The braggy Instagram posts have started already, an acquaintance showing off her amazing new expensive perfume and watch and boasting about her amazing new husband urgh !!!!!

I just wonder why,if you can't be happy for someone you follow why do you flow them? Personally I find the photos of gifts thing extremely tacky unless posted by children/teens. Just unfollow if she irritates you.

Different things make different people happy.

For some it is expensive gifts and show in the world what they have.

At the moment I am having a lie in with a cup of tea listening to my husband and DD playing downstairs. They are both laughing their heads off at each other. That to me is better than any fancy gift.

You have choice over what you follow on SM. If you don't like the images of (mostly curated) 'perfect' lives then avoid them!

Do you wish social media was one big race to the bottom? Honestly give your head a wobble, you're upset that other people aren't miserable.

I came off all social media about 5 years ago. Do people still go in for posting pictures of their kids’ present pile under the tree? I think that was one of several things that made me feel so nauseous I had to stop the nonsense immediately.
