What are you planning or usually have?

I'm thinking pastries washed down with Bucks Fizz.

I only get Christmas day off so we don't go to any fuss. Bacon butties for breakfast, pizza for dinner, picky bits and salad for tea.
But you have to start with bacon butties ( brown sauce of course!)

Dillidilly · 10/10/2022 10:08

Toasted slices of panettone with raspberries, greek yoghurt and dusted with icing sugar.
Something we call sultans fizz (prosecco and pomegranate juice), which I thought was a 'thing' but on googling just now, could find no reference lol!

This year, I'm hoping one adult DD will be bringing homemade cinnamon rolls to have as a change.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 10/10/2022 10:19

Wait........there are people who dont just have the contents of a selection box for breakfast.

Classy folk 😁

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 10/10/2022 10:24

We usually have smoked salmon & scrambled egg bagels with Buck’s Fizz/orange juice. This year I’m thinking of having croissants etc while we open presents as I have 3 teens and they emerge quite late Christmas morning.

PinotPony · 10/10/2022 10:29

Another vote for Bucks Fizz with eggs and salmon. Caviar to keep my mum happy.

Pheasantpluckersunite86 · 10/10/2022 10:32

Marmite on toast or Nigella’s Christmas muffins

Dillidilly · 10/10/2022 10:33

Oooh good call @Pheasantpluckersunite86 I'd forgotten Nigella's Christmas muffins!

weathervane1 · 10/10/2022 10:34

Always eggs Benedict, Buck's Fizz and a walk.

FallHappy1 · 10/10/2022 10:35

I make a sausage and egg bake and a French toast bake. I usually get up before everyone else so will bung in the oven first thing and by the time the kids have woken up and opened their gifts etc it's ready and everyone just helps themselves.
DM and SD will come over to help themselves to the breakfast and if i have time I try and pop some over to DSis and her H and DS.
Orange juice for the kids and bucks fizz for the adults.

Marmite on toast or Nigella’s Christmas muffins

We have nigellas Christmas muffins. You can make in advance, freeze them then get them out the night before to defrost. Then 10 minutes in the oven to warm in the morning

DinaofCloud9 · 10/10/2022 10:37

Chocolate

somebody2lava · 10/10/2022 10:38

I do sausage and bacon butties for the adults and pancakes or waffles for the kids. Last year I added a mixed berry and grape bowl with chocolate dip that was a big hit. Washed down with Buck's Fizz.

Tisfortired · 10/10/2022 10:39

Bacon sandwiches, pastries and pancakes here. I don’t have the stomach for Buck’s Fizz that early in the morning but will put on a nice pot of coffee and have a nice bottle of fresh oj 😊

SatinHeart · 10/10/2022 10:42

Pork pie (I think it's a midlands thing?)

Otherwise panettone

We've never really done a sit down breakfast at Christmas as everyone's always busy with presents and we have xmas lunch quite early.

NoDairyNoProblem · 10/10/2022 10:42

It has to be white sourdough bacon sandwiches after any stocking chocolate already started in bed 🤣

Pootles34 · 10/10/2022 10:42

Ah I was thinking of doing Nigella's Christmas muffins - are they as nice as they sound?

Nadal · 10/10/2022 10:43

Freshly baked pain au chocolate and champagne

Sammilouwho · 10/10/2022 10:43

A selection box. That's my Christmas Day breakfast and yes I will pass that onto my children where they can also have chocolate for breakfast on that one day a year 😂

EmmaStone · 10/10/2022 10:43

Eggs Benedict with the Christmas Eve ham (or others have smoked salmon) and fruit salad. This is after DH and I have done a Christmas morning jog. Once breakfast is finished, we do gifts. It all sounds a little too wholesome, but is purely because otherwise we wouldn't get much movement in the day, and then we'd both not have enough room for Christmas lunch! And life's so busy, fitting in exercise can fall by the wayside, at least on Xmas Day, no-one needs lifts anywhere!

bravelittletiger · 10/10/2022 10:44

We always have smoked salmon for breakfast with Buck's Fizz and coffee. Either with scrambled egg, on bagels with cream cheese, on blinis with crème fraiche and dill...

Couldn't imagine Christmas Day without smoked salmon!!

lannistunut · 10/10/2022 10:48

DH makes something (the day before so there is no cooking in the morning), sometimes cinnamon swirls, sometimes babka, sometimes croissants. Plus nice cereal, OJ, stewed fruit, yogurt.

Babka is the best one I think: www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/chocolate_babka_63524

Crikeyalmighty · 10/10/2022 10:53

Crumpets and pastries and fresh squeezed orange juice

Smoked salmon type starter with salad at 2ish

Dinner at 5.30

I switched it a few years ago and much prefer dinner in the evening

Stompythedinosaur · 10/10/2022 10:55

We have warm croissants (Tesco's finest ones are fine imo) and bacon sandwiches. The DC supplement this with chocs from their stocking.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 10/10/2022 10:59

For me, generally smoked salmon blinis, Bucks Fizz, scrambled and/or poached eggs and pastries.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 10/10/2022 11:00

I think I'll try Nigella's muffins this year.
