What are you planning or usually have?

I'm thinking pastries washed down with Bucks Fizz.

OP posts:

Usually bacon sandwiches but I'm tempted by the idea of smoked salmon eggs benedict!

With a Baileys coffee and inevitably some chocolate 🙂

MiniDinosaur · 10/10/2022 11:07

Bagels with smoked salmon & bucks fizz, then chocolate!

PoshHorseyBird · 10/10/2022 11:07

We usually just have toast or something light. Then take our dog out for a family walk. Then open presents when we're back home. Roast dinner is usually at lunchtime then we know how much room we've got left in the afternoon/evening for snacks 🤣

DH makes something (the day before so there is no cooking in the morning), sometimes cinnamon swirls, sometimes babka, sometimes croissants. Plus nice cereal, OJ, stewed fruit, yogurt.

Babka is the best one I think: www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/chocolate_babka_63524

That chocolate babka looks really good, might have to try that one.

We have toasted brioche with apricot jam and tinned grapefruit. Pork pie is traditional in the West Midlands.

NotLactoseFree · 10/10/2022 11:14

With the sheer amount of food consumed at Christmas, I'm always amazed by the idea of a big breakfast. We usually just throw some pastries in the oven and I've been known to have mince pies for breakfast. The thought of cooking a big breakfast when I"m cooking a bit christmas meal is extraordinarily unappealing.

makingmyway10 · 10/10/2022 11:14

We have croissants with champagne . When my DDs were small I would make them Christmas crumpets and hot chocolate 😊Now they are old enough to enjoy champagne with us.
I might do smoked salmon and bagels as well this year . We tend not to have a huge breakfast as we eat Christmas Dinner at 2ish and spend the morning grazing on chocolates and mince pies 😁
We have cheese and port , sandwiches and puddings in the evening so really don’t need a large breakfast.
oh this thread us making me excited for Christmas morning! Thank you Op!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 10/10/2022 11:15

Eggs Benedict and then full Xmas dinner at about 3pm ish.

gogohmm · 10/10/2022 11:15

Chocolate of course Grin.

Tend to bake pain au chocolat (the frozen ones from Waitrose are good) and sometimes I bake cranberry and orange bagels from scratch

Phos · 10/10/2022 11:17

Pastries or bacon sandwich with Buck’s Fizz for us and orange juice or hot chocolate for little one

diddl · 10/10/2022 11:27

Baked breaded Camembert.

BuffyFanForever · 10/10/2022 11:36

My parents never let us eat breakfast on Christmas Day as they said we ate enough during Christmas lunch (at 3pm!) so excited to now as an adult with my own children actually have a special breakfast for the first time. We’re still seeing them at Christmas but they can’t control us having breakfast now! Also my toddlers without breakfast or lunch essentially would be a right nightmare! Thinking pancakes!

inappropriateraspberry · 10/10/2022 11:37

Usually scrambled eggs with smoked salmon.

mondaytosunday · 10/10/2022 11:37

French toast with bacon and maple syrup. We eat Christmas dinner around 4pm so need to sustain us til then!

Bollindger · 10/10/2022 11:49

Mum always had the Turkey on by 9, so we would have plates of hot fresh sausage rolls, that you could take as you walked past the breakfast bar, I still do this every year, and we always do a meal out Christmas Eve, no cooking at all the day before. Then Christmas day, lunch is about 3 ish and you just pick afterwards,

Lyricallie · 10/10/2022 11:50

We are usually a bit tight for time with mass at 10am so when we get back it's rolls and filling of choice e.g. square sausage, fried egg, bacon. Then chocolate selection boxes lol.

Pleiades2020 · 10/10/2022 11:52

Breakfast Cerial and a mug of tea - plenty to eat later on in the day.

everywhichway · 10/10/2022 11:54

PinotPony · 10/10/2022 10:29

Another vote for Bucks Fizz with eggs and salmon. Caviar to keep my mum happy.

....and would that be a Candlelit Breakfast for your mum @PinotPony ?

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 10/10/2022 11:57

Pastries and fruit juice - we have to drive to visit my mum.

courgettigreensadwater · 10/10/2022 12:04

I have a huge gammon/ham joint that I put on when we go to bed on Christmas Eve which we then have sandwiches with fresh bread and butter for breakfast 😋

RosieLemonadeAndSugar · 10/10/2022 12:07

Pastries, the just roll one's, fruit, bucks fizz or OJ on its own for the kids.

They're usually eating chocolate / sweets by 9am too!

CrimsonThunder · 10/10/2022 12:08

Pulla Bread - fresh with butter or toasted with butter. Skillingsboller (made the day before and reheated) and a big bowl of fruit salad.

Fresh juice and freshly brewed Sumatran Tiger Mountain Coffee.

Then a light lunch of (veggie) pigs in blanket butties before the main meal in the early evening.

MaggieMagpie357 · 10/10/2022 12:08

"Washed down" 🤮

ILoveGroot · 10/10/2022 12:15

We usually have lebkuchen in bed with cups of tea when opening stockings. Then it varies between Christmas Krispy Kreme doughnuts, ham and egg muffins, or homemade Christmas muffins.

Or just chocolate and mince pies!

ShaunaTheSheep · 10/10/2022 12:19

MaggieMagpie357 · 10/10/2022 12:08

"Washed down" 🤮

I had the same thought Wink

Waitrose bake at home pastries, then bacon sandwiches if we've been open-air swimming.
