Wreck if he starts to get bald patches, get his thyroid checked. Our old cat chewed her back legs and tummy fur off before we did. Cheep remedy of feline thyroxine and gardening gloves or cheese to get them in

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 10/03/2022 14:51

Cheap, obvs not🐥 cheep 🤦‍♀️

Bugger it, I've been up since 4.

I need a 🍻 😹

CrazyBaubles · 10/03/2022 15:00

Wreck it's so frustrating isn't it? My DH knows exactly how to annoy me. He was very clearly irritated so he huffed and puffed and just generally walked around like a mardy arse but didn't actually say anything until I asked what the problem was. It infuriates me - just bloody say directly what has annoyed you FGS 🤬

Luckily I don't often have to give him instructions for things (although he asked what setting for the washing machine every time he switches it on) - he's more likely to pretend he knows what he's doing when he's actually bloody clueless.

puss at uni I was part of a waitress agency and we'd get sent to all sorts of events and most of the races. I didn't mind most of them as we were working the posh boxes but the Cheltenham one was always bar work and the men were just awful - 40-50 yo men letching at 19 yo me 🤮 although I got sacked from the job in the end because 1 man tried to pull me into his lap and I pushed him off his seat

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 10/03/2022 15:18

Crazy 💪🤣 You've met Mark then? And his DJ mates? Life is waaay too short to put up with that shit.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/03/2022 17:44

I think I now have most of the retired Minecraft Lego in the basket on top of the wardrobe, or on the way! I bought more today, as it's a retired set on DS' list. Used, but he doesn't care about that. He'd prefer to have a set second hand than not at all.

I have one boxed second hand set, one unboxed (on the way), one which looks like it's been sat on, but is a sealed box, plus a good few brand new sets. 🙈🤣 I reckon I'm almost done for birthday and Christmas for DS. #wellprepared Xmas Grin The boy loves his Lego. I'm very excited about his birthday, as he'll pop when he gets the sets he really wants. 😍

Crazy, I've done loads of hospitality / stewarding jobs too. They aren't great, if it goes wrong, are they?

DH is a huffer too. We had words the other day, as I'd asked him to change the heating to 05.30-07.00, and he'd done it 05.00-07.30. When I asked him what he was playing at, given the cost, he said that he wasn't going to touch it again, given he got the blame for doing it wrong not sure who else was to blame! He got short shrift for having such a daft response!

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 10/03/2022 18:45

I reckon I'm almost done for birthday and Christmas for DS until he's 18? 😹
We don't use the timer now, just set the thermostat for 17 overnight (which means 14-15 upstairs) and then control it from the dial during the day if it's cold.
...although we might have a new combi soon, that'll be fun.🤦‍♀️

NoWordForFluffy · 10/03/2022 21:33

Honestly, the house is rammed with sodding Lego! Xmas Blush

You'll get a lovely remote control thermostat with the boiler, Puss. They're amazing!

CrazyBaubles · 10/03/2022 22:14

I loved most of my waitressing and bar jobs Fluffy but the races (and football matches) were always crap.

I feel your pain re your DH - mine used to tend towards the dramatic 'well I clearly can't do anything right so I won't do XYZ again 🙄 It's another thing I don't have the patience for.

On the plus side, we've talked and sorted it out today. I know I have to let it go but FFS, what a stupid argument to waste time having.

I agree puss if you're replacing your boiler get a system you can control with a remote or your phone. We have it and it's so nice we also have a remote control fire that is a monstrosity to look at but is so nice on a really cold evening

So light this morning. First day I haven't needed my torch to walk to my car Grin I think it's going to rain later though

NoWordForFluffy · 11/03/2022 14:42

It was dry, but grey and gusty. The rain has just started here though. Joy.

MrsRussell · 11/03/2022 18:21

Is there room under the tree, or have we been put up in the loft with the rest of the sparklies?
I have a dreadful habit of doomscrolling so I'm trying to fill my time with more useful things. I'm doing cross stitch embroidery at the moment, there are some lovely Christmas decorations on Etsy designed in parts of the world that benefit directly from me paying a couple of quid for a pattern....

My cat is a chronic overgroomer @WreckTangled, he's dreadful for it. He has a flea allergy so he goes out in the garden and ping! he's chewing on his bum for days. We used to have a girlie that I'm not sure wasn't bulimic - she used to bolt her food so the boys couldn't steal it, and then throw it up again.

But it's 18:21 and it's not dark so I had better crack on with the embroidery...be Christmas before we know it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/03/2022 19:38

DH took a day off and we went out shopping (holiday clothes )

It was a really nice day , we last went shopping just before Christmas for the DC presents.

Of course I didn't find half the things on my list but got some smart trousers for evenngs , so I;ll find some tops/blouses along the way .

Thos weekend planning to sort through The Room of Doom ( small bedroom used as a storage place ) and remove some of DS outgrown clothes (he's a terrible hoarder and likes to keep things forever , I get him to try things on to see if they fit and even if they don;t he still claims to need them) . My DMum is a hoarder so its not a trait I;m keen to inspire !

WreckTangled · 11/03/2022 19:55

Yes he has a flea allergy. We use a decent spot on but it doesn't stop them biting, just means they can't survive on him apparently.

Dh is having this weekend off which is nice. Hopefully we can sort the house as it's just disgusting. We had Chinese for dinner too.

I've half turned the heating off, in that I've turned the thermostat down from 20° to 18° (it's in the warmest room in the house) but it did come on for a bit today.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/03/2022 20:16

Our lounge was at 16.4° at 2, so I abandoned my thoughts about scrapping that hour's heating. We've turned the 11am one off though, so we're down to 4 hours a day (from 5). We've definitely had it on less this winter, as I moved the timings around to get the most out of it. And we turned the boiler temp down which has hopefully helped as well.

We're sorting this weekend too: kids' unused toys which we will sell and give them the money. Hopefully the stacks of Brio and Go Jetters stuff will sell, plus the Playmobil. The rest probably isn't likely to sell, sadly.

WreckTangled · 11/03/2022 20:39

I'm absolutely freezing without it on. But I want to get used to not using it so much.

CrazyBaubles · 12/03/2022 00:37

Checking in - I'm a bit squiffy/ merry after an impromptu visit from my friend and some wine 🥴
She's just gone home and I'm waiting for DH to come home before going to bed although I might have to give in - my eyes are getting heavy quickly now.

70 I have hoarding tendencies but over crafting stuff. I'll chuck clothing easily but fabric, beads, ribbons etc I feel like I'll find a use for them so should hold on to them Blush

Do you have much planned apart from cleaning this weekend Wreck?

WreckTangled · 12/03/2022 07:30

Nope. Ds has football tomorrow. I'm lying in bed and can hear the birds which is nice. We might go for a walk later as it's going to be sunny.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/03/2022 07:49

Morning!

I've been awake since just before 6, and I'm almost at Sainsbury's getting our top up shop. It's damp here. Hopefully it'll dry up as we've washing to go out when it does.

Sounds like a lovely evening, Crazy!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/03/2022 08:16

Morning
Plans here to go to the supermarket
Hang out washing if it's nice Xmas Grin the excitement of the first line dried washing of the year !
(Though if I'd hung it out on Tuesday I think it would've frozen onto the line ! DH hung some sheets out a couple of weeks ago and had to bring them in again as they were in danger of blowing away to the next county! )

DD changed her winter bedding (it has been washed since it was put on) to regular . I;m still hanging onto mine (brushed cotton, so cosy)

Crazy craft stuff makes sense to keep as you will find a use for that ribbon or thar bead .
But my DMum had belts and scarves , hats/gloves she never wore . Worse was the clothes she unpicked to alter and they just sat there , useless. Five pairs of trousers (M&S from the outlet ) the waistband wasn't right but instead of recycling them (with the tags on) she took off all the waistbands (and lost them) so unwearable .
DS always says But I wear that ..... No that hasn't been worn/washed for months SonnyJim. And it doesn't fit .

NoWordForFluffy · 12/03/2022 09:16

We put our washing out during Eunice and Franklin. Cracking drying weather! 🤣 Then again, we put it out all year. As long as it's dry, the washing will dry!

I'm back from Sainsbury's and eating a bacon sandwich. 😋

NoWordForFluffy · 12/03/2022 09:17

Oh, the sun is out now, so our washing is too!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 12/03/2022 09:38

I always put our washing out when weather permits as well. Once I am up I will put a load on. First day off of six and I am exhausted and my back hurts a bit, I was running yesterday and it does not cope with it since I was attacked on the ward. #Oldfart

NoWordForFluffy · 12/03/2022 21:47

It's pretty darn breezy out there now...good drying weather! 🤣

I'm watching the top hits of 1991. Sadly, Gypsy Woman by Crystal Waters has just come on. Utter dirge I've still not forgiven Simon Mayo for having it as his record of the week when it came out!
