DD wants the Xmas bedding putting on today, and I’ve got an Xmas plate that has gone on display this morning. I’ll be going up in the loft for a couple of subtle things today.
‘Anyone else ?

@Crapshopper , I like the picture Advent calendars too - always treat myself to one. It partly dates back to never having one as a kid - when there were only little-picture ones anyway.

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 02/11/2022 08:48

Going to get the tree the 18th as that’s when the Christmas tree farm opens and I wanna choose the best tree, will stand in bucket of water until the following week. When we will put it up along with the lights

Titsflyingsouth · 02/11/2022 10:03

Nope. 1st Dec for me. If it's up for months, it stops being special imo....

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 02/11/2022 10:13

I have had my 100 sleep countdown chalkboard out since September the 16th 😂

I do have a santa sitting on my mantlepiece but that's only because I picked it up the other day when shopping and not found it a home yet

Ambertonix · 02/11/2022 12:43

No decs or anything out yet but i did start watching cheesy christmas movies. Last nights pick was Christmas Perfection which i found last year on youtube and loved. It is about a girl who has a fantasy about an Irish Christmas and has a whole ornamental village set up complete with post office, pub etc. LOVE IT! I also lit my first votive candles. Not very posh ones but still nice. Yankee candle Christmas Cookie and my whole room smelt delicious.

WimbyAce · 02/11/2022 14:02

Too early! Still got the Halloween decs up. We normally do 1st week of December.

ShortColdandGrey · 02/11/2022 14:14

1st of December for our decorations but the songs and films are already on. My daughter has asked for the Halloween decorations to stay up for the rest of the week.

CakeCrumbs44 · 02/11/2022 16:37

Usually we do it the second weekend of December, but I am away that weekend so will probably be the weekend of the 17th/18th

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 02/11/2022 20:01

I haven’t actually put anything ‘out’ but I bought a lovely polar bear the other week with the intention of him being part of a Christmas windowsill display…but he’s too nice to pack away so he’s out, albeit hidden among the houseplants 🙈😂

MistyGreenAndBlue · 02/11/2022 20:35

No
But I'm planning. DH would say "plotting" 😂
Rubs hands together in glee

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 02/11/2022 20:38

I'm not putting decs up till 1st December but thinking about Xmas bedding at weekend so it gets some use. DD has been wearing her Xmas pjs all year lol

What about all those people that book holidays for next year? Are they not as good when they come round as you booked them so early?

Well, that's completely different! You're not loving I. Your holiday clothes, or eating hotel food until you go away! You're looking g forward to it, just like looking forward to Christmas without having to put decorations up early.

OrangePomander · 03/11/2022 00:58

If I’m super-organised I’ll get decorations up by around the 20th Dec, but it’s more likely to be Christmas Eve. Bonus tip is that if you leave it that late you can get a bargain tree, my best purchase was a seriously impressive Nordmann fir for £1.

A week before Christmas for me and everything taken down the day after Boxing Day.

Same

Yep same here too. DS birthday is 2nd week of dec. Mine is 1st week. No Xmas crap until after the birthdays inside the house.

We do put our lights up first weekend of dec outside and the outdoor decorations though.

lightand · 03/11/2022 06:15

No. But I did open the pot pourri that was a christmas presnt from last christmas. I wouldnt have done as it has that christmas smell. But I was running out of anything else.
Does that count?! Not really!

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 03/11/2022 06:32

No op, I will probably activate Xmas bedding and plates on 1st December.
But we do decks and trees mid December, however i go longer on the other side of Xmas.
Sometimes we keep them up all through January. I love the miss haviashsm Vibe.

Raindancer411 · 03/11/2022 06:37

Mine will go up mid to end of this month once the husband finishes his job and is on leave before starting his new job. He had no excuse to not help me do it this year 😂

CantSleepCountingSheep · 03/11/2022 06:38

No!

Christmaspumpkinseeds · 03/11/2022 06:40

I usually start mid - late November. I'm way behind on everything this year though after moving house recently. I didnt manage to get halloween decorations out at all.

The first thing I start with will be fairy lights and similar. I love having them around for the dark gloomy days.

We watched Elf on tuesday, the Grinch yesterday and will put on Holidate today.

lurchermummy · 03/11/2022 06:49

Christ no. Christmas is starting to take over the whole of Autumn. If you start too early everyone gets Christmas burn out.

Oaktree1952 · 03/11/2022 06:51

Just out of curiosity if you put them up so early when do you taken them down? Do you get fed up by Boxing Day or do you wait until January?

FourChimneys · 03/11/2022 06:52

When the DC were small we used to put the decorations up on the day they broke up from school. We had Christmas music on and some treats to eat. It was a tradition they loved. There were decorations at school so they didn't miss out earlier.

Mine go up mid to late November and stay up until after the kids go back to school in January. Absolutely dont get fed up of them, always so disappointed that xmas is over and they have to come down.

PinkButtercups · 03/11/2022 07:05

No, doing it next weekend.

DS has a Santa visit booked in for the 19th November so want it done by then. Tbh it usually is but I'll make sure I do it a bit earlier as due in December but because they're twins could arrive before so want it done for DS. Also, if takes ages. My tree takes a day alone!

Nope! I love looking at all the lights. We take it down 6th January.
