Nothing. I went out for lunch [smug]

I'm done with Christmas at home, I'm not going to do it again. I hate doing it even though I'm a trained chef and the cooking is no problem. I've had three years now of opting out of the traditional family Christmas Day and I bloody love it.

The sausagemeat. Which actually wasn’t a bad thing as we had sooo much other meat!!

That’s so interesting! What is it you don’t like about cooking Christmas dinner? Just intrigued as you mentioned that you’re a chef :)

@FeeFi100 just Can't Be Arsed any more after many years of doing the full works. Juggling stuff in thr oven, food shopping, playing fridge jenga to fit it all in, clearing up, then wondering what on earth to do with the leftovers as I invariably over cater as I pick too many dishes to make.

And I don't really like roast dinner.

The year before last Dd and I were on our own and had Chinese, last year I was working and Dh cooked the meal.

Luckily I had three other options!

I made potato dauphinoise yesterday cooled and had ready for slicing and reheating. I kept saying when plating up I'm forgetting something and sure enough my favorite bit of the dinner was sitting in the fridge

@PurpleDaisies

Red cabbage!

Also the custard was miles out of date so we had ice cream with the Christmas pudding.

My Christmas pudding is left over from last Christmas!

For once, nothing! But due to a positive covid test our guests didn’t come and I didn’t really think about scaling down the amount of veg I did so we’ll be eating sprouts and parsnips for days!

Forgot? Nothing

I did decide not to cook cauliflower cheese though, ran out of space to put pots/baking dishes. I’ll do it tomorrow.

Hope everyone has had a good day 🎅🎁🎄

🍷🍷 for everyone.

After realising we had swede, carrots, sprouts, parsnips and roast onions, I decided not to bother with broccoli or cabbage! Also ditched starters - I'm sick, kids were full of sugar and dh couldn't be arsed. Ditto with dessert, we're just picking at mince pies and selection boxes.

Peas, I cooked, drained and buttered them. Then left them in the pan and didn't notice until dh was clearing up lol

We usually have beef and turkey, the turkey came fresh yesterday from M&S, the beef was frozen and hubby got it out yesterday but instead of leaving it out to defrost he put it in the fridge, did same thing with the pigs in blankets. This morning found both still frozen so ended up only having the turkey. Add to that forgetting to cook the sprouts, the parsnips....you get the picture. Oh well, what we did have was nice so not complaining.

I think this is the first year in about 20 years of making Christmas dinner that I haven’t forgotten anything. Well done, me! Grin.
