DD wants the Xmas bedding putting on today, and I’ve got an Xmas plate that has gone on display this morning. I’ll be going up in the loft for a couple of subtle things today.
‘Anyone else ?

My trees (yes, I have two!) have remained assembled in the garage since last year. Do I don't have to faff with the colour coded branches this year. Takes ages!

I made my own wreath last year too and that has been hanging up in the garage too. I have been adding more bits to it recently.

Can't wait to get properly going.

Well, that's completely different! You're not loving I. Your holiday clothes, or eating hotel food until you go away! You're looking g forward to it, just like looking forward to Christmas without having to put decorations up early.

Ahh, but you've got to sort your passport, buy/sort your holiday clothes, look into sightseeing and activities...And just generally be excited about it! ]Xmas Grin

Started on 1st nov....otherwise wont be finnished for 1st Dec. I totally turn my sons downstairs room into a winter christmas wonderland. He died age 8 , five years ago, so its a tribute we do to him every year. Couldn't have decorations when he was alive, he was too ill and his room was basically a hospital ward, so we go all out for him at christmas now. Hopefully, he will see it from heaven and love it ❤

SnowJamz · 03/11/2022 14:41

@Malleus123 I’m so sorry for your loss.

I’m sure your Son will love it. ❤ Do you have a set theme or add different things each year? 😊

Malleus123 · 03/11/2022 14:57

@SnowJamz thankyou..we do it differently each year...this year is themed around santas office...so table with typewriter, writing out his naughty nice list, big mailbox for our nieces and nephews to post their letters to santa...lots of lighted trees and snow with elves playing, making toys etc. And santas rocking chair, complete with boots, hat , blanket, spectacles, etc, waiting for him to come home. Nieces etc love it, they think he actually comes to his office to prepare for christmas when we are all asleep x

SnowJamz · 03/11/2022 15:00

@Malleus123 Wow that sounds wonderful! Such a fantastic theme and great that your nieces and nephews can join in. You sound very creative 😃

pumpkinscoop · 03/11/2022 15:09

Each to their own, but mid December here and down by NYE. I'd be sick to death of it all by Christmas if we had decorations, films, music etc happening from now.

Malleus123 · 03/11/2022 18:36

Thanks @SnowJamz ...we love Christmas, and plan his room throughout the year

Openmouthinsertfood · 03/11/2022 20:13

So sorry for your loss Malleus123. Flowers What you are doing to honour your son's memory is amazing. It's lovely it involves nieces and nephews so keeps his memory alive for them too. Have a wonderful Christmas. Xmas Smile

Crossback · 03/11/2022 21:17

Ah that actually sounds lovely @Malleus123. I hope you have a wonderful time and spend lots of time enjoying it with your nieces and nephews. Your son will be right there with you

MegaClutterSlut · 04/11/2022 08:32

I've just bought a big grinch from primark and a light up gonk that went straight on my sideboard much to dhs disgust 😊

mondaytosunday · 04/11/2022 09:15

I love Christmas and decorating but not until December. I'd get sick of it if I put them up now, and it wouldn't feel special.
After Christmas I last til New Years but then I want it all gone.

ListenLinda · 04/11/2022 09:30

Not yet, but I have already started watching the Christmad specials on Food Network!
I’m aiming for up on the night of the 2nd, so when the kids come downstairs on the morning of the 3rd it’s all ready, then we are going for Breakfast with Santa that morning. Can’t wait!

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 04/11/2022 09:37

@Malleus123 that sounds wonderful…I’m so very sorry for your loss but it’s a lovely tribute to your son ❤️

I've got a wintery wax melt burning. That's it until December.
Don't get why anyone would decorate now, it's not even bonfire night yet! Autumn decor definitely but having it up for that long seems ridiculous. It's as bad as the shops trying to flog Christmas tat already.
It's sad to be unable to enjoy any anticipation for a special time of year and appreciate the seasons as they are without filling your house with commercialised rubbish.

I agree.

We decorate around mid December and keep up until Twelfth Night. That's long enough!

What about all those people that book holidays for next year? Are they not as good when they come round as you booked them so early?

Totally different.

Do you sit around your house in your bikini and sunglasses covered in suncream for 2 months before your holiday to make it better? Or do you get on with normal life?

That's a more equivalent analogy.

Christmaspumpkinseeds · 04/11/2022 11:12

What colour are people thinking of decorating their trees this year?

Ihavedogs · 04/11/2022 15:52

Christmaspumpkinseeds · 04/11/2022 11:12

What colour are people thinking of decorating their trees this year?

The same as last year 🤣

Red, copper, glass and crystal.

Ethelswith · 04/11/2022 16:02

Christmaspumpkinseeds · 04/11/2022 11:12

What colour are people thinking of decorating their trees this year?

Eclectic - same as always

We add baubles each year - bought on holiday or to mark an event, or to fit in with a hobby or achievement, or fad or whatever.

So it's always a glorious celebration of us
