I am sitting in an utter mess of a living room surrounded by wrapping paper, sylvanian animals and Christmas balloons, watching Casablanca. I could not be happier. I will clear some of it up in a bit, helped by a glass of something perhaps. Maybe peel some potatoes.

I have perfume, don't need a watch, and like the old husband

I'm a single mum whose teens have just got home and I got hugs (!!) and gifts from them. They were very grateful and happy

We’ve just moved so are tripping over boxes and can’t get the oven to work properly. DH bought a turkey last minute for 75% off and we can’t cook the bastard 😂

And we have a three month old baby just to mix it up a bit more.

Yuck. The local pub is open so we might just sling our coats on, pop the baby in the buggy and head up there instead.

If you do not share their joy and happiness, do not follow them.
If you think they are boasting and faking, do not follow them.
If you want them to post about the shit aspects of their lives and they don't, do not follow them.
Do not waste a minute of your life on them.
Problem solved.

I got rid of social media due to this.

If I was to post today, it would probably be a gorgeous picture of the baby by the tree looking gorgeous with a twee "First Christmas" caption.

In reality, she is currently napping, 'D'P is still in bed with a hangover and I am sat downstairs by myself having just given him the ultimatum of stop drinking or leave. Don't believe everything you see on social media.

I have instagram and never see anything like this. All the posts I've seen today have been beautiful, thoughtful and/or funny.

You choose who to follow. If someone's posts irritate you, I follow them. Honestly it's so easy.

I’ve lost my shit agree least 3 times today because DH didn’t move the boxes, daughter (4) has melted down over not having the right sylvanian family, DS11 has Covid and I have my hand up a Turkey so cannot charge your camera right now darling GET OUT OF MY KITCHEN.

Ahhhhhhh. I’m gonna put on a lot of blusher now as it’s my coping mechanism.

My insta looks passable tho. Maybe I’m guilty of it I never post present pics tho, it’s poor show.

They may very well also be false posts and said person is quite possibly sad, lonely and unhappy...who knows...all with a pinch of salt..

I think if you don’t feel happiness for people when they share their happiness then you shouldn’t follow them.

Truly, someone else being pleased/happy/excited shouldn’t make you feel bitter.

I don’t understand. I don’t have new perfume/husband/Ferrari either but I sure as hell would be chuffed if one of my friends did!

People posting about their perfect lives are rarely living that ideal.
Their lives are often all about external validation and the need for likes and clicks and comments.
Fuck that for a way to live.

Agree with @sweetbellyhigh. I follow people I genuinely like, so their happiness is my happiness. If people annoy me I simply unfollow them. Easiest thing in the world. If social media in general is annoying me, phone goes on flight mode for a few hours.

I don't use Instagram, and none of my FB friends, who are friends in RL, post this kind of stuff on social media anyway because they are mature adults
