figured on amazon. If I move away to copy the link I'll lose this message as my phone is being a pest. Quite a few lego deals including advent calanders on amazon according to camel camel camel.

Not bin liners, but I have used paper disposable party tablecloths in the past to similar effect.

Like this paper one from John Lewis
