Love this thread already, I have birthdays to buy for in the next few months as well as Xmas so will be super helpful!
I think we have committed to buying a Switch this Christmas, which I’m fairly clueless about. Anyone know if any good deals are likely to appear later in the year? I can get one for £260 with free game at the moment and that’s the best I can find?

I got a good deal on mine from Very last year. I was worried I would need to sign up for a credit card or something but nothing.

Joining 😊

If anyone is looking for a styling head for an older child, this is the cheapest I can find I believe its £15 posted in sterling (or €20). I've ordered one for my daughter:

DESOMI Soft 100% Synthetic Hair Hairdressing Head 26-28 Inches, Professional Soft Training Heads, Doll Head for Practising Hairstyles with Holder + DIY Hair Hairstyles Set (Ombre) amzn.eu/d/c58XDgh

Can you lovely people please tell me what the Black Friday deals are like for Lego? Have you got any really good Lego bargains in the past and where from?

I'd like to know this too. Both my DS and my DH have lego on their Christmas lists, it's so expensive that I've been holding out to see if they do any great black Friday deals in store. (Although my back up plan is I believe the Lego store has a 90 day return window, so to protect me from if it goes out of stock I may buy one soon and then return if they do a sale).

Disneyland2022 · 23/09/2022 21:14

There’s Lego said to be included in the sainsburys toy sale which starts 12th October. Full lists can be found on ‘hot uk deals’

sorry can’t link x

tiggergoesbounce · 24/09/2022 19:43

Hot deals uk has a free gift from smyth toys if you spend over £25.

Not sure what the activities prizes are but if you are planning on lego, now may be the time.

Sorry, free lego gift if you spend £25 or more on lego
Missed the most important bit. The lego bit

psuedocream3 · 25/09/2022 07:58

@Fivemoreminutes1 Amazon usually price match the 3 for 2 offers which work out around 33% off. I would keep a close eye on Amazon anyway as they often have random good offers. I think most of the Lego I have bought the kids have been around 50%+ off and then used the discount codes to get an extra £10/£7/£5 off my order. And check 'other sellers', I bought the Minecraft Lego bee set for £6.00 brand new delivered which is RRP £18.00.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 25/09/2022 16:54

@psuedocream3 Thanks, I’ll hold out till then!

Just wanted to clarify on this one
There a few lego sets as the surprise gifts but it is mainly sports and leisure activities being given away. Which is great too if you are already buying the lego but not if you are buying lego and expecting a free set because that's unlikely.
The picture shows the amount of each prize being given away.

You do what you want to do and leave other to what they want to do 🙄 You don't know anybody else's circumstances- perhaps they don't buy toys year round for their children so like to get them what they want for Christmas. Other people may buy a few things that they know their child will enjoy and play with for years to come.

psuedocream3 · 28/09/2022 10:24

@Kentgirl2525 Should have made your own thread on AIBU, only as we don't seem to have a whingers board.

@Kentgirl2525 I think you're on the wrong thread 🤷‍♀️

LemonFrosting · 28/09/2022 10:30

I buy alot of my sons present second hand from charity shops and ebay.
He's only 4 so doesn't have pocket money to donate to charity like you have suggested.
We donate presents at Christmas time anyway which he helps to choose and also money throughout the year. I also do voluntary work too.
Plastic tat-not everybody buys plastic toys and not everybody throws them away. I certainly donate them to charity shops and the local nursery. My son gets alot of books as he really enjoys them. Also days out.

Calm down @Kentgirl2525 not everybody is as awful as you think they are.
