DD wants the Xmas bedding putting on today, and I’ve got an Xmas plate that has gone on display this morning. I’ll be going up in the loft for a couple of subtle things today.
‘Anyone else ?

I’m prepared to be ridiculed. Candle is lit

Looks like it’s just me then !
Tonight I will be downloading those American Xmas films, you know the ones where he /she goes home for Xmas from their high flying job in the city, gets snowed in and falls back in love with their beau from high school.

Hallmark channel op! This year they have 40 new ones. Then there is lifetimes 20. Get on board. They started last weekend your late😄.
just watching one of them ‘catering Christmas’

westthroughthewhitleywood · 01/11/2022 11:55

I've got a wintery wax melt burning. That's it until December.
Don't get why anyone would decorate now, it's not even bonfire night yet! Autumn decor definitely but having it up for that long seems ridiculous. It's as bad as the shops trying to flog Christmas tat already.
It's sad to be unable to enjoy any anticipation for a special time of year and appreciate the seasons as they are without filling your house with commercialised rubbish.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 01/11/2022 11:56

Yep! DDs Xmas bedding is on and we had a bit of Mariah this morning, heaven!

Bluesheep8 · 01/11/2022 12:11

A week before Christmas for me and everything taken down the day after Boxing Day.

Same

People have said I’m a grinch for feeling this way but it’s completely the opposite. I absolutely love Christmas but part of that is because it’s a special time-it really spoils it for me to have it going on too long.
They also mock me for preferring a picture advent calendar to an expensive beauty one .

Agree! I love Christmas and would happily watch a hallmark Xmas movie right now, but no decorations yet! I'd be fed up of it by Dec 1st. It takes away the magic and specialness of it all.

Novemberhater · 01/11/2022 12:17

Two days before Christmas and everything down by New Year. I can't stand the long drawn out run up. I hate seeing Christmas decorations up in November.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 01/11/2022 12:35

Decorations won't be up until the last weekend in November. But I have had the Christmas music on this morning, and am watching the muppet's Christmas carol with littlest dd now

1994girl · 01/11/2022 12:36

Are you mad? Far too early.

Ihavedogs · 01/11/2022 12:55

Far too early in my opinion.

Nothing really Christmassy happens here until after Remembrance Sunday, then bring it on in terms of films, Christmas books and scented candles. The door wreath may go up on 1st December, but nothing else until the tree goes up. As it is a pot grown tree it will not be going up until mid December. Decorations stay up until 12th night unless the tree is showing signs of being too warm. I have managed to keep this tree alive for 4 years 😃

Creameggs223 · 01/11/2022 13:00

I'd be sick of the sight of them come December and my dd would think Christmas is sooner than it is so think I'll wait till its actually Christmas.

mimbleandlittlemy · 01/11/2022 13:03

Sunday before Christmas, which this year will be 18th and down on Twelfth Night. I'm not a shop needing to sell Christmas to people so they spend money, so no need to have decorations up weeks in advance.

kavalkada · 01/11/2022 13:04

I will not do anything before December the 1st, but I have started with pre christmas movies (Sleepless in Seattle, Groundhog day, The Holiday, Die Hard) and I took out my christmas cups.
In the meantime I make lists (lot of them).

micedontpaint · 01/11/2022 14:57

Mariah Carey puts her tree up in October.

Paradisehunter · 01/11/2022 19:01

I’ve got a festive tea light scene out and lit up

AuntieStella · 01/11/2022 19:10

I don't put any decorations up until after a family December birthday, and then they stay up until Twelfth Night.

Each to their own, but I think before Advent Sunday is too early, and before Remembrance Day is insanely early. But before Bonfire Night? Words fail me!!

Openmouthinsertfood · 01/11/2022 19:51

What about all those people that book holidays for next year? Are they not as good when they come round as you booked them so early?

Franticbutterfly · 01/11/2022 20:58

1st December in our house any earlier and we get sick of it all before 12th night.

Hbh17 · 01/11/2022 21:05

There are 12 days of Christmas, so the tree should go up on 24th December and come down on Twelfth Night - if you have one. Ditto with any greenery in the house. All other types of decorations etc are unnecessary.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 01/11/2022 21:08

Last weekend in November for us, it takes me days to do and I like to have it sorted for the start of December as we have things on every weekend and work all week.

Have done 80% of the shopping already too 🎄

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/11/2022 21:08

Nothing before 1st December here - that’s because I love Christmas and like it to feel fresh and special, not gathering dust for weeks. And none of it comes down until 6th January. Real tree doesn’t go up until mid December, but a small potted one with lights, goes outside the front door on the 1st.

VestaTilley · 02/11/2022 06:47

No. Because it’s NOVEMBER. Get a grip.

PurBal · 02/11/2022 07:11

Advent starts early this year. As early as it possibly can. An extra 6 days is enough for me thanks.

AlwaysLatte · 02/11/2022 07:12

I've got all the Christmas curtains up, and the Santa garden cushions and reindeer BBQ cover are out. All the neighbours are in their matching pyjamas. I've put the Brussels sprouts on and I'm all ready. Only 53 days to go!!

Just settling down to watch the Weather Forecast Christmas special. Happy Christmas everyone!! 🎄

MissPoldark · 02/11/2022 07:23

I can’t get worked up about what anyone wants to do in their own home, if you want dusty decorations that you’re sick of the sight of by 24th December then go for it.
what I do object to is the same people trying to convince the rest of us that Christmas is suddenly over on 27th December.

Its like a symptom of the modern day short attention span and need for instant gratification. People can’t seem to able to wait to get to the ‘next thing’.
