Breakfast Christmas Day?

What are you planning or usually have?

I'm thinking pastries washed down with Bucks Fizz.

OP posts:
MovinOnUp · 10/10/2022 12:20

I buy bags of frozen breakfast pastries from Tesco and whack them in the oven before grabbing my bin bag and sitting down to watch the children open their gifts.

OverTheHillAndDownTotherSide · 10/10/2022 12:21

Nothing. Waste of tummy space. We eat dinner at about 4pm and pudding at about 8pm.

Daisychainsx · 10/10/2022 12:30

We have pastries too! We all sit together and have breakfast and bucks fizz before opening presents (obviously the kids get their santa gifts as soon as they get up, but everything else is left until later). It's one of my favourite parts of the day.
We used to do a cooked breakfast but everyone was so full after that we ended up having dinner really late, and no room for dessert!

AuntieMarys · 10/10/2022 12:30

Porridge as usual for me. We go out walking about 10... pub for a couple of drinks then home to shower about 1.30.
Bottle of fizz and nibbles...we eat out about 4

ShortColdandGrey · 10/10/2022 12:34

Christmas breakfast is our favourite bit. Loads of crusty rolls, salami, cheese, paté, salmon, and anything else people fancy. It is more a brunch than breakfast as we have a late dinner. You are also allowed to eat some chocolate while the rolls are in the oven.

wibblewobbleball · 10/10/2022 12:41

Eggs Benedict with some of the Christmas ham, which I cook Christmas Eve. Buck's Fizz with proper orange juice is also essential.

GettingStuffed · 10/10/2022 12:42

We have 2, the first is mince pies and tea/coffee whilst opening the presents. Then about 11 we have smoked salmon or bacon with scrambled eggs and buck's fizz/cava/orange juice depending on age/preference.

kellj · 10/10/2022 12:43

Full english for us nice and early.

chatterbox95 · 10/10/2022 12:44

A chocolate Santa from our stockings while we walk down the stairs lol then a slice of toast between the kids Santa presents and opening presents under the tree. If I've made cocktail sausages on Christmas Eve then a sausage bap 😋

Crosswithlifeatm · 10/10/2022 12:47

Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs around 9.30.Then I can start on the prosecco.Pressie opening at 11ish,so chocies to nibble then late lunch at 3 ish which with pauses between courses goes on for the evening.

RosieRainbow1986 · 10/10/2022 12:53

We have bacon and brie croissants with cranberry sauce and some bucks fizz or champagne! :-)

Arenanewbie · 10/10/2022 12:54

We do festive creamy porridge with blueberries for breakfast, then tea/ orange juice/ coffee with pastries.

Blimey, reading some of these posts makes me feel like a proper light-weight. If I had alcohol at breakfast time (or anytime apart from the evening tbh) I'd be in bed the rest of the day asleep😂
You are not alone @BloodyHellKen We usually do lunch about 2-3 pm and then brisk walk after, otherwise DH will be fast asleep by 6pm and I will be yearning non stop. Main alcohol consumption happens in the evening accompanied by cheese and other bits while watching Strictly.

muchprefersummer · 10/10/2022 12:56

Muffins with smoked salmon and scrambled egg alongside hot croissants and pain-au-chocolates all washed down with Buck's Fizz.

xogossipgirlxo · 10/10/2022 13:24

Coffee first, then two slices of toast with something as houmous, gouda, hard-boiled egg etc. Slice of cake if still hungry 😂No alcohol, I don't take well early starts.

Ladymama12 · 10/10/2022 14:38

I don't do the same every ye i like to change it. About 5 yeaes ago i drank a bit too much prosecco while opening stockings in the morning and burnt my habd making fried toast 😆 since then i went for the safe option pastries however after reading all the wonderful comments im this year ill going to do @RosieRainbow1986 brie and bacon croissants sound perfect!!! I don't drink anymore so its fine 😂🥓🍻

AlternativelyWired · 10/10/2022 15:06

Fried potato butties and a cup of tea. The dc usually have chocolate and sweets. This year I might do things a little different.

CocktailNapkin · 10/10/2022 15:07

Last few years Ive done the cranberry and orange rolls from smitten kitchen, but Im liking the look of these Nigella muffins to do something different this year. We also typically have scrambled eggs, bacon, and some fruit along with champagne and good coffee mid morning. Tend to eat quite late, about 6pm, so its gotta last until then!

MsSquiz · 10/10/2022 15:14

We usually have a cup of tea/coffee when opening presents, then pastries or cereal and yoghurt with another cuppa or Buck's Fizz.

We have lunch at 1 and breakfast around 7:30 so it works out ok.

This year we'll have a 3 year old and 8 month old, and will be cooking lunch for 9 of us so I imagine I'll be consuming more Buck's Fizz than usual!

DeadbeatYoda · 10/10/2022 19:24

Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on sourdough. Then we have lunch at around 3.

FelixDoublyDelicious · 10/10/2022 19:40

I don't know how you eat all of that plus dinner - and not competetive eating bollocks either😁

Orange93 · 10/10/2022 19:47

We usually have smoked salmon and eggs on toast

Autumnleavesandhotchocolate · 10/10/2022 19:52

Rowgtfc72 · 10/10/2022 09:48

I only get Christmas day off so we don't go to any fuss. Bacon butties for breakfast, pizza for dinner, picky bits and salad for tea.
But you have to start with bacon butties ( brown sauce of course!)

That honestly sound like heaven! I keep trying to encourage my lot to have a takeaway type affair for Christmas lunch. So we can all just laze around and enjoy the day. But there are no takers unfortunately. I don't even do the cooking, so I don't know why I'm so bothered.

Confundo · 10/10/2022 20:00

French toast made with brioche or challah with caramelised bananas and maple syrup. Also have Bellinis with a sprig of thyme either with breakfast or while opening presents (depends on when dog has been walked!).

ShowOfHands · 10/10/2022 20:02

We take it in turns to choose. DH always wants a cooked breakfast, DS likes cereal and crumpets and DD likes fruit salad and Nigella's muffins. I usually choose pastries and fruit salad. We always have a choice of fruit juices, teas and coffee. All to the soundtrack of Junior Choice 🙂

Devo1818 · 10/10/2022 20:24

Sourdough toast, real butter and the fanciest marmalade I can find. Kids have those selection pack cereals. With Christmas blend coffee and some lovely fruit juices. Will probably do some of those freezer to oven pastries too.
